"The Bible contradicts Mormon theology." That is a LIE! Mormon theology contradicts THEIR INTERPRETATION of the Bible. That does NOT mean that THEIR interpretation of the Bible is correct. In my experience as a missionary...those who TRULY desired to listen and obey the Holy ghost ALWAYS were baptized into the LDS church. So yes, the Holy Ghost guides all to believe in Christ, if they will INQUIRE, LISTEN, and follow!

God says in the Bible that man is under a curse if he starts trusting in man Jeremiah 17:5. Salvation though, does not come through the commandments, but by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. John 14:6 John 3 Romans 11:6 Ephesians 2:8-10. The commandments help us to see our guilt before God, because we cannot keep them Romans 3:236:23 10:9,10.

No witness and no one reported that JS used the Bible during the translation. There is also historical evidence that they were not lying, besides some of them went against JS, but never denied their testimony. Now, this does not prove the BofM, but it sure a good evidence. There you have it.

@TheSkepticChristian I did 5 years of seminary, covering the D&C twice, and having been out of the church for sometime my recollection of the Bible is fairly sketchy, but I find that the only way you can defend the Book of Mormon is by trying to cause others to doubt the Bible! Isn't that just a diversionary tactic?

There is a lot of historical evidence that they were sincere people, that's why some critics of the church like Brodie accused Joseph of hypnotizing the witnesses, but that accusation if very problematic. In my experience as a missionary...those who TRULY desired to listen and obey the Holy ghost ALWAYS were baptized into the LDS church. But I admit that is a biased opinion that is based only on my experiences. But very interesting to have observed. So yes, the Holy Ghost guides all to believe in Christ, if they will INQUIRE, LISTEN, and follow!

God says in the Bible that man is under a curse if he starts trusting in man Jeremiah 17:5. Salvation though, does not come through the commandments, but by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. No witness and no one reported that JS used the Bible during the translation. There is also historical evidence that they were not lying, besides some of them went against JS, but never denied their testimony. Now, this does not prove the BofM, but it sure a good evidence. There you have it.

@TheSkepticChristian I did 5 years of seminary, covering the D&C twice, and having been out of the church for sometime my recollection of the Bible is fairly sketchy, but I find that the only way you can defend the Book of Mormon is by trying to cause others to doubt the Bible! Isn't that just a diversionary tactic?
And what is this historical evidence that they weren't lying? You could argue that if they were accomplices to a lie, then why would they admit to it??

There is a lot of historical evidence that they were sincere people, that's why some critics of the church like Brodie accused Joseph of hypnotizing the witnesses, but that accusation if very problematic. If you do your real research, you would find out that the witnesses were sincere, Emma also witness the Golden Plates. Then there is the fact that the Bible was translated into 17th century English for the King James version, which has been proven is accurate to the dead sea scrolls, and yet, Jo Smith, a 19th century hill billy, with no real education, "translates" the BoM into 17th century English too, using words that weren't even around when the BoM was supposed to have been written!!

There are also leading DNA scientists that are believing Mormons, if you didn't know. Of course the indians came from Siberia more than ten thousand years ago. However a small group of Hebrews came to the Americas about 600 BC.

But there are very very serious issues in the Bible, and neither does DNA support the Bible.

I mean if you just look at the Bible as stories, at least geographically there is evidence, you can go to the towns and cities of the Bible, hundreds of them. What about those in the BoM? Were they swept away with Atlantis? Or did they return to heaven like "the golden plates"?
