I must criticise this video. It starts very badly. First thing is OpenOffice?? What a bad example! I know it's an example which is important to so many people, that's what they are afraid they will miss, but it clearly is not an example of free software being more inovative than proprietary software. Free software oftens shows you how much better things could be if design was not emcumbered by proprietary policies.
I want the window manager to be as minimal as possible and just stay out of my way. Let me get to my apps. I don't want to spend all day organizing what I'm doing into different desktops.
I don't really like the idea that desktop image shrinks when you pull down the menu... But I like that effect on multiple desktops. Because of this I'll switch completly to Linux. I love GNOME!
@CultOfTheGlenda Could also be a glitch in the recording software or a sub-optimal pc. Was running great on my pc. Oh, and I didn't know it was sarcasm, didn't notice the choppiness part :O

@SkyHiRider It was sarcasm, but it explains why the animation is so choppy!

That looks good. Which graphics card do you have? Are you using an open source free driver?

@anotherelvis Answering myself based on the blog. This is a Dell Latitude 2100 netbook with an Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950.
