  • What sublime singing and such a pretty chanson

  • Utterly gorgeous! I just sang through this for fun, and now I'm amazed that it took me this long to get to it.

  • Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo. Madame Amelling est une magnifique interprète de la mélodie française.

  • Je réussis enfin à capter quelques trop rares bribes, charmantes du reste!

  • Thank you, Gabriel Fauré. And thank you, Elly Ameling...

    Meraviglioso... Che armonie fantastiche...

  • I love Elly Ameling's voice! Wonderful interpretational artist and a gorgeous floating tone. Thank you for posting this!

  • Ameling is THE perfect Fauré singer. I love every single thing of his she recorded.

  • Dommage qu'il n'y ait plus de compositeur qui mette les poèmes en musique.

  • merci Iris pour ton chargement!

  • Simply beautiful. Her voice and interpretation fit the song very well.

  • I heard Elly Ameling sing this at the University of Kansas many many years ago. Thank you for helping me to remember that evening

  • For 'mousse' in the first phrase, in my music, Faure notates the "se", but Ameling does not vocalize it. Is there a mistake in my score?

  • Not at all! "Mousse" means "moss" in English, I guess the singer didn't want to put too much stress on the end of this word, which would feel kind of heavy in this song. You don't pronounce this syllabel when you speak this word in French... There you go, lol your score is perfectly right! :-)

  • @Sandpointmomo

Operatic French/Sung French (in classical, non-contemporary songs) is totally different from spoken/real French. :3

Just letting you know. This is to allow the voice to sing the notes--it's hard to do that with spoken French.

  • @EverlastingBlu

Well being French and a lyrical singer I can tell you that, no matter which language you sing in, the pronunciation has to be perfect and perfectly understandable by your audience. And no, operatic French, as you call it, and spoken French are just the same ; you only have to slightly modify the pronunciation of some vowels so that your sound is better but it is the same, of course!

  • @Sandpointmomo

Hm. In opera class, I sang Les Roses D'Isphahan, and this is pretty similar to how I sang it. But I know that when I try to sing in 'proper' French, it's harder because a lot of the sounds don't allow for a more open mouth, and also, when singing in French, 'proper' French can mess with your breath, etc.

  • @EverlastingBlu

  • @mlkoln

I already admitted my mistake. You don't have to be so rude in calling me 'naive' or 'narrow-minded'.

Plus, how many months was this ago? Yeah, six months. Why do you care anymore what was said six months ago?

  • @mlkoln

Also, it's not just 'some high school choir'. And just because I'm in a high school choir doesn't mean that I'm not taking OTHER CLASSES. Being in a choir doesn't mean I can't take opera at school (which my school offers), nor does it mean that I'm stupid and don't know what I'm talking about. So whoever you are, let it go. Stop looking at past comments and insulting everyone thinking that nobody understands you.

  • the best.i need more pls!!!!!

  • Thank you for adding this video to your favourites and thank you for watching my videos so many times.

I have posted other songs of Elly Ameling and have putted them on my playlist.

And I have newly uploaded Gérard Souzay.

I'm very sorry but I have posted most of those as private videos, because I'm afraid that my account would be suspended uploading almost of the whole CDs.

But I'm very glad if you would be my friend and listen my Elly Ameling and Gérard Souzay.

  • @IrisAyameIris I studied with Mr Souzay. What recordings have you posted? How do I find them. I loved him. He was a very dear man and a true artist.

  • Thank you for posting the comment.

At first I hesitated uploading many videos for public, because I have seen many classical music channels suspended.

But I changed my mind a little, and now all of my Ameling's and Souzay's videos are in public.

    I have uploaded 8 Ameling's videos and 8 Souzay's videos.

You can watch them in my channel.

  • @taubepaloma Incroyable! elle va etre une de mes chanteuses fevorites!!

  • @taubepaloma Incroyable! elle va etre une de mes chanteuses favorites!!

  • Thank you for posting the comment.

I have posted other songs from the album as private video and have putted them on my playlist.

I'm very glad if you see it.

I'm very sorry but there isn't any song by Gérard Souzay in my album.

There are the songs only by Elly Ameling.

  • This is my favorite version of this song; from a catalogue of Faure melodies recorded by EMI in the '70s with Ameling, Gerard Souzay and Baldwin on piano. She sings this piece with such sweet and lyric clarity, perfect for this light and airy music. I'd like to sing "Les Roses" for my voice lesson next semester, though my book has it in D instead of E maj. Can you post other songs from the album, as Souzay such an important part of the genre?

  • Thank you for the information of the box set and thank you for watching my videos so many times.

Last weekend I bought the set from the Brilliant Classics Label ($16) which is more reasonable than that of EMI Classics Label ($44).

  • And I have newly uploaded Gérard Souzay and have putted them on my playlist.

I'm very sorry but I have posted most of those as private videos, because I'm afraid that my account would be suspended uploading almost of the whole CDs.

But I'm very glad if you would be my friend and listen my Elly Ameling and Gérard Souzay.
