Out of the entire DKC series, this one had the best sound-track. The first one had decent tracks, the third one had a few good ones, but the tracks in this one were distilled into pure awesome.

I totally agree. Limitation often breeds creativity. Early game composers always said how they had to squeeze a lot out of limited technology, but great ideas come through this process.

The sound composers relied on the melody line and had to use simplicity. Like what was mentioned on an Extra Credits video (Great series), a lot of the sounds today tend to get in the way of one another. I highly recommend checking out that episode. ;) "Videogame Music"

Rare isn't the same anymore, unfortunately. Even if they ever come back to Nintendo, most of Rare personnel left, including the Stamper brothers, the ones responsible for founding the company.

Rare's acquisition by Microsoft was, definitely, the end of an era in video gaming history.

Wouldnt Donky Kong 64 be the foruth DKC of sorts? Either way. from DKC1-3 and the N64 title are all classics for their own reasons but the snes games remain king :D this one being the best DKC game music wise. Cant be the best one though. That has to be the first. Cause the fist as the kong him self.

Nintendo owns everything pertaining to Donkey Kong. Assuming Jolly2Lolly was talking about DK64, the only thing keeping that game from being released is that arcade minigame Jetpac, which is 100% Rare property (that's my theory, at least).
