  • Hey Everyone try (applemountaingr) videos on youtube, best golf lessons here trust me!!

  • great in-depth vid

  • great video!!!....I'm off to the tattooists now to get those marks tattooed on my hands! thanks for posting! :)

  • Excellent video! Simple and clear

  • Is there a video on how to get women like Tiger Woods? :P

  • This is a brilliant video. I was truly fed up of seeing different tutorials on how to grip the club, being completely unaware of the differences between them.

  • Nice work. In your opinion...the grip you select depends on how you swing the club? The control grip seems to have less control than the other two. My question...how can you hold onto the club during the swing if the heel pad is not on top of the shaft? My question isn't about weak or strong or neutral but just not having the club slip in your hands. Thanks.

  • This was very well done.the marks you made on your hands made it easy to see what you were talking about.i cannot wait to try this out

  • This is great advice. I have inadvertantly had my snuff box too much on the right and subsequently I have been fighting with hitting my irons left and my clubface always wants to close. Simply moving to neutral has corrected the flaw.

    Thank you.

  • I am using a neutral grip...but always ended up with blisters on the "d" and "c" points on my left hand... what's wrong? :(

  • This is one of the best video's on grip. Too many others don't teach all the options. I have large hands and have been using the distance grip for years, putting the club in the neutral postion has done wonders, and really not much loss of power because I'm hitting the ball more effectively.

  • very good !

  • Excellent golf grip video. Explains the various types of grip extremely well with great visual aids.

  • @agamegolf, hey game golf, i got a problem, my grip is great and i have small hands, use interlocking, my swing is a beauty always on plane, head never moves, and sometimes my left thumb slips out of place and changes the club face at impact!, i use a standard size grip, i dont know if i should strengthen the grip on my left hand, or right or both i just dooont know..

  • A golf course is a pointless exploitation of a perfectly good rifle range---

  • Hey great vid. I tried all grips on the range and I'm still shit. I blame your video for this and aim to take legal action for infact making me shitter at 'hitty ball with stick' screw your vid. 5 stars though. I hate you

  • Muchas gracias, great video, it helps a lot !!!

  • Comment removed

  • wow you really expanded the grips. thank you !

  • how should be a strong distance interlock grip? vid please

  • <very nice expertice over the Grip on Club !!! five Stars !!!

  • use should be a pga grip coach

  • I use the baseball grip......it's one of the strongest grips but also the most hardest to remain persistent

  • for some people this grip will work and for some it wont. every grip is like that cuz everyones hand it different. i typically have problems with my grip because most of my hands are palms and not fingers. i have big hands but my palms are a lot longer then my fingers.

  • i am interlocking, distance, and a neutral grip, i know it might seem like i would be copying tiger but im not ive always found it easier to interlock to keep my left thumb position intact, plus i have very small hands, also keeping the club along my finger lines naturally places my left thumb in the neutral position, so try this method of griping that i use its honestly so much easier to sqaure

  • Um, how is Tiger's grip a "Neutral Interlocking Distance Grip?" By the letters on your left hand Neutral and Distance grips are different spots, right? Did you mean "Neutral Interlocking Strong Grip?" Awesome video, thanks for taking the time and explaining!

  • Nice video!!

  • I always used the baseball grip. I changed to the interlock grip recently but my right hand became painful. I think had had developed a repetitive strain injury as a result. I have since returned to the baseball grip. Are there any negatives to using this grip?? Id like to point out another issue I was having with my left hand. When holding the club in the 'Control' position the grip was slipping back into the distance position at the top of my backswing. This was closing the club at impact!

  • Haha, the face the right hand made was funny. "Huh!? Whats going on?"

  • I use the baseball grip. people claim the overlap and interlock grip are better for when your hands get bigger and you get artharitest in them and stuff is this true?

  • Just wondering, how do you know exactly what Tiger's grip is? He has changed it. Some say in 2000 he has his thumbs almost underneath the shaft, and hank haney says that he now grips it in the left palm and not all in the left fingers. What are your comments AGameGolf?

  • great overview of all the different grips. the Distance, Neutral, Control on left hand was very useful. I use control for my short game and putting. feels much better.

  • Interesting to see that Phil Michelson Doesn't think palms facing each other is the right way to go.

  • Neutral Interlocking Distance Grip, sounds like a technique for masturbation

  • A very useful video presented very clearly. This is a must see for anyone who wants to learn how to develop a grip that fits their hands and their golf game! Great job on presenting this video!!

  • A change to a different grip WILL feel foreign at first. However, after a few sessions on the range AND seeing the results, you will be less inclined to go back to your old comfortable grip which was probably responsible for higher scores. Give the new grip a little time. You'll achieve lower scores and greater confidence in your game.

  • Very well done, thank you.

  • Supra detail.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks mate great stuff...

  • Hi

Take a look at my You Tube Video: "The Concept Of The Srong Weak Grip Is Wrong"

  • Great video, really explains the basics for gripping the club. Thanks!

  • Very accurate and helpful. Well done sir

  • First time that ive ever commented on youtube, and i have to say GREAT JOB and thank you very much. ive never had a consistent grip until now, ive always kind of played with it all throughout the round, now youve helped me find something comfortbale.

    INTERLOCK + DISTANCE + STRONG

  • Fantastic video. Helped helps. Thanks

  • That was epic

  • I don't normally comment on videos but this is worth it. This video has cured my slice from the tips and got me hitting straighter and further. I couldn't even hit my driver before without slicing, now im nailing it! Thanks

  • best golf grip video ever

  • Im not one for feedback and Ive watched a lot of videos on golf tips, but this worked for me. I normally hit 6 out of 10 driver shots with a Slice. My irons were useless. Now Im hitting 8 out of 10 perfectly straight and long, and my irons are accurate. Ive also shaved 10 shots off my score. Ive drawn the markings on my glove so that I remember to line up each time. Simple!

  • Might be the best vid on youtube!

  • Great video!

I've learnt quite a bit from watching that, much appreciated!

  • very useful

  • Really helpful. Can't wait to use these grips on the range tomorrow!

  • Thanks for comprehensive explanation of the various types of grips.

  • Disclaimer: Holding your club like Tiger Woods won't make you awesome at Golf.

  • @Cheedillow but it will give you the oppoertunity to swing better which in turn gives you the opportunity to play better :)

  • great video, finally my slice is gone

  • Excellent video; just had to have a slight grip alteration in a lesson and wasn't completely understanding everything the pro said about it. This has helped me understand much better. Thanks.

  • Now thats a detailed "handy" diagram!

I see you like golf! Any other hobbies?

  • Just want to thank for the video. Been struggling with a seemingly perfect grip, looking in atleast 10 magazines and still not getting the feeling of the hands being united. I turned out though that my grip-club that shows how to grip the club had the left thumb seperate from the pointing finger making an easy connection between both hands impossible. Finally I can get some sleep! Thx

  • Excellent video. The markings on the hand are great. This answered a ton of questions I had about grip. Now to try out a few things. Thanks a lot!

  • i dont do that pinky crossing the index thing.. is that bad?

  • same here but no its not bad (if your beginner). For me, it gives A LOT of control. I think its called the interlocking grip.

  • its not bad. locking the pinky and pointer is better but i know a few successful golfers that dont. i would get use to it though.

  • Its not bad it just means your using the 10 finger grip which doesn't unify the hands as well and give such good power and control. The grip you are using is good for younger and beginner golfers. I do advise you try the overlap grip though as it will help your game progress, though it will feel strange at first.

  • Very good video, it's all grip and nothing but the grip. Thank you.

  • excellent video. I'm just starting out and this helped me understand all the different types of grips easily.

  • Thorough, accurate, easy to understand, and yet extremely well organized. No wasted space / time in the vid. Great job.

  • clear speech! very good vid. :)

  • Best video I ver saw on grip. Evert

  • best grip explanation i've seen, bar none.

  • Great video!

  • type in" clemshaw," he is the best golf teacher i have found so far, easy to understand everything.

  • Yeah well he can spank your Butt playing left or right handed.

Shawn Clement is the Bomb. He makes things clear

  • I doubt that. Club pros are weak golfers most only play once or twice a week if that. I play every day (providing its not raining) which gives the upper hand also; with all that movement in his swing hes bound to be inconsistent. that being said, he is always welcome to join our game providing he can cover the nut to get in...

  • Oh Yeah you are a Big Dicked Daddy from Cinncinatti.

He's quite a bit more than a club pro.

And I bet you dont have 2 nickels to rub together

  • Most of the women I boink would agree with that. You must have met one and she told you about my very large how do you do. OK, so hes a teaching pro, same shit, I take their money every day for the most part. I am a trust fund baby I get well over the medium income every year and don't do shit for it. I have never worked a day in my life and I am not rich but have more than enough to play golf everyday and boink young girls with my bigger than average Johnson

  • Good video very educational. I will say this... Hogan used an overlapping grip and his right hand gripped with his fingers however, not as you suggested. Gripping with the index finger creates too much right hand dominance, if you grip with the two middle fingers of the right had in a interlocking grip you can swing without the thumb and forefinger on the grip to give your left hand the upmost control

  • Very good point. In this situation you should be able to swing the club with index finger pointing at the ground and thumb up in the air while the rest of the fingers grip the shaft. It's almost as if you are making the 'GUN' notion with index and thumb while gripping the club.

  • Thanks for this video. I'm trying to correct my swing out at the range, and the part where you talk about having a strong grip is exactly what I found myself having to do to correct my horrendous drive slice. Great information!

  • Very informative....a suggestion would be to SHOW at a range all three different grips and the impact on the shots while using a control...a pro who can replicate severals hots exactly the same, the same club, same ball...this way we the view can see how the ball is impacted..and the end result

  • simple and comprehensive, thanks.

  • Very useful. Thank you.

  • great lesson! thanks

  • I teach golf and that is by far the most complete video on the grip I have ever seen, Well done dude - you nailed it....

  • I've been using the overlap grip this whole time and I have very small hands...Stupid teacher. I'm going to try the interlock grip. Thanks!

  • Keep in mind, a grip change could feel strange for a while and it may have a temporary negative impact on your ability to play, but it could pay off dividends if you stick with it. Also while an overlap or interlock grip may favor certain hand sizes, you can still use a different style because it may just feel better. Grip is largely about feel, any anything that can help you to feel more comfortable will help you to focus on other swing aspects and not fidget with the grip.

  • I've been working on my swing hard the past 2 weeks - things like tempo, wrist cock, waist and shoulder turn, alignment, and swing plane. Most recently I've been hitting a hook and it was getting frustrating because I didn't want to undo any of the things I was working on to fix the hook.

I realized yesterday my grip was way too strong (almost 4 knuckles) and if a simple grip change could fix me, I'll be elated.

  • The best Video on Grip I've ever seen! Great Job!!!

  • very very well composed. . .

  • thanks for a good video. i was taught that the thumbs should be inline. guess i need to adjust my grip :P

  • Watched this a while ago, came for a recap, helped my game a lot, especially with Driver

  • This is an awesome tutorial for any player. I have been playing at a 6 for the past year or so, and have seen a recent jump in my scores. I just haven't been comfortable over the ball and noticed that my grip has been getting progressively weaker. Thanks for the great video. AWESOME JOB !

  • well done. I figured this information out over a two year period. It would have been much quicker and my game would have developed much quicker if I would have seen your video a long time ago. Thanks a million for the post and I sure hope others realize the weight of this infor. Slicers and hookers alike. Changing the hand position is the key to fixing your slice. I tried every way I could think of to fix my slice. Then my hook. ?????? It was my changing hand position. Try it. It works.

  • Thanks for making this video =D Im starting golf, so this really helps a lot

  • great video chap a detailed and helpful video that hasnt realy been picked up on as the videos u normally see is swing plane or stance great help many thanks!

  • very helpful, the only trouble isthe marker pen lol.

  • that grip is unbeliable wrong your club should on realy be on your fingers not your palm

  • did you not watch the video??

the position of the grip depends on what you're abilities are and what you're trying to accomplish. There are pros and cons to each position so you have to decide what works best for you.

  • @BLJBHOY if you want your comments to be taken serious, learn to spell!

  • Very informative. Nicely done.

  • Great help - easy understandable. Changed my grip from weak to strong to stop slice. Works fine. THX!

  • This is excellent information... Thank you !

  • this was helpful.. thank you

  • ME TOO

  • This was a concise and wonderful tutorial! NOT AT ALL complicated as some pinheads have suggested here.

  • Excellent!

  • Great lesson on grip!! A little complicated at times but hey, golf is a complicated game!!! Very helpful!!

  • im 15 i ocaissonaly slice the ball and at the moment im not hitting my irons well.I suspect its my grip what grip do you recomend? because i just want to hit my irons straight i dont care that much about distance

  • that means your lower body is moving ahead of your upper and when that happens your club face opens up and "slices" across the ball so try throwing your upper body first and your lower should catch up

  • thanks you were right about that

  • no worries dude i had the same problem

  • like tenorplayermike said i had this problem and i found out that when i was swinging i was trying to kill it (very bad don't do that) that i would open my hips and then i would slice the ball big time.

  • unless your Anthony Kim... lolz

  • just buy the leadbetter grip aid for a proper grip. this guy is out of control.

  • Many pros teach different variations of the grip. This video if for those people who are interested in knowing what effect those variations have so they can customize their grip to fit their own needs. If you are comfortable with they way Leadbetter teaches the grip then great. There are many more grip aids than Leadbetters that are just as good and much cheaper as well.

  • yes, you pick a weak/neutral/strong grip which is how much your hand is rotated around the grip and you also decide how the grip is held in the fingers for distance or in the palm for control.

  • I've seen it and it's very funny. The important thing in golf is that you understand the consequences of specific actions so that when you want to acheive a different result with the golf ball, you have an idea how to accomplish it.

  • grips can do a number of things.

    1. increase distance if you put the club more in your fingers or increase consistency and accuracy if you place the grip more in your palm.

    2. if your goal is to have a square clubface at impact, you alter the grip toward weak or strong based on whether you are currently hitting a hook or a slice, which can compensate (somewhat) for flaws in your swing.

    3. intentionally want the ball to draw or fade? you can use a stronger or weaker grip also to do that.

  • that normally would take about a half hour lesson and 40 bucks

anybody who is a good golfer knows how crucial a good grip is

  • Very unique and insightful. Well done and thanks.

  • great video. very insightful. I have a company golf tournament coming up and I just wanted a few pointers so I don't look stupid, but you've provided much more. however the video does go very fast

  • when you wrap your fingers around the grip, the tips of your fingers should just barely touch or nearly touch the palm of your hand. If there is a big gap, your grips are too big and you should get smaller grips so that your hands can work together more easily.

  • Wow.

Gripping a club should not be rocket science. Unless you have tiger's hands, you can't grip it like tiger woods. There are some fundamentals like the V's and gripping in the fingers. Try to play arround these fundamentals to find yourself a grip you will feel confortable with and won't slip.

  • True however it doesn't hurt to understand the fundamentals and the consequences of each variation especially for those who don't understand the cause behind the results they're getting

  • Beeing a very technical golf player, I find that sometimes knowing too much is just as bad as knowing too little.

What do you think about that?

  • I don't think you can know too much, but I do think you can think too much when at the course. It's great to understand why the ball responds in certain ways so you can achieve better control or correct mistakes quickly, but you also need to be able to focus properly during execution.

  • sweet!

  • It's an okay technique but mine is a little more intense. Check out my video, beginners.

  • A "Weak" grip is determined by where your hand is located "around" the club for example: rotate your hand "around" the club with your thumb to the "left" side of the grip = Weak Grip. A control grip is based on the shaft running through the middle of your hand across the palm verses a Strong grip with the golf shaft at the base of the fingers.

  • thanks for this- without doubt the best grip explanation I have come across in either video or text anywhere!

  • I watched this video this morning and practiced at the range. Very good info! I experimented with grips and I found just the right one for me! Thanks for the video lesson!

  • Very good info on the difference in grips. just started to play again and keep drawin the ball but this will help me.

  • Damn, great. The thing I`m working on right now, is the grip. This will definately help me.

  • hi, ive been playing golf a long time and like most dont get the around to having lessons like i should to get out of bad habits that sneak in.....between this and your other vids on set up and slicing....i think you have saved me not just the a few buck, but the precious time it takes get lessons.

i can now see how weak my grip has become over time (20yrs) after always trying not to have an overly strong grip.

    great work thanks..

  • i have a question, My swing is ok, but I dont see why Im only hitting it 250-260 at the max...please help me and take a quick look at my swing.

  • There are primarily 2 things that affect your driving distance. Clubhead speed and your equipment. The easiest way for you to try different ways to increase your clubhead speed is by viewing the videos on my site from long drive competitors giving their secrets to hitting the long ball. Go to AGameGolfInstruction. com and click on Blog and then click on Video Driver Instruction.

  • Regarding your equipment, try going to a local golf equipment supplier that has the computerized equipment to tell you whether your driver is maximized for your swing. They need to be able to look at the launch angle you hit the ball and the spin rate of the ball. There is an optimum launch angle to get the most distance. Also, if you spin the ball too much, you can loose 20-30 yards or more.

  • Excellent video. Straight to the point. thanks!

  • i used the control grip today and it is fantastic thanks

  • The biggest grip influence on your release will be the angle at which the golf shaft runs through your left hand. The more it's in the fingers, the better the release, however, you also give up some control. Also, making sure your palms face each other will ensure your hands ability to release is maximized.

  • I've seen a pro or two that teach the long thumb but most that I've seen teach retracting the thumb. For me retracting the thumb gives me much better feel with my right hand. Experiment for a week with one and a week with the other. A grip change is always uncomfortable because it feels very unfamiliar. Even if the new grip is better, it takes a while to acclimate to it.

  • great work
