I hope to not offend anyone with my posting. R.I.P. to all the people who die riding motorcycles and my condolensces to all of there families. The roads suck on the island and are very twisty and narrow. The taxi drivers go fast on those turns and this guy might not have been at fault. Proper treatment for serious injuries is NOT on the island. The streets are also so crowded during the events that it is hard to walk let alone ride a scooter. Have fun but be safe.
That SUCKS! PLEASE take my advise and DONT rent a scooter in Thailand unless you are SUPER CAREFUL and have EXPERIENCE. I crashed in Chang Mai and Ive been riding for 16 years(drinking). I saw so many injured people at Had Rin(full moon party) and it looked like soldiers coming home from a war. At the FMP there are brain doctors at each end of the strip because of the numerous injuries. Also SOME of the renters will charge you the full price of the bike if you mess it up. $1,000 US DOLLARS
