  • Down the IRA. From a Mexican. Lol

  • Ho Ho Ho

    He He He

This used to be a popular drink in Scotland but we often used sweet stout as opposed to that Guinness shite

  • how do you pour a black and tan?why, you melt him down an then POUR him down the sewer.

  • I can safely say this "drink" is the biggest insult to Arthur Guinness or John Smithwick or indeed the Irish people, imaginable, also please do not dare blacken the Irish name or reputation by calling it a "classic Irish drink".

  • 0:01

  • I cant hear "pale ale" without laughing :D

  • COME OUT YER BLACK AND TANS COME OUT AND FIGHT ME LIKE A MAN OOH AH UP THE RA!

  • @85throwdown fuk you mon, we nat dun shit to yooz irish bwoiz, if ya nat respec rasta den shove it!

  • In Ireland I always thought a Black and Tan was made with Smithwicks and Guinness. Other's often ask for a pint of Smithwicks with just a Guinness head.

  • @Dragon1918 That's a pint of Special. Whereas in Scotland a pint of special would be a pint of 70/- shilling or Heavy. Wouldn't mind one right now actually.

  • I prefer carbombs, meself

  • the spoon doesnt need to bent works just as well when its straight

  • isnt this just like a black velvet? instead of cider you're using pale ale?

  • If you fill the glass more than 2/3's and top it off with a stout, When you tilt the glass to drink it you get a little of both, it's the essence of the drink. Too much stout and all you got is a nifty bar trick. I say 12 oz lager bottle, 1/2 bottle of the stout in an imperial pint glass.

  • Bloody Americans showing how much they know about the world again.

  • It's certainly far from a 'traditional Irish drink'. Forget the ale/lager and go with the Guinness on its own!

  • You dont even need to bend a spoon, just pour the guiness slowly without and it works!

  • does new castle count asa pale ale?

  • @mondo1908

Bass is a pale ale, Harp is a lager, both work well.

Not really, but I've have used a belgian Peche/Kriek lambic and Guiness stout as a tasty treat. Harp is one great lager and Bass a great pale ale. Perry/ hard Cider goes well too, I think it's called a black velvet. Try it, if it's good tell someone...

This is my favorite drink BTW, got some on the shirt as we speak.

  • @mondo1908 Most common used beer for this is BASS. I wouldn't recommend Newcastle for it as it's probably too sweet for the standard black and tan. Go ahead and try it though. Might be good.

  • You may have won the award for the biggest imbecile in the world...

It's hard to find this much ignorance in one place......

  • Excellent instructional vid! Well done!

  • Got it on my first try. Cheers!

  • gotta try today

  • the end of that demonstration makes it seem like we were the vicious cunts

  • Why don't the Irish drink it? Because it's the same name given to soldiers who caused harm before your parents or grandparents were even born? Show the world that your not pathetic. Show them that dark history can't be related to a name or object but instead by the people responsible. How can a drink or name cause harm to people who wern't even around to see it. It's like me not eating pasta because the Romans were Italian and occupied my countrys yonks ago.

  • true that brotha

  • @grobo11 Guess it's ok to make a cream cheese spread for bagels called "SS Shmear", right?

  • @redmunkee Yeah right. It's just a name. Just because there are two words in the front of it "SS" doesn't mean it had anything to do with the Waffen SS does it?

  • Comment removed

  • @grobo11 denying history is naive. If Americans knew that, perhaps they wouldn't have so many enemies abroad. Your analogy to ancient Romans is flawed, because that happened way too long ago. Persecution of the Irish by the British continued into recent times (some would says it continues still): it takes a long time to heal such wounds. To use a better example you might understand, what about "Master & Slave" as the name of a drink? How about "9/11 Bomber" for a cocktail? What? Too soon?

  • @IanHJames LOL! My family is Irish mate and they've never suffered any prejudice and neither have their friends, do you even know what you're talking about? You seem to have this idea fixed in your head that the British (more precisely the English) and Irish still hate each other and treat each other as shit.

Also, if you bothered looking at my channel instead of being a prat you would discover that I am not American and therefore couldn't care less about the "Master and Slave" remark.

  • @grobo11 I'm not saying you are American. Have you ever been to Northern Ireland? Do you not think many people there still see British rule as oppressive? Of course, most English and Irish people get along perfectly well, but there was also a lot of hatred. IRA bombing continued into the 90's - that is recent times. Personally, I don't care about the name Black & Tan, but other people may have a different perspective and I think we should try to understanmd that and respect that.

  • @IanHJames I have family in Northern Ireland and my uncle was killed in an IRA attack. British rule is not oppressive in Northern Ireland, Sinn Fein are allowed to protest freely on public property against the UK goverment and they are not disturbed or even threatend by the goverment, that isn't oppresion, how can you call that oppression?

  • @IanHJames Also you've taken it out of context. This drink is named after its black and tan colour, not the mercenaries themselves, it isn't an honour to them, they just happen to have the same name.

Now naming a drink "9/11 bomber" is different because it isn't describing any characteristic of the product rather than actualy trying to piss people off.

  • @grobo11 Again, you are reading things into my remarks which I have not actually said. I did not claim it was named after the mercenaries. Indeed, the name predates the Royal Irish Constabulary Reserve by about 3 decades. However, it is the *association* which bothers many people. Perhaps you should try a "9/11 Bomber" to see if it fucks you up, and then tell me if the name is descriptive or not! But I think that is a hypothetical drink.

  • @IanHJames Like I said before (and you have) black and tan is a coindidental name, 9/11 bomber is not, if it exsisted then it would be blatently obvious that it would be named after that incident and that is the difference betweem the two.

So what we should just re name something everytimes it may 'offend' a community? That is ridiculous, do you know the amount of insignificant things that people get worked up over? i.e. the name of this beverage.

  • @grobo11 wow... it's a drink for the love of pete... who gives a care one way or the other. If they don't want to drink it, so be it

  • Black and tan isn't Irish...

  • "Black & Tans" were the Royal Irish Constabulary, brit paramilitaries who terrorized Irish people

  • This is not a traditional irish drink, i work in a bar in dublin. why would we name a drink after the scum who murdered the innocent.

  • @Nemes1sTKD Let there be love mate. Love... and a pint of draught....

  • @Nemes1sTKD only stupid people call them black and tans. its a half n' half.

  • ur supposed to use harp and guinness.

  • You can use Bass and Guinness.

  • a traditional irish "half and half" is guinness and harp. an american "black and tan" is guinness and bass.

  • amen, bass is not as good as harp

whether its traditional irish or not

  • Comment removed

  • in ireland they call it a half and half.

  • in the states a half and half in Guinness and Smithwicks

  • i thought Irish wernt supposed to drink black and tan. the black and tans fucked ireland

  • correct they call it a half and half because the black and tans were british troops who occupied ireland and tortured and treated the people like crap untill ireland won their independence. and they do not use bass. instead they use harp.

  • It's supposed to use Bass Ale from jolly ol' England!

  • You can tell these people drink alcohol because it makes them "cool." It didn't make you cool when you were 15, it's not cool now (the give-away is that people who really enjoy a good beer don't grin like idiots while knocking their glasses together).

  • Yo Skit, you're hella fat.

  • Marty Martini likes this video, but thinks the narrator's voice should sound more like a 50's TV commercial voice. (Also, the announcer from the "Smilin' Bob" commercials!) For a good Meechelada, search "socalbooze" in youtube, by the way... :)

  • ...this guy's voice annoys me...

  • the giants lost haha

  • thank you so much for this wonderfull video. it gave me, how you say, big boner?

  • you need harp and guinness not pale ale or lager

  • the only reason they say harp is because its an irish LAGER made by the guinness brewing company, but all you need is something light enough that the two tone is easily visable

  • i went througha 4 pack of the black and a six of the tan and it never looked right...gonna try it again later with this new info

  • i only drink hard liquor }:|

  • wow you're really hardcore. theres nothing like having a steak with nice glass of vodka.

  • Nice

  • sjolvandi ikki!!!

  • hi howcast luv ya!

  • I absolutely love Guinness.

  • euw

  • fooking no good

  • awesome. i didn't know the pale ale head was beneficial to the guinness pour.

  • Thank you this is really useful for me. XD

  • Do the same but use Stronbow Cider! Its much better..... Its called a Black Velvet!

  • That Black Velvet sounds awesome. I love Strongbow.

Something else that is really good is alternating a mouthful of mead (honey wine) with Guinness. The sweet of the mead and the bitter of the Guinness compliment each other quite well.

  • yay ireland:)

  • I WAS ABOOUT TO leave a comment saying i bet no one knows why its called a black n' tan
