I think this should be called the world"s biggest midi controller, that is is not a drum machine, kong is not a drum machine, reason is not a drum machine.
TR-909, TR-808, Tr-606,TR 707, TR 505, Mpc's, DMX, ER-1 , TOM, are drum machines.
@rektide Hey we used Force Senstive Resistors by Interlink. For a full write up of the technicals behind this project, check out the article on Createdigitalmusic. Just remove the [dot] in the address below with an actual period. Youtube doesn't like links. :)
Dope Dope and more Dope man and it's actually wired to a KONG I would love to do a serious tap dance on that thing and get it poppin and I can actually tap dance to oh the beats that I can just create with it that $#!% would be BUMPIN! PROPS
Have you considered patenting this and selling it commercially? This would be amazing in clubs, even with just a professional dancer on it the whole time.
@xphungsiwax That's Reason 5's new Kong Drum Designer - a drum device inside the software. We're also using Max/MSP to do the sensor readings and to send MIDI notes to Reason.
what program was he using to create the schematic and then actually know where to put the wiring and soldering.. i would like to know so i can learn how to make things like that
@xdaxtruthx I would guess it was a CAD program. AutoCAD is a great program tho' it costs money, a lot of it. The MIDI controller in itself isn't very hard to do, it's not drumpads hooked together they've wired their own MIDI controller. The hard part is the LED's I would guess, you can check tutorials here on the tube for making your very own MIDI controller.
Now... Why is it that it's only us Swede's that make these types of things? Remember the piano stairs? I think it's time for you know :)
@xdaxtruthx Hey I actually used a Google SketchUp as my CAD program. That's what I sent to the Aluminum company that cut the frame pieces for me. The wiring I drew out in adobe Illustrator so I could make sure all the ins/outs were properly connected and so I knew how many connectors I needed, etc.
what program was he using to create the schematic and then actually know where to put the wiring and soldering.. i would like to know so i can learn how to make things like that

@modjaffamodjaffa Nej då... det e därför de snackar om stockholm... och alla har den hemska svenska dialekten... och vid 1:24 ser du skopunkten... inte alls svenskt, nej då
@Green502nd No we removed it. We didn't actually have permission to be any of the places we were so we couldn't keep it up. But that doesn't mean it can't come out to play again... ;)
It's amazing how cool this could be. You could do an entire rhythmic ensemble with two or three people dancing across the pads there. The next evolution of DDR!
I think the setup that NIN had on the LIghts in the Sky tour was bigger. Of course, that was on a touch sensitive light display so I guess this could still be the biggest "hardware" drum machine
That is amazing !!!!
