Are you gonna catch a gracie in this? Probably not. But why but why bitch about the move? Try it. I've pulled it off in class. The more tools u have, the better.
It looks cool, but I dont understand why throwing leg behind the head is needed when you already have a side choke variation at :45 if you just grabbed your bicep and sprawled a bit you would have the tap and have gotten it with less risk.
i have been thinking about joining this 10th planet any info on prices for me i looked into website and couldnt find anything if i could get an answer it would beeee soo helpful thanks
instead of all that fancy stuff y dont u just get the choke by sprawling -i dnt kno the name but its a version of the arm triangle- erick paulson does that move all day everyday!
This looks like the 'Koji Clutch" (a Pro-wrestling move).... The only thing different is the set up, and execution, plus this looks a hell of alot tighter than the Koji Clutch... Thanks for sharing this, deadly as always..
This is very similar to the apple crusher that the guys at 8th street gym down in grand junction Colorado came up with. They use the pyramid to get to what they call the puppet master. Check it out. I like this set up for it though, it's something that you can do on bigger guys or for people that aren't that flexible. It's incredibly tight.
surely if you can get this you might as well go for something simpler like an arm bar or triangle? im not being critical, iu just cant see an advantage? and also could you get this from your gaurd?
@Momentimum you could maybe but since he has such a strong grip around your head and body it would be very easy for him to stay to tight as long he keeps pressure from his hips and squeezes with his arms constantly.
I pulled this move in practice after only a few days of trying it. I think it's about finding new doorways and evolving the game. The fact is your opponent is very aware to your game especially if you are the same belt level. Its a snake trick for people with flexible legs. I faked a north south choke to set up mine.
This is an interesting sub. I learned the set up from Royce Gracie (when he came to our school) but he taught it as a way to get to mount (which does work of course) but sometimes I can get the "armless head/arm choke" from that position, but it usually requires adjusting the deep hook deeper, not less. I look forward to trying this move... after my knee heals. Fking heel hooks.
Not to be rude, but why wouldn't you just finish with the choke you had? Or take the mount/back, arm triangle, Kimura, Keylock, or an Armbar, etc. Is there an advantage to this fancy move besides the fact that it looks cool???
No it isn't. In boxing, footwork is basic stuff. It's just applied at a high level. DLR guard, X-Guard, Peruvians, reverse DLR, Z-Guards, deep Halfs, Darces, Japanese Neckties, Inverted Guards, gogoplatas, all this stuff is advanced but still basic. None of it is over to top ridiculous. The necktie in this video is,simply because there are 20 other options that will finish or advance your position with less effort. BTW, I box and do JJ. I have for 11 years this April.
That said, I'm sure this technique works very well for Sean B. And he is a very good competitor. I just hope that this video is him showing his talents, and not neccisarily advising EVERYONE to use this. This is a uper attribute based technique. Not that there's anything wrong with that if it worlks.
Great Tech, BUT...You have to have a good amount of flexibilty to pull it off. I'd just stick to the regular head and arm choke..... Eddie Bravo loves Flexibility!!!
this is tight, i choke people out all the time from the earlier position without using the leg and staying in side control, when it doesnt work i have plan b. really awesome
wud it work if i grip it the other way with my right hand on top of my left instead? i like it when my right is on top it has more strength to pull and its more comfortable
idk im a big 10th planet fan but i dont see this happenng, the guy on the bottem should be blocking you from goin to north south, your just walkin around like its nothing
if you have his hip blocked and his hands aren't in front of you, all he can do is push you up. if you have your weight on him properly, and you are relatively close in size, you shouldn't be bumped much. when you switch to the other side, your pressure is the same as a typical over-under except he has only one arm, making it even stronger for you. if it's such a big deal, make your drilling partner try to bump so you get used to putting your weight on him and not giving space. the move works
I've seen all Sean's videos but this is my favorite move. You do Eddie Bravo proud and have taken the Rubber Guard to new heights. Its only right this move is named after you. Keep it up man. 10th Planet Forever.
That is a really cool move. It looks similar to the move we called the Unforgiven in our Puppet Master Part 4 video. Maybe you could name it the Unforgiven II,
Are you gonna catch a gracie in this? Probably not. But why but why bitch about the move? Try it. I've pulled it off in class. The more tools u have, the better.
