no, muffler is just exhaust. you need a snorkel on the air intake though, cause even if you get a little water in there your screwed. the muffler can be completely underwater and still be fine

I have both a 2004 yamaha grizzly 660 and a 2006 arctic cat 650. THey both are damn good quads. Benefit to the cat over the grizzly is it has higher ground clearance 12 inchs where the grizzly has about 10 to 11. Also the cat costs a little bit less than the grizzly but you cant go wrong either way. Both have 4 wheel drive with locking differentals which will get you through just about anything. If that dont get you through it get a winch.

my favs are grizz, polaris, can am, honda for dependability.. but i dont care what you ride as long as you youre out there having fun, like these guys, is all that matters.. theres no bike the BEST just some are better in certain areas than others.. i love the grizz more than anything but that doesnt give me any reason to down the other bikes.. ppl have their own personal bikes they like..

Finally someone with an unbiased, mature and educated opinion on this subject. With this type of riding/racing, and with quads that sport similar set ups, it really comes down to the skill of the operator and familiarity of the quad. Although my brands are Arctic Cat and Can-Am (what we own) I have nothing but respect for Yamaha's Grizz set up. In addition AC's do just fine in water, not sure where that myth comes from.

polaris is the best bar none 2nd but not even close is honda get a polaris sportsman 500 ive burried my polaris 335 up to the handlebars in mud and got out plus its 9 years old never been in the shop. arctic cats have too high of a center of gravity and nothing rides like a polaris can am transmissions suck and yamaha grizzlies need more power output from a 700 cc
