Obviously this bears no relevance to the actual subject matter of the song, but in terms of my interpretation, the lyrical themes and musical setting in this song really hit me. When I hear 'day breaks, and every morning when he wakes he thinks of you' reminds me of my brother and his children, of whom he and his wife laboured 3 years of their marriage to get (but they never gave up hope). The music at that moment sounds like his pure love and benevolence. It cracks me up every time I hear it.
@lvillecards12 I don't really see the end of the song that way. Seems to me that even thought he did lose the girl, he's okay, because he's still been love. So he isn't that cheerful, but far from heartbroken.
it is trul;y tragic to know this beautiful soul is no longer with us, how fortunate for us all his legacy lives on in his etheric melodies. great post, thank you! ♥♫♥
These lyrics are wrong, and suck.
For one it's "I'm in love, god I hope" not "Love I hope"

Unfortunately for Elliott, Angeline had gone home..... And he was not afraid to die.

I just bought Figure 8 and this one is my favorite so far from the album. I can't stop pushing the replay button!

What happens, starting around 1:40 or so, and builds and twists until it climaxes around 2:10, that I believe is a musical orgasm.

@irishsassenach far from cheerful, While upbeat, at the end of the song he is heart broken.

@irishsassenach I see it more as he is now so detached from reality due to this deeply devastating departure.
