I have never met Dr. Foster, and will never have the chance to now. But I respect what the man has built and this performance wrenched tears out of me.
As a SU jukebox alum.,and someone who understands what it's like to have a living legend like doc, you guys honored you band director in a way that would make him proud....very nice
I doo not know if anyine nitice at the very time Dr. White steps on the podium that if you look closely a WHITE object begins to float down to the left shoulder of Dr. White. This really caught my eye today, and did not notice this object until now.....
Exeptional. Thanks for sharing. I have no idea who Dr. Foster is, but I can assume the world was blessed by him by the accolades others here have given him.
OMG! This was a first for me to listen to &it was incredible! Jus INCREDIBLE! This is why i want to be apart of this band. I've never heard Elsa's Procession & I'm sure no one else plays it quite this magnificently. &I agree with grossb78 the world has lost a great director. idk from first hand but i can jus tell by all of the 100's performances. RIP Dr. Foster

This is my firs tyme hearin elsa's procession and i love it and i never knew dr foster made a big impact on hbcu marching bands around the world i am a tenth grader in my high school band i play quads LOL!!! i have so much 2 learn
This was chilling to listen to. What an honorable man. The world lost a great one. From an alumni member of the "101" to the members of the "100", I stand at attention in his memory. Word.
@grossb78 Thank you! Might I add that the reef presentation to our DMs was LOVELY at SCSU!!! We loved him DEARLY! I was actually sitting here thinking about my first meeting Doc... I had to come and watch this video.....Doc White was right EVERY member of the 100 knows Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral by heart....it is SEARED in our memories from the time we step in to the Band Practice room...and Doctor Foster made SURE that we got EVERY note and DYNAMIC RIGHT!!!! Hubba Doc!
Omg... I honestly just got chills listening to that. I got to hear the Marching 100 play this at the end of the UM game and I was singing along. Absolutely amazing. =)
Dr. Foster, I promise to go to FAMU and learn what you thought and keep your Legacy Running when i become a Band Director Down Here In San Antonio :')
@Goku608156 keep your promise young one it is a great aspiration to be a FAMU RATTLER and even greater to walk in the shoes of our GREAT DR. FOSTER- ALUMNI CLASS OF 72
Thanks for posting the video! But dawg, seriously what instrument has that droning note at the beginning... I don't remember but they were terribly out of tune. For the homecoming of The Law, it should have been right...
I remember the very first time Dr. Foster conducted Elsa's Processions to the Cathedral. We did not stop until we got right, his way and no other. Rehearsed it until he smiled and said gentlemen I think we are there. Dr. White did not let up either he's just as much a perfectionists and Dr. Foster were. The man made it fun to play in the symphonic Band back then. Love to play for Dr. Foster and a very proud member of the Marching "100"
@Mindadjust Doc did that all the time......He never changed......He made sure we got EVERYTHING right...Remember those moments when we stayed on ONE measure until it was to his liking even if it took 5 to 10 minutes on that ONE measure??? It didn't have to be Elsa's....Doc Foster was VERY precise....I loved Doc. Still do even though he's gone. That man was a Musical treasure...and a life long substitute/second father to a lot of us....Hubba Doc!
I'm so glad to see this video posted. For all of you not actually sitting in the concert that preceded Dr. Foster's funeral, those of us sitting at the bottom of Lee Hall Auditorium were totally fixed on the concert band playing on the stage in front of us, and all though we knew the rest of the band was in the balcony above we had no idea they would join in mid way through the piece. This is one of those once in a life time events where you had to be there to get the full effect. HUBBA DOC!
Overwhelming music!
