  • Thanks Kari (who is an activist in Portland Oregon) - Good report back

  • I'm glad that Keith mentioned the Goldman-Sachs connection. All four local broadcast news stations in Seattle refused to acknowledge or even raise the issue. Occupy Seattle, Portland, Oakland, and L.A. all targeted terminals owned or operated by Goldman Sachs. This was not, as the lazy news services claimed, a "close the ports" demonstration.

  • I'm glad to hear the 'issue' of weapons being discussed with reasonably. I personally would not have brought a sidearm to a protest, but speaking as a single woman who has been sexually assaulted on the street, if that person has a permit to carry, it was perfectly legal for them to have their firearm with them. There are legitimate reasons why people in our society are 'permitted' to carry self-defensive measures

    Now, the sword? [*shrugs* ;-]

    And the walkie-talkies? I only hope they didn't b

  • As a British person it amuses me concerning the Presidential Candidates the Republicans are putting up , how anyone can take this motely crew serious , a bunch of misfits , mentallly challenged know nothings'..only in it for the money' but because they are all totally unfit material for such a position they are dangerous only in that they are like spoilt ill educated children given power or a machine gun. I dislike our Government but they would have to go some to be like the Republicans.

  • HEY HOUSTON PD - PVC can be easily cut with STRING (using friction) which would cause zero chance of accidentally cutting a civillian, and needs no safety equipment except gloves for the cutter. You're welcome.

  • @grrlygirl383 Would string cut the bolt that went through the PVC into the chains inside? That is what they had to cut to remove the PVC pipes from the arms of the protesters. Maybe you were uninformed as to how the PVC was attached? You're welcome.

  • How in the heck can PLASTIC PVC pipe cause sparks when they are cut? That's weird.

Also wanted to mention to keep an eye out for news from OccupyPittsburgh. BNY Mellon, the banking corp, who owns Mellon Green Park gave them an eviction notice for this past Sunday. So far nothing has happened on the police end. They haven't raided the camp yet. However, the Occupiers served BNY Mellon and eviction notice yesterday, which I found to be AWESOME! And nobody is covering OccupyPittsburgh.

  • @darsdoodles There was a bolt that went through the PVC into the chains inside. That is what they had to cut to remove the PVC pipes from the arms of the protesters, and it would definitely spark. The media seems to be overlooking that little detail. I am in Houston and saw up close.

  • @darsdoodles PVC is highly flammable but would not create sparks. I think the argument is invalid seeing as that they covered 6 of us that were lying linking arms. I was one of the ones in the last shot having the tent lowered above me, were only had our arms linked. The houston police roughed up the people in the pvc but were pretty careful with us, they obviously thought they might do something that they wouldn't want the media to see. Solidarity from austin

I'm pretty sure a loaded gun is illegal in Portland.

Unless you have a permit, it has to be unloaded in the city limits.

  • @charlesvan13 there are no laws in Oregon that make having a loaded gun illegal. You can only conceal a weapon if you have a permit. Swords, gas masks, and guns are not illegal unless of course you are threatening someone with it or firing it.

  • @Fluxx84

In the state it is legal. But cities, such as Portland, have laws that make it illegal to have a loaded gun unless you have a concealed handgun permit. It is illegal to have an accessible loaded gun in your car.

  • PVC pipes cause sparks when cut?!

  • @poinoup There was a bolt that went through the PVC into the chains inside. That is what they had to cut to remove the PVC pipes from the arms of the protesters, and it would definitely spark. The media seems to be overlooking that little detail. I am in Houston and saw up close.

  • Totally superficial, but (at first) I thought that it was dandruff (!!!) on Keith's shoulders... but then realized that it was the dotted fabric on the back of his vest. (smile)

  • @bragawave Someone on Twitter commented that the polka dots looked like snowflakes. Very seasonal. :) I love the fact that he keeps shaking things up. Fun to try to figure out what he'll do next.
