  • I've suffered from botched medical tourism in Costa Rica and tried to go threw the court system which was a joke. there is no protection when something goes wrong for the patient. Please watch my video and help get out the other side of this growing trend.

  • Thailand Surrogacy provides ethical surrogacy in Thailand, including gestational surrogacy, egg donation, gender selection, IVF, and other fertility treatments. We also work with gay and lesbian couples.

  • i agree with the above comment ..This AMA is extremely powerful and is partly responsible for the mess of the medical system in the US.!

  • I can't stand Ryan Owens. He doesn't display his condescending attitude in this segment, but he is at the core an arrogant, chauvinistic, homophobic creep. I wish ABC News would give him his walking papers.

  • Please check out trailer for our IVF film coming out early 2011 search “The Island of Hope” Trailer

  • This Medical Tourism Industry has created many oportunities for people looking for high quality care and affordable prices.

It is also true that it involves many benefits and risks. The best thing is to get as much information as you can before making a final decision.

  • I knew that People flood to the US for our Health care well who is laughing now Fox news's goons BECK, Hannity, and Coulter.

  • I had also a great experience in Bolivia, I went there with an organization(Makeover Travel), they offered me a Surgical Guarantee and they never asked me a cent before I could evaluate their services, I think that this is what made me take the decision to go over there.

    I paid 7500DOLLARS for a tummy tuck, 5 areas liposuction and my breast augmentation, and I have no regrets at all, I love the country and I think that is a new Latin American destination to consider;

  • I have heard also that Costa Rica is well known for dentistry, some of my friends went there and some them were happy and loved their results and some others didnt like them, I think that this is why is important to listen opinions, to judge and to take the best decision because you are trusting your life and appearance and this is not a game,is not just about the money is more about hope and about trust.

  • Yes, I had a surgery done in Istanbul in fall 2008 . I saved $ 10,000 including travel cost. It was fantastic. I even had a sight seeing tour of the city. I used Medical Tourism Istanbul .

  • I love this author...He has exposed so much about the american medical costs than he realizes. I appreciate his research.

  • One of the big reasons why medicine is expensive in the US is due to the American Medical Association (AMA). This is a very powerful lobby made of doctors and prevents new medical colleges from being opened in the US, officially because the quality of the doctors must be preserved. Actually, it is to keep the salary of the doctors high. This AMA is extremely powerful and is partly responsible for the mess of the medical system in the US.

  • @parunach1

damn right! They have done much damage to the US over the years.

  • @parunach1 ,

The medical education in US is expensive..... in India at-lest its free in public univreisties (although most graduates go abroad after getting a subsidized education ).

I think charitable organizations should sponsor medical education of doctors.....in return for a agreement or something gives them a normal salary....atleast for say 5-10 yrs...

  • I had surgery in Burumgrad hospital. I was very pleased w/ the result of my surgery. Some comments are: 1.You should be prepared & ask about the extra costs that are not included in the estimates of the surgery. The cost of my surgery is Thb29,000 but I paid extra Thb20,000 for other misc.items(hidden charges) 2. Plan your surgeries ahead co'z you only have 1 month w/o visa & 7 days ext. only.I feel it's not worthy for me to pay $300 extra just to change my flight for a 7 days extension.

  • This is just the beginning. This is the future of health care in America until we get tort reform and doctors are not required to carry millions of dollars in medical malpractice insurance.

  • hmmm, thats pretty cool. ive never thought much about that

  • Couldn't agree more. Look into DAL International Ltd, a US company building global medical networks to help US citizens gain access to this type of medical care

  • Really good article. We in Malaysia have also started to offer this service to tourist who came here not just for the nice view but also for high quality dentistry at affordable price
