Just got back from Del McCoury band last night and heard the story behind this. Trey asked these guys to come out to the show, later asking them to play with him on a couple tunes. They did not have their instruments, so Del borrowed one of Treys guitars, while Ronnie and Rob went to the local music store and spent $50,000 combined on a $20,000 on a mando, and $30,000 on a banjo. Trey really loves these guys obviously
