I absolutley hated my prē! I had it for a year and i upgraded to a blackberry torch. Much better than a shitty ass pre! Bell doesnt even endorse them anymore! They took them off the shelves lol!
this phone pretty much kinda sucks.... there is NO apps, i've had to take my battery out and clean it multiple times, the speaker is soo hard to hear when you have it in your pockets and you can't feel the vibrate. any thoughts?
@kristofferpence Only comes with the Pre Plus on Verizon not the Sprint version. Sprint is talking about getting a Plus version but it's unclear if it would have all the same features or boosted ones etc.
Personally, the Sprint Pre fails when compared to it's Verizon counterpart. Touchstone is also only $39 and no need for a back plate as it's stock to the phone.
on my phone the key bored is really small so ill be use to that im thinking of getting this phone not sure im scared that during school if my packpack or something will tuch it and it will turn on but i think its a good phone
i noticed that you said the keyboard was really small, but i accually love it, i dont have the pre, but i have the centro, and its almost exaclty the same, i cant stand big bulky keyboards, im really hoping to get this for christmas(:
@kRAz13StAt1C this phone gets normal picture messages but only with mms i think (i mean you have to get a picture TEXT you cant get a picture with anything else in synergy i think lol) but yeah you get pics im pretty sure
how about the touch pro 2 it is a good phone and if you plane on leaving the country then you can use it any were in the world it is a world phone hope this helps and also the htc hero very very very good phone
i actually work for apple and i own a iphone and a just got the pre and i have to own up to it.. the pre is better the iphone has more apps but shit its been out for years now...just give the pre some time...i honestly think that all of the iphone users are mad cuz the spent so much money on their phone and something better is out
there's lots of phones better than the iphone in many aspects, especially price. iPhone is a lifestyle device, not a business device. The pre is almost a business device but doesn't quite do it. You want a real business smartphone other than the blackberry, as much as it sucks you have to go windows mobile... the new treo pro, HTC tytn, etc.
small keyboards aren't a big prob cuz it means the time moving frm one key to another is shorter like tht. but the keys shud take up as much space as available and fill in the gaps between them so tht they r big enuf.
Yeah and that's why the Pre's keyboard is lacking... honestly the on-screen keyboard on my iPhone is BIGGER and easier to use O_O not to mention the Pre lacks a large library of auto-corrections. The iPhone knows almost every word I am typing even names in art history that are hundreds of years old.
think about how long the iPhone has been around compared to the Pre....iPhone has been out for a good 3 years compared to the Pre which is a week old...
uhh the pre dosent need auto-corrections cuz you wont make mistakes because it has an actual keyboard dam fanboy its like people hate when something new comes out and its better than the one they have-grow up people and I use to like the iphone
Really? You won't make mistakes? I find that incredibly hard to believe and completely untrue. And what I am referring to is the fact that when I am typing a very long word the iPhone suggests the word it thinks it is and I can just press space instead of finishing typing the word. It also remembers the words I use often and suggests them while I am typing which delivers a quicker typing experience than any keyboard without that feature.
The keyboard corrects common mistakes, but as has been said, far less auto correction is needed for a hardware based keyboard than for a capacitive touchscreen based virtual keyboard. Capacitive touchscreens just aren't accurate enough to work well without auto-correction (though resistive works fine).
I think that's very biased. I find typing on the iPhone's screen to be a breeze because of less committment. And I'm willing to bet that the Palm Pre doesn't predict what you're going to type and allow you to press the space bar instead of finishing typing a really long word. iPhone (especially in 3.0) has a HUGE library of words and like I said even in a complicated field such as art history where most dictionaries even in desktop OSs don't even know the word, iPhone knows the words I am using.
Typing on iPhone sucks man. I find the physical keyboard to be much much better than any virtual or software keyboard. Thats the main reason I went and bought a Nokia E71 and that will be the main reason I will buy a Palm Pre. Also the main reason I sold my iPhone after using it for few months.
Seems like Palm has got the right formula now, they just need to market it a little more.
good thing in your second reply you said "in my opinion" or at least "imo".
What I meant by bias is that everyone has a bias and it is their own opinions. Saying "you make less mistakes on a physical keyboard" doesn't make sense because not everyone is the same.
You should look up the word bias then. Opinion does not equal bias. I test tons of phones, use far more. I don't even own a Pre, though I have an iPod touch. I don't have an anti-touchscreen or anti-Apple agenda. My statement about hardware keyboards does make sense. Again, not agreeing with something doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. My opinion is based on 7.5 years of reviewing phones, and the actual use of hundreds of them - as well as discussing them with many other phone reviewers.
Apple's on-screen keyboard is probably state of the art for capacitive touchscreens, but a virtual-keyboard on an equally large resistive touchscreen (ie. HTC Touch HD) is still easier for most people to use. And a physical keyboard is, once again, much easier for most people to use - in spite of the fact that you personally might prefer the virtual keyboard.
I prefer the capacitive keyboard only because Apple has an amazing word dictionary in the iPhone that other phones just can't match for some stupid reason. Also I like how every key is not such a commitment to press. And as of now there are no multi-touch pressure sensitive screens on any phone in the market, so typing fast on a pressure-sensitive screen would be like trying to type fast on the Storm's click screen. Doesn't work.
3.0 iphone software has the horizontal keyboard making it much easier to type... MUCH easier...
I like palm but as cool as this may have been before the iphone it's just lagging behind now .... i'm curious to see if it has proper multitouch or not... I'll watch on :)
yeah that's what i'm worried about... i develop apps for the iphone and i know how extremely responsive the screen is... even with 5 fingers on the screen at the same time.
Eh I own both. I wouldn't say better at all. Sensitivity is just as good but the plastic display makes it worse than the iPhone's glass display. I like not worrying about scratches with my iPhone.
it looks small because they dont use the top of the screen they put a black bar there with a status indicator for the battery and signal. I would rather they make the picture go under the indicators
I've been waiting on the Pre since its announcement at CES and if O2 get it then I guess that'd kill any hype for me. I get terrible reception from them in my area plus they area very expensive. They're cheapest Tarriff for the iPhone 3GS(chose this because roughtly same production cost) on 18 months is £29.38 a month, 75 mins and 125 texts and you have to pay £184.98 16GB or £274.23 for 32GB. O2 is the UK equivalant to AT&T so if they had both I just think it'd be unfair.
I absolutley hated my prē! I had it for a year and i upgraded to a blackberry torch. Much better than a shitty ass pre! Bell doesnt even endorse them anymore! They took them off the shelves lol!

the iPhone hasn't even been out for 2 years yet.
And the Pre had the iPhone's entire life cycle to learn from it, not to mention head iPhone engineers working on the Pre. :/

And for what I mentioned iPhone has had that since day one. I don't see why 2 years later the Palm Pre can't put that in their software or UI.
