In my opinion Ibanez sound gears are some of the best basses, And i think they are the best for 5 strings and 6 strings. I play a 6 and the tone is just amazing, even if you have a crappy amp the sound gear can still pick up the slack

right over the fret (literally) you lightly put your finger on it (works great for frets 3,5,9,12 and so on) and a nice tone with come out sounding like this. They are great for tuning your bass too.

What you do, is (for example, on the fifthe fret), you place your fingers over the fret line, but don't press down, just place them lightly. Then pluck (depending on the quality of the bass, and which fret, you may have to pluck harder). The easiest (I find) are on frets 5, 7, 9, and 12.

If you want to get mathematical about it, you can touch lightly on any simple fraction of the string (1/2, 1/3, 1/4 so on). The smaller fractions get harder though. It also means that there are two places on the strings where you can find a given harmonic(except the first overtone): one over the neck and another somewhere over the body.

Anyone who hasn't been inspired by legends like Jaco, Marcus, Geddy, Chris (Squire), or Stanley in the past twenty years has been asleep at their bass. Indeed, Jaco put bass harmonics front and center back in the 70's. Victor may not realize it as he wasn't born yet, but I'm sure his influences were at some point influenced by the mad genius - Jaco Pastorius. Google Schofield and Pastorius or Marcus Miller and The Panther - no progressive bassist should miss out on witnessing their genius.

harmonics are when u lightly touch a string at the fret line and then play insted of pushing down all the way. they can only be played WELL on 4 parts of the neck but u can basicaly have a harmonic anywhere on the neck.

Great mix of harmonics overlaying the instrument's forceful bottom end. Now if you could mix in a little Marcus Miller or Geddy Lee inspired slap/funk (gasp) into your soloing you could be the next Jaco Pastorius. There's a lot of technically masterful players out there - but very few are able to combine beautifully structured harmonics with a broad range of techniques. You seem to be well on your way.
