Who knows, it was based off the movie's storyline. Search "The Lawnmower Man - Ending" into Youtube and find the video by FieryPyrus. This explains how he got in and escaped. The game took the story a bit further on it's own.

he also left a bunch of bombs around the entire building.

but he finds a back door and it all explodes just as he leaves, so its a cliff hanger
