i met kevin talley like a day r two before this show at red 7 in austin tx, he took time to hang out with me and search out all the muscians who played that night just for an autograph. he is the most down to earth guy. thats why he is the only signature worth bein next to Chris Adler

@cabalrules it is called a quad fill. it is 2 on the hands and 2 on the feet. what he does here is left hand on the snare, right hand on the second rack tom, then right foot, then left foot.

i think he uses evans g2, but those could be clear remo emperors... that whole kit sounds amazing....

@chisox91 I was using clear emperors there. The trick is don't tune the toms up too high. Get a Tama drum dial if you don't know how to tune... actually even if u think you know how to tune you should still get a drum dial. It measures the tension at each lug. Some people tune based on the tightness of the lug and that is totally not correct. The better you can tune... the lower you can keep your heads and the better they will sound. Also... hit toms hard and they sound better too.

i would describe lars` drumming as "pedestrian".

Talley is the business - the main reason i like the self-titled Chimaira album.

Prefer John though - going to see them on sunday and wednesay third and fourth time!

premier is a good starter kit that sounds great to. my advise is go to pawn shops. when i first started i went to a pawn shop and got my premier set (a 900 dollar set) for 200 bucks brand new. and your never to old to start an instrument. but what ever you do DO NOT get a pulse set. there garbage and go out of tune after 3 hits

You're never too old to start playing an instrument. It's just best to start at a young age because you can get into it more easily. As for your other question... I have no idea. I'm a self tought Guitarist/Drummer/Pianist/Bass­ist, it's amazing what you can do if you put your mind to it.

I don't play rim shots live because my old sound man told me that it makes it difficult to mix. Rim shots are much louder than normal hits.... so I stopped doing rim shots. This way he could turn up the snare with a consistent sound and didn't have to worry about blowing peoples heads off with random rim shots. haha... even tho i like blowing heads off!!!!
