Just got a point to make, I'm a atheist in case you were wondering, well apparently no one ever believed that the earth was flat. It has ALWAYS been considered spherical. Even by the ancient civilisations. It was more believed, by idiots, that the world was a sphere encompassing a cube. Just had to point that out. I'm pedantic like that. Oh, and we can bitch about creationists all we want but they won't change, another thing that needed pointing out.

Ok i'm Catholic. I believe in god and all that. But people not understanding how to read the bible is the biggest missconception there is.

The Old testement was never inteded to be taken 100% literally by readers. Most of it was for the Jews 4000 years ago. Stories like creation was NOT supposed to be EXACTLY what it says, but just say that god played a part in our creation.

And a thing science doesnt explain: What created the big bang?

Answer: God is the most reasonable answer

I have to disagree - honesty is always the best policy so if we don't know, we say so until we find the answer. It may be impossible to know but that is no excuse for making up false answers. If you say God did it, my response would be How? How much energy was required? Does it take more than 1 god? Could a human do it?

First the old testament is full of violence but alot of the time Israel was defending its self. Also the old testament IS NOT meant to be taken literally like a history book.

But Hitler, Stalin & Pol Pot rejected christianity. Stalin even slaughted priests and destroyed churches. This was an attempt to make himself more like a god on earth (although he wasnt trying to make himself a God, just be worshipped like one)

Yes it was suposed to me interpereted literally. The Acient Hebrews litterally believed that the earth was flat. I think the idea of taking the Bible metaphorically actually started in Germany if I'm not mistaken.

So why do scientists say that they have no idea what was before the big band, we may never know but it was deefinetly not god? If science's job is to provide answers then its not doing its job. I would like science to tell me what made the big bang. The ONLY explaination we have is There had to be some sort of powerful force to create it = God.

@Pawluk44 Why is god the most reasonable answer? You can't just arbitrarily pick some answer as being the most reasonable one. Something that happened so long ago is obviously going to be difficult/time consuming to find out about. There are ideas in the scientific community about the cause of the Big Bang, but we don't know yet because we are still gathering evidence. We may never know. But a lack of scientific proof is not evidence for god any more than it is evidence for a magic sky cat.

Religion, I feel is the most contradictory subject to argue about. When arguing religion versus atheism all the religious can do is quote from the bible which has been written and altered for their religion. The only "pure" remaining religious book is the Qu'ran and even that has been re-interpreted many times.

When you realize that the Bible is reliable and the Word of God you can see that if God is who he said he is, He must speak truth. Genesis was given to man inspired by God and must be true. We can only assume what happened with our "science" Our text books change as we learn more. God doesn't. God was there.

You are using circle logic - The bible is the inspired word of god because it is written in the bible - a completely invalid argument. We only have to assume 2 things with science (1) There is a reality (2) We can through observation & logic, test that reality. These tests prove that the bible is 100% BS in regards to its creation fairytales.

That means that science will continually refine our knowledge based on newer evidence while religion will ignore the evidence if it contradicts its beliefs. Only one of these processes leads us to the truth & it is not the religious one.

The Bible is true because of evadence that shows it to be true.Your "truth" is fact today and false tomorrow. Real truth is constant. Science has never proven any part of the Bible as wrong, but new evidance for the Bible comes out of the scientific community all the time.
