  • Totally correct Kenpo is a demonstration Art? that was never meant for fighting as Ed Parker had questionable Lineage making claims to being a Judoka (not true) street fighter (not true) and the worst example of all awarding Elvis a black belt.

  • Awful. Who is going to choke you like that? This isn't movie fighting.

Why do all these old obese black belts have such poor posture after 30 years of practicing. First thing you learn is not to bend and lean in your stance.

  • I can hit anyone anywhere if they hold still while I do it! ROFLMAO!

  • i'd put any kyokushin colored belt up against this clown and bet five to one

  • Anderson Silva would destroy this fatty :D

  • @Daavisonfire any kyokushin colored belt would destroy this fatty

  • As I raise my right arm I call a cab, quickly get in a head to the other side of town. Joe go home and stay off the tube

  • l think every ones missing the point..keno is self defence.this stile is meant for street fighting. SELF DEFENCE MEANS TO DEFEND YOURSELF agains a attacter .no competition will allow blows to the throat eye gowjing.l have a black belt in japanese jujitsu, and there is know way that could be made a sport.its all about breaking arm , legs, necks , wrist. .

  • The Gracies of the world are better off on the ground since they couldn't fight there way out of a wet paper bag standing up going toe to toe with real heavy contender trading blow for blow. I have nothing against the Gracies personaly but I think courage is more measured standing toe to toe rather than rolling around on the floor playing spider monkey. A great fighter can do both types of fighting.

  • Hey there all you idiots out there hatting on Kenpo go to a good second or third generation Parker Kenpo school and see how fast you get owned by there orange belts. i have been training 21 years have a third in tkd i know i hate on tkd my self but i also hold a black in jujitsu along with ranking in tai chi chuan and american kenjitsu, have trained with the sham rock brothers and a few other fighters that have gone through the octagon in my opinion Kenpo is in the top 3 ma's bjj and 10th planet

  • @sc420200 the sham rock brother fucking suck..10th planet jujitsu and kempo..i can respect that but not the lions den bullshit..

  • @JUKEBOXX1990 You obviously havent seen the old stuff

  • @osiris8605 whta old stuff..the shamrock brothers? getting owned by tito ortiz and nick diaz..lol

  • wow.... em, falling after that? dont be riddicoules.. is this for yellow belt or sum?

  • I love how his partner falls down from a phantom strike.

  • He almost fell. His hands must be up. Joe Lewis improved his combat skills because he listened to Bruce Lee. Bruce taught to keep his hands up and to use his hips to create more power, and it did.

  • Why not just use the death touch.

  • This is actually a good video. If you combine that after the initial strike to break their hold, with a Jiu Jitsu takedown, it would prove a sufficient combo for a fighter of any kind. As long as they had some ground skills. Or clinch skills.

  • Look up Brazilian Jujitsu vs kenpo karate.... karate is useless

  • @Sudol171

A video showing a fight with rules is useless, BJJ is a martial art you take in addition to a standup art, not as an exclusive one. You can't fight anywhere BUT on the ground.

  • @cannabischarlie that's why you learn something like boxing, to back up brazilian..

  • @cannabischarlie The Gracies learned the hard way. They got pummeled in the fight world. And still today they don't credit the striking arts with any gratitude. They understand now that good boxing skills are needed to set up and defend.

  • As for your last comment, A sport can be learned much faster than a Martial Art. Sports are purely physical whereas an Art has much more depth, and thought behind it. Also, Kenpodoesnt just teach how to fight and defend themselves, it teaches the student to avoid a fight by using their mind to stay away from trouble. Kenpo teaches people to use their skills only when completely necessary, not to pick fights to see who will win. Sports make good athletes. Martial Arts make good people.

  • MA fanatic, dont mean to be rude but you are completely misinformed. American Kenpo Karate is a Self Defense system, (real world use) bjj, boxing and muay thai are sports. Not saying there is anything wrong with them, they're just different. And its not about memorizing, its about performing your techniques, forms and sets realistically.

Yes we have lots of techniques in Kenpo, but remember that Real Kenpoists actually hit each other...

  • @casablanca626 dumbass look up BJJ vs Kenpo karate

  • Thank you for uploading this. Very much appreciated for someone who can not really afford too go to a DoJang and be taught by a Master .

  • KOP

  • this is so fucking funny, its a joke im ana americna kenpo black belt and this techniques is very effective but not the way he does it. poor students theys just getting robed jajaja

  • Sad, this is how after over 10 years of Kenpo is get embarrassed at the art. Is this is a joke? Well?

  • i completely agree with the first tw comments on this page plus, the origonal attacker could easily strike with the left hand since the whole technique is on the right side.Samoan warrior really needs to shut up now1

  • With those hits its impossible to make it so easy.

  • Doesn't Mr. Palazo start moving before the attack? Is Mr. Palazo psychic? Isn't the attack in this clip extremely light? Why does Mr. Palazo lean away from his target when hammering at the groin? Why does he leave so much room between himself and his opponent for his attacker to fight back? In his explanation why are his foot manoeuvres so uncertain and why does he allow himself to bend at the waist for power instead of using his legs?

  • lol, the original text of this technique has 7 steps, not 3. i wish someone would hold true to Mr. Parkers image.

  • Amen, this is so poorly shown...when I learned this technique,I was taught why not only how... There are only a few still loyal to Mr. Parker, and those are the black belts I truly respect.

  • That's because the Kempo master's training consisted of memoriizing hundreds of techniques (all with their own creative name). The more he memorized, the higher he worked up in rank. It was never about real combat or any real body conditioning. I can take a kid with 6 months boxing, muay thai, or bjj experience, and they'll pick apart most of these guys with NO TROUBLE at all because they train in reality.

  • @MAfanatic brazilian usually beats kenpo if you try to take it to the ground anyway. Kenpo only has like 3 ground defenses..

  • @MAfanatic Competition differs from self-defense. Kickboxing and BJJ classes are fun, a great workout, and essential for competitive training (such as MMA), yet neither train to for life and death self-defense. For example "pulling guard" on the street is a last resort. Now obviously the professional fighter has an incredible amount of condition etc., but this doesn't apply to 99% of the public. GracieJJ & Kenpo or another stand up art like Aikido would be a good mix (for self-defense).

  • @MAfanatic

you're stupid! Look at Jeff Speakman! Larry Tatum! etc.

you're telling me that a kid or you could kick their asses?

Guess what? and, too, sure they're remember techniques! But that just helps one to practice their maneuvers etc. Trust me (or don't I don't care) people who study kenpo work out with weights, exercise, etc. And in a real fight, they don't pick a certain technique. They put it together in a free style motion! So you are just a dumb ass flapping your flipper for nothing

  • @EffayHue The best is not Kempo but is Sayokan

  • @SAMAND33

Kenpo is the best for practical street self defense!

In the ring there are rules so in the ring I'd say mma is the best.

But for practical self defense kenpo wins because it offers bone breaking techniques that are illegal in mma!

  • @MAfanatic '

No I seen lots of karate guys fall to grapplers and get ground and pounded and after the only excuse they no how to use is "grappling" is for pussies.

  • How's the fake choke the guy in the back does. When was someone in trouble coz they got "chocked" liek that in real life? Very vicious... NOT. Let's see how kempo guys get out fo a rear naked strangle. Let's see if the circling wing really does work. It's one thing to look incredible in the dojo another in the real world where attackers don't do weak chokes.

  • wow, first this isnt kempo, its kenpo, and this is such a poor demonstration of what is a very useful and practical art, check out the real American Kenpo before you talk about taking a kenpo practitioner to the ground, because you won't have the chance, it'll be over before you can say knock out...

  • only problem i have with this is how many of you have ever been "choked" like that from the back? from personal exp most people would be hitting you from behind or have a weapon. i would have liked to see it done more in those context, but that is just my opinion. also he started way too early took a step forward before he was even touched to generate power for his attack, i think most people would tend not to know this attack was coming.

  • Well fagboyfresh we ARE talking so obviously we know what we're talking about. Too much mucking around with this kempo stuff - all you do is move your hips either way, rip his nuts out and then show it to him. End of story. No time for crouching tiger hidden chicken wing stuff.

  • listen dumbass in real life no you wouldnt do this technique you would do the first thing that came to mind the techniques are made to show what you CAN do in a situation. do your freakin research dipshit

  • Whatever Courching Tiger Hidden Chicken Wing boy. You can't be serious about these silly kempo moves they're rubbish. Where did you do your research? At the chicken factory? LOL@circling wing... joegirlfresh is a 2nd degree black belt in deep fried chicken LOL... he learnt the secret herbs and spices techniques from Colonel Sanders at the KFC temple LOL...

  • really? wow you are truly a fag

  • Shall I call you chicken master or what?

  • He is able to hit u when u do the first move to trap his right hand... he can punch u with his left... why not pull both hands directly down in front of u... thiss will break or sprain his thumbs on ur neck... if its done properly

  • Comment removed

  • LOL@ circling wing. How about chicken wing?

  • shut up you fag. dont talk if you dont know what your talkin about

  • Wooo Im so scared. Please don't beat me with the chicken wing technique LOL... I'll pluck your feathers out LOL... Where to you get your techniques from? KFC? LOL...

  • nah against that sorta attack from behind, WIng Tsun we'd use either a double rear palm strike or a sudden turn around kick to the inner left inner knee then follow up with chained centerline punches.

  • It looks like WingTsun and JKD

  • this is so cool what level belt do ya have to be to learn this technique?

  • im pretty sure this is orange or purple belt, it is at my karate anyway...MD ftw

  • You`ll find it in purple belt (nº12) :)

  • there are no levels. u can learn this technique from this video here, and if practiced enough u may be able to execute it correctly when defending yourself ;)

  • if i can execute it correctley ill impress my instructors haha i wanna get good though but learning the forms and katas is complicated

  • lol not for me

  • well it is for me its the footwork i have trouble with any advice for a newbie trying to learn his forms off?

  • Trouble with footwork? I promise you, the footwork is almost more important than the rest of the art. Without a solid foundation, and proper foot work, your techniques will not only be much less effective, they will lack power, speed, and accuracy. Take it from me, keep hammering out that foot work until you get it mastered. It will make your life in kenpo much more fulfilling and rewarding. Keep it up, you will get there!

  • when you turn actually both arms are trapped then the eye shot then the elbow up and down to anchor the body to lead to the hammer to the grown if that is not going to take you down we can always continue with a sweep to widen the stances as his head coming down from the hammer and on we go with more ,,, but please understand mr Palanzo was teaching over 40 year ago can you say that for yourself have respect

  • the purpose of practicing self defence is to be able to defend yourself from most sorts of attacks, and rear chokes are probably one of those attacks, and the reason it looks fake is probably because it's a instruction film, not live combat.

  • well i do know that it keeps your enemy from attacking you but i do not belive it would have that much of an effect.

Not to mention why would your enemy try to choke you from behind. most enemies kick you in the back or the back of your legs.

  • Who attacks you? I'm pretty sure most fights start and finish with large sucker-punch to the back or side of the head. Why attack the legs when the head is wide open and completely unprotected? I think this application makes more sense to think of your opponent trying to throw you off balance. I agree the choke is quite a bit unrealistic, but to each their own.

  • True but i guess mainly what im trying to also say is that the move he does even looks fake. the enemy drops to the floor when he karate chops him in the side. Which doesnt make sense at all what would really happen after that move is the guy punching you in the face.

  • I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be a strike to the groin. Once you turn to face the opponent and strike the face with the elbow, punch or whatever hand technique you choose with them trapped, it's pretty much over for them. Definitely, the dropping to the floor is just stupid and unreasonable. You've just got to weed out the crap to get what actually is helpful from any training method. Everybody has their flaws.

  • Yes you are right. If you actually do hit the person in the chin adnd go for a groin shot than yah i guess hed fall because a groin shot is always devastating. But the master in the video never hit him in the chin and all the old guy did was go as fast as he could and not even come closse to getting one it in. but other than that if you can actually hit the guy and have a fast attack than yes this would work.

  • I know what you mean, but just for training purposes, you wouldn't actually want to strike.

  • GOD DAMN IT PAUL!!!!!!

  • Nice technique. Now how do I get my 1 minute and 30 seconds of my life back that has been wasted....GARBAGE

  • intresting to see the similarities between American Kenpo and Tracy's Kenpo. I like it.

  • this is a ok move but to use it the peoplehave to be in slow motion.

  • This actually controls the opponent fairly well. It can by countered but this does work in full speed.

  • Bit useless... but thanks anyway...
