  • WHat kind of opener did you use? Chain Drive? Screw Drive? 8-ft solid rail or 7-ft with an extension?

  • Great, I have a sliding door and thought I was unable to get a opener. I shall give this a go!

  • Thanks for the vid, looks like you done a good job fab-ing it up......and on another note, anyone wondering what the "tesla turbine" is,....it's just some dumbass that is trying to re-invent the wheel....he made a air motor using cd's big effing deal

  • Hey thanks for the video.

I'm looking at moving into a house that has the same kind of garage door as the one you've shown here, but no opener.

Is there anything I should know about setting up an opener for this style of door? Special parts/etc?

    Thanks!

  • 1) make sure the door runs freely with no bumps or it will reverse on you.

    2) make the bracket really strong.

    3) fly me to the USA and I'll install it for you. :)

  • I still like this idea. You're lucky that you don't have to deal with the non-contact safety sensors that our government has made mandatory for all garage door openers since 1993 ( I think that's the correct year.)

What has been the most difficult door for you to automate?

  • Could you do that with both sliding doors?

  • wtf... you have made a big accomplishment! opening a garage door!

  • yeah man - I thought I could patent it or sell it to NASA - this one could make me rich! - thanks for the comment! :)
