yeah im a sabres fan and i dont think hasek is great. he was a good goalie in the '90's with his agility and acrobatics but he would often overdo things and that would lead to goals. add onto that his tendency to get injured and his bad temper, hes not really that great of a goalie.
How can you say he's not a great goalie? He's 1st all time in save percentage. and is among the top 5-10 in GAA, wins and shutouts. Not to mention taking a Buffalo to the finals and winning it with the Red WIngs in 2002. yeah if the sabres had a halfway decent team in front of him back then they wouldve easily been the best team in the nhl, they even managed to go to game 6 against the stars in the finals in 1999 (i still say no goal lol) and easily one of the best goalies of that time.
yeah, i remember that game not only because it was the no goal game, but because my parents let me stay up to watch it (i was only 9 years old at the time). i think the sabres still need something else to win the cup. maybe a new coach (ruff is good but just doesnt coach the right style of play that is necessary these days), or maybe a good leader (such as when we had drury or peca). even just a big star might work. regier just doesnt want to spend the necessary money to make a cup worthy team

LOL! Sad fact is that, and don't tell Sabre fans this, Hasek was good for about 8 years before his reflexes went down the tubes. Here are the facts. Martin Broduer is going to be by far and away, considered by all to be the greatest goalie of all time. Hasek was good, Broduer is much better. but shhhhh don't tell Sabre fans that. These are the same people who contend that Gretzky was just an Ok player. Think about that.

Well thank you. Personally, being from Southern, CA I am a Ducks fan. However, I like the Devils, and Rangers as well. But you are the first Sabre fan that's willing to admit that Hasek lost his touch after a while, and yet Broduer has stayed strong. I just go to school with a bunch of Sabre fans that just don't listen to reason.

Every player looses his touch eventually...it's pretty much innevitable...I mean Hasek was AMAZING when I was a kid, but...not anymore and it's no big deal, basically it means other potential players will step up

yeah im a sabres fan and i dont think hasek is great. he was a good goalie in the '90's with his agility and acrobatics but he would often overdo things and that would lead to goals. add onto that his tendency to get injured and his bad temper, hes not really that great of a goalie.

How can you say he's not a great goalie? He's 1st all time in save percentage. and is among the top 5-10 in GAA, wins and shutouts. Not to mention taking a Buffalo to the finals and winning it with the Red WIngs in 2002. It's pretty ignorant to say that he's anything less than great, even if he took a nose dive in the playoffs last year.

he was a great goalie when he was in his prime. he carried the sabres in the 90's they wouldve been nothing without him. but then he got too old and injury ridden to be considered great anymore.

everybody is best in their prime, retard, that's why its called their "prime". And when Hasek was in his prime he was an untouchable beast, of course his skills are going to deteriorate with age and injuries, that doesn't take away from how amazing he was before he got injured. That's like saying michael jordan isn't great anymore because he's too old to play like he used to.

i never sed the exact words that he was best in his prime, i said he was great in his prime. if you're going to dis people to make yourself feel better, at least learn to read. anyways, i still consider him a great goalie back then, and easily the best goalie of that time, he just wouldnt be a great goalie if he still played right now, same as m.j. wouldnt be so great right now but he is still the best player in basketball history.

i respectufully disagree...he was great in the 90's....was stealing games almost every other night....played on a sabs team that really didn't have a great team in fron of him.....6 vezina trophy's....took the sabs to their first final in how long?...the last back to back NHL MVP before last yr.....and a cup.....he isn't brodeur, i don't know who is saying that he is, but he was absolutely great....no one wanted to play against him before all his injuries, he was a force

yeah if the sabres had a halfway decent team in front of him back then they wouldve easily been the best team in the nhl, they even managed to go to game 6 against the stars in the finals in 1999 (i still say no goal lol) and easily one of the best goalies of that time.

yeah, i remember that game not only because it was the no goal game, but because my parents let me stay up to watch it (i was only 9 years old at the time). i think the sabres still need something else to win the cup. maybe a new coach (ruff is good but just doesnt coach the right style of play that is necessary these days), or maybe a good leader (such as when we had drury or peca). even just a big star might work. regier just doesnt want to spend the necessary money to make a cup worthy team
