  • I really wish I could've been there :( :( :(

  • I've had the line, "whether they are fucking or whether it's playing golf" in my head going on 15 years now.

  • dont drink, dont smoke, dont fuck thats straight edge? in that case FUCK STAIGHT EDGE

  • the fact that straigt edge became a movement proves people always will follow someone else. one black sheep leaves the herd, all the others follow after him.

  • AHAHA!!! Starting at :48 seconds is some hilarious shit. You know who's humor (and philosophy of music) reminds me a ton of Ian? Kurt Cobain. They were (are, in Ian's case) both hilarious.

  • Nah, they hate that they started a movement. It was never their intention.

    Fucking amazing band, regardless.

  • That's the one thing I loved and still love about Minor Threat. Their straightedge was for them and during a time where drugs and alcohol were destroying forgotten youth, they gave a new look at yourself. It wasn't about straightedge or get beat up, or even about being straightedge; essentially it was about ignoring any mold. Be yourself. For them being themselves was being straightedge. As long as you respected them, they respected you. The way it should be.

  • @aw230012 That's exactly right. It's too bad that some people took it as something like a religious cult, because it wasn't intended to be a movement. Movements always have an opposition.

  • thank you blitzkrieg501, the straight edge thing was a statement against the status quo of the people in that scene at that time and place, the basis of most punk rock, which is standing up to the status quo and not being afraid to stand up for what you believe, or just generally being your self regardless of what others think. people take that shit way to seriously, think of what you believe in and stand up for because its what you believe, not because its trendy.

  • Ian didn't intend for this to become a movement, this is just something he believed in for himself. Everyone thought this was something the entire band contributed to and enforced on others. Their lyricism is about straight edge most times, but stripped down its about the power of freedom of opinion and choice. That is the base of punk rock.

  • @Blitzkrieg501 well said!

  • @Blitzkrieg501 right?? people 2day comeplety totally transformed the meaning of "straight edge" so pretty much its not the same meaning any more like when ian was around...oh well...whatever...world keeps spining

  • some of the best hc punk ever...but i hate what they are about

  • @cockfart666 equality and being yourself? they dont enforce straight edge on ohers...

  • Minor threat is a gread old school band. I love them. I loved them in 1990's and I love them now. True straight edge punk.

  • I don't smoke. I don't drink. I don't fuck. At least I can fucking THINK!!!!!!!

  • @mikerebel 1 of those 3 isn't your choice

  • @metabolife what do you mean by that?

  • ok, who's the dumbfuck that gave one of the best punk bands of all time a 'thumbs down'?

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!there no more band like this! why?sorry for my english from algeria!

  • Ian's stage presence is so frickin' awesome

  • fuck yes. straightedge pride.

  • @explodingpuppy thats like the exact opposite of a hippy minus the drinking. where you come from sounds like the butthole of the world. everything is ass backwards...sorry bassakwards

  • Ian Mackye is a revolution.

All the attitude and used for a healthy lifestyle promotion.

He wasn't saying oh im elite, no straightedge kid is....they're just saying hey WE don't like it and if you can bitch at us why cant we?

Johnny Rotten said, "anger is an energy force," and Ian used it to change minds of the youth.

    Viva le threat

  • I like how they involve the audience.

  • this is old school Straight Edge!YYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHH
