  • A lot of Americans wont be able to find Canada on a map

  • The saudis are gonna try to bomb canada next. 9-11 will be nothing!

  • Yes the wages are GREAT, BUT, the cost of living in Ft.McMurray is ridiculous. A regular 1200 sq.ft. bungalow will cost you $700,000.00, and if you just want to rent a bedroom, that'll cost you $750.00- to $1200.00 per month ! And it's not any easy work day, with 12 hour shifts at the site, but depending on which site you work on, it's an hour to 2 hour bus ride to site everyday. So for example, you catch your bus to work at 6 am, and you get home at 9 pm.,and you don't get paid for travel.

  • I wonder why 60 minutes doesn't do a special on mining in Canada and US, or the massive coal reserves in China.

  • Compare the harm to the enviorment from the Auto industry, smelting and manufactuering for half the profit. Maybe shut the Auto industry if your concerned about pollution.

  • Total Oil Sands Development Produces Under 30 Mt Of Carbon Emissions.

The Scherer Coal Fired Power Plant In Juliette Georgia Alone Produces More Then 25 Mt.

Go protest there, you unwashed hippies.

Better yet, The Tuen Mun China Coal Power Plant produces 35.8 Mt. I Dare you to protest there!

  • does it really matter where fucked no matter what aliens are coming

  • Im an Albertan and Im an oil worker.

The Americans have little interest in us and treat us like their retarded cousin.

I personally dont want the Americans here.

We have the resources and they can freeze in the dark for all I care.

Americans treat us like assholes and We should stand up and fight back by not traveling to USA and only staying in Canada.

Support your own country, dont go to USA, they have always hated us!

  • @noftchks1 Yes, but it stands as where are all the refineries? The united states, they need us, we need them. I know how you feel though. Shipping our resources at a normal price, just to have a refined product shipped back up at a unreasonably high price. Modern day imperialism.

  • Big bucks baby : D

  • plzzzzzz dnt stop oil trading , people need this canda need this , if this countiunes canada will be the richest nation be the year 2020 or 2018 :) plz think abtt the employers if u stop this, their whole life will be ruined :(

  • Unless you ride a bicycle, you're part of the problem.

Go invent a better solar car or something.

Until then, its supply and demand. And of course corrupt politicians, etc. result from these conditions, is that a surprise?

  • @TeamLibertyExpress not at all my friend......not at all.....

  • Lets try to grasp the concept of power. People want power, some more then others. Power comes with money. The biggest money generating industry in the wolrd= energy/Oil. By luck, there is a lot in Alberta. Who has the most power in canada = the governement and private oil industries. Who wants to be more powerfull= them. At the cost of others. Albertas entire social structure is corrupt by the money comming from oil. People have money = comfort = indiference= dont want tosee the big picture.

  • very interesting topic. lets up the intelligence and have some real discussion.

  • As an American I wouldn't mind Canada to take control of the oil trade from the Saudi's. We make fun of Canadians but I think most Americans will agree that the world would be a MUCH better place for everyone if Canada took the oil monopoly away from Saudi Arabia.

  • it's unfortunate that the highest priority of too many canadians is how much money can be made and any people (usually the poor or nonwhite) or wildlife harmed or killed in the process of obtaining it are merely externalized costs. they view anything which stands in the way of "stimulating the economy" or their pocket books as morally wrong. yes, jobs are important but if your living involves causing harm to so many others, it's time to find more ethical employment. oil and gas are poisoning us!

  • The land will be reclaimed and better than new. Alberta has had a thriving strip coal industry for many many years. Those mines have be reclaimed and are thriving natural habitats. All the nay sayers are naive and would be the last to give up their high carbon emission lives. Practice what you preach or get out of the way.

  • We Canadians that have to clean up their mess, and we have to pay world prices

what a good idea ,,,for the wealthy that run the project for the rest of us. THEY are ruining that entire area.OH-.WELL. One day we will start for real as the big oil and buisness buried all the technology 30 years ago when the GM created the volt in 1980.Then we can be free of middle east oil and only then will some of this b/s stop. STOP RUINING THE WORLD WITH OIL AND MAKE THE RICH PAY

  • Alberta Gov

  • Fort McMurray is not in the Arctic it is located in Boreal Forest..... You'd thing a journalistic program would know that?

  • people can complain if they dont like the oil, but then they go drive their car to work and turn on their lights at home, and turn on their plastic computers, where do you think the energy comes from, where do you think plastic comes from, if we got rid of all the cars in the world, we still would require a shit load of oil for plastic and other oil based products. Oil is the worlds blood, and we need it to survive (for now)

  • @robdmhaze or how about if you really want to mine for oil....find a way that does not fuck with the environment that i live in?

No matter how much they produce now. The oil will still be exhausted one day. The solution is to invest in alternative sources of energy while leaving the ecology alone. The sooner people get that through their thick skulls the better for humans.

  • @323646737 where are you from i live in alberta and like what they are doing here. tell me one alternative source of fuel that can replace oil right now? oh yeah there is not one.

  • @robdmhaze What will you do when oil runs out? allow me to guess- look for alternatives. So why not start now and phase out oil production slowly and steadily. This is the right way of doing things since we know for a FACT that we will run out of oil and we will eventually have to look for alternatives.

  • @323646737 well canada has about 150 years of proven reserves so i think were good..

  • Does this pollute any worse than the BP sipll in the gulf? At leas this is stable.

  • i'm sorry to offend anyone, i don't intend to, but i think this guy kinda put canada in jepordy telling "everyone" that canada can solve the us energy crisis, kinda labels the country as a target? i don't mean to be rude, just an opinion. thanks

  • shut the fuck up all of your cocksucking tree huggers! that's all you guys do is bitch and moan and complain about everything. and if you think batteries for cars are the answer. Think again. it causes more environmental damage to make a battery than to have it run on fuel. secondly if you get in an accident and that acid gets all over the place...yep that's just perfect too! and do you know how they make batteries? no you wouldn't would you, because your a stupid liberal hippy fuck.

  • pure propaganda. listen to his nice cosy comparisons: "like something out of willy wonkas chocolate factory". "is the oil as "GOOD" as... " which leads to the positive answer: oh yes, even better than...

  • Crap like this is why I don't watch TV. "An arctic wasteland?" It was productive forest with many wetlands before the industrialists turned it into a wasteland, and it's subarctic, not arctic. Sheesh.

  • Who's planet is it anyway???

They call it a resource! It makes short term bucks and will cost infinite sums in the long run, but not for them.

It's Ok for the oil men and some politicians who stake their popularity on economic progress - at any cost!

I feel sorry for anyone who has to work these mines.

WHY aren't we yet mining the wind or sun for our energy???

  • @Ghat801 Short term? Didn't you hear the reporter? TRILLIONS. We can access around 100 million max, what about the other 2,900,000,000 Barrels? And i have to reside to the simple argument, how did you get to work/school/ or anywhere today? What is your computer made of? How is your home heated. Thanks for reading.

  • @Ghat801 Please check out my page, i offer tangible sustainable solutions that will put these planet raping pigs out of business(pardon my crude language) but i cannot help but to be pissed

    Namaste

    Nicholas Ellis

PS this goes for ANYONE who wants REAL change in alternative energy resources, it starts with the physicist at Ivy league schools blindly following conventional "physical laws" like e=mc^2 and celestial mechanics ie "nuclear fusion", its not the politicians fault but the Scientist

  • there are gonna be some major wars over this

  • 3 barrels of water for 1 of oil, 1 barrel of oil wasted for every 5, enough nat. gas wasted each day to heat 6 million Canadian homes... habitats decimated... no mention of any of that??? interesting. and it wasn't originally 'a barren wasteland' but a natural habitat for caribou, birds, and the world's 3rd largest water basin... now with dead birds being scooped from the surface....

  • @explodingtreerecords dead birds being scooped up from the surface??? wow i'd LOVE to know where u get your information. I live in alberta and every well site you see has rabbits hopping around, foxs and fox dens, coyotes. still a ton of trees...nope never seen a dead bird tho...you must be from the east cuz your fucking retarded.

  • @mansfieldcanada "To extract oil from this mess, it needs to be heated and washed. Three barrels of water are used to process one barrel of oil(9). The contaminated water is held in vast tailing ponds, some of which are so toxic that the tar companies employ people to scoop dead birds off the surface(10). Most are unlined. They leak organic poisons,

  • @mansfieldcanada arsenic and mercury into the rivers." From Georgo Monbiot's article entitled "The Urgent Threat To World Peace Is Canada" Please lookup the entire article if you have time, if you haven't heard of George Monbiot, look him up as well. Also, the oil from tar sands doesn't come from wells, so perhaps you've confused the tar sands with something else. Thanks for your comment.

  • @explodingtreerecords BRAVO!!! I like your intelligence....more power to you:)

  • @explodingtreerecords Your fucking retarded. The oil sands are produced from wells. Do a little research you fucking twat, I'd start with SAGD. The VAST MAJORITY of oil sands are too deep to produce with open pit mining. So next time you post do a little research, you just sound like you are a retarded inbred hippie Cock sucker

  • @mansfieldcanada I'm from the east, but I agree with you. We need the oil and I don't believe all the shit greenpeace and others are spouting. It might not be perfect but what is.

  • @mansfieldcanada Exloding got the resource of the dead birds from the news so you can keep your nasty attitude to yourself and try studying a little before making asenine comments like that oh and keep the f*&^*g language out of your comments as well, because there may be children watching...:(

  • Canada is a threat to world peace? what about Iran and North Korea? just goes to show how credible this guy is. and i know it doesn't come from a well, it was just an example. and I'd love to see proof of this "we hire out people to clean up dead animals" that is BS as the ponds today are 100% controlled, and are supposed to be virtually inacessible to animals.

  • @mansfieldcanada If you look up the article, you can find the documented sources. I think he has chosen that title to illustrate how important this issue is, which is why I suggested you read the entire article if you're interested in finding out about the other side to the argument and look him up for his credibility. I tried to link it in my last post, but youtube won't allow urls. You can also google 'tar sands dead birds' to find out more. There is a trial going on as we speak...

  • @explodingtreerecords well you better be agaist wind power then, they kill millions of birds each day around the world. Retarded hippie

  • A few facts that some don't want you to know.

Oil sands are responsible for 5% of the total green house gases in Canada and around 1tenth of 1percent of the total global emmis.

Sounds perty small, So we should shut down everything? what about our economy? what about all the un-employed? Yes I know (green jobs) haha but there are no green jobs. And we get to buy oil from the saudis, it's okay for them to put there people to work, but not okay for Canadians to have a good job.

    Insane

  • @mazdarx7gx You are obviously not at all concerned about all the environmental destruction that takes place because of the greedy need for oil.

You can try to find more green ways of producing vehicles....SHAME ON YOU!!!!

  • @gracielady12345 If you hate oil so much go to Russia and protest or how about China or even better Iran. NO just easier to slame us here and throw our people out of work less chances of being thrown in jail and tortured.

If you hate oil stop using oil, no driving, no heat and anything else that has oil. All plastic products. How did you get to work?? ever fly anywhere? how about a train? can't ride a bike, O take your shoes off. how about your hair brush.

Shame on ME - Shame on You

  • @mazdarx7gx There are alternatives some of which were mentioned above like perhaps wind power, the sun solar energy etc. I don't mean that we have to stop everything immediately, but the powers that be (govt) are putting PLENTY of money into their own coffers (pockets) and laughing all the way to the bank at OUR expense..

  • @gracielady12345 You a fucking twat the city of Toronto uses 3 TRILLION bbls of fresh water each year (way more than the oil sands) and produces way more pollutants than the oil sands, And has destroyed more land. Do you suggest we destroy Toronto? Fuck you got my vote

  • @mazdarx7gx Recent studies show it is only 1 percent of canadas CO2 emissions. Only .1 % of the WORLDS emissions. How much is china's? Around 24% of the WORLDS emissions. And hell, if we don't mine it. U.s WILL INVADE, and they will mine it. It is to expensive to purchase ALL of the oil from saudi. They say canada is dirty oil right? How about Saudi arabia, in-directly funding terrorism. How dirty is that? Nice to see another pro oil spokesman on youtube.

  • but ya that would suck if the states invaded us for it. i wonder what their excuse would be.....

  • this is bad.

it takes 4 times the amount of water to make the same amount of oil.

it takes 800 million cubic feet of natural gas A DAY to extract the oil.

water gets contaminated and pollutes all of the wild life and even the rivers around. then people eat the animals and get sick....

we are supposed to be taking part in the KYOTO protocol, and we do this?

    we should be ashamed

  • @trihood agree...

  • To you, Albertans. The amount of natural gaz that is needed to extract petrol from the tar sands could heat 6 million homes. What a waste. But don't stop, or Americans will invade you!

  • .@grosbonnet Yes and Victoria Toronto Montreal and Halifax dump 200 BILLION liters of RAW SEWAGE each year. Ye Alberta is the villain?

  • This whole industry is outright madness.

  • well i sure hope you live in a cave you fucking hippie

  • 3/10.

  • I was born in the 1960's in McMurray, and I've worked many years in the oilsands. The land in that region is largely useless- it can't be farmed, nor it is good for raising cattle. It is good for one thing- strip mining a valuable resource (bitumen) that Albertans discovered how to extract and refine. However, the problem will come one day of cleaning up the toxic tailings ponds, and reclaiming the land. Industry should be forced to do it, w/o taxpayers being forced to pick up the bill.

  • the Ponds at Suncor are being eliminated within the next couple years. They already got rid one of the large ones.

  • We need forests to clean the air

  • NOW thats a long term view!

  • That is some pretty flawed logic sir:

you state that the Earth has "been around for billions of years" but that "mankind... is but a sliver in time."

Surely this would imply a need for mankind to be conservative in how it treats the environment?

Besides, its not 'removing the oil from the land' that is particularly dangerous; its the removal of water (unlike oil a non-replaceable resource) from watersheds, and the introduction of toxic by-products into the Earth that is a source of risk.

  • So removing water like when you have a shower and flush the shitter? I can guarantee that if you took all the hippies in the world and compared the amount of water they WASTE it would dwarf the oil sands tenfold. So stop showering and start shitting in a bag you fucking retard

  • no need to throw insults around.

I suggest that you make efforts to understand the difference between water removal and water use. Water is removed from the water cycle when it is too toxic to be returned right away. And you have to consider the variability of natural water flow, not just the total removed.

I'm sorry but don't see what hippies have to do with anything, the water belongs to the Crown and is Albertans' to manage.

  • @blambo35 No need for your foul, ignorance on these postings. If you cannot discuss in a humane manner then you shouldn't be here...

  • I live in alberta, and though the recession has affected us, this will be the economic hotspot for the next 10 years IMO. If it wern't for our horrible trade contracts with teh US most people that live around here would be millionaires. People are investing hard core in our economy, one of the best places in North America to buy real estate!

  • He said it trades at a premium because it is a HQ oil?

    Good one.

  • you post too many comments, congratulations on near total domination, too bad you still fail at life

post more and every comment on the front page may be yours, and then maybe people might start to believe your bullshit

  • I can't wait to drive up there just to kick your teeth in - you phony 666 piece of shit.

with any luck mother nature will throw something at you aholes just to make your stay...permanent., albeit breif. yeehaw!

  • My favourite quote from this is 'the result looks like something out of Willy Wonka's' chocolate factory.

It is pure propaganda for people clinging onto an economic system which is clearly not working.

I think it's quite an easy thing to live without new things. The disposable nature of many commodities is what's at fault. Obviously I have a computer but it's one I've had for many years and one I've maintained.

This tar sands fiasco is just another symptom that oil is peaking

  • alienincognito why you insult people so much? Your are so acid, your arguments are not good reasons for be so sure to have the right to destroy the world. I visited the US some years ago and I was impressed by the consumerism. Lot of people are fat and none use bicycle. People should start a different way of life and renounce to lot of comodities. If not our earth will survive short...

  • just like a fart in the wind its all over

  • The more I learn about the Oil Sands Project the more I feel ashamed that this environmental disaster is unfolding in my own country, Canada. I want to be proud of this country. I want to be part of a nation that finds a way to include things like clean air and fresh water in the capitalist profit models that currently bring projects like this to life. What is our natural environment worth?

  • Brian Jean does not speak for ALberta, last I heard he got a BJ from his secretary. His an idiot

  • think about it kids ,what kind of trees grow in oilsands? by taking out the oil out of the area , they are actually cleaning it up aren't they ,making that sand useful , so in essence they are producing oil and cleaning up the environment. Eastern Canada has polluted more of the environment . Last time i looked trees were a renewable resource so cutting them down is not as catastrophic as some make it out to be.Anybody that is opposed to cleaning up the environment must be from ontario.

  • Plenty of oil here, but the natural gas and FRESH WATER are running out to extract the oil and thats only half of the problem here

Chopping down a continent worth of trees to get to the oil is disgraceful and wrong so very very wrong

  • Comment removed

  • Ask countries like Argentina, Colombia, Syria, Iran, Nigeria, Germany, Libya, U.S., Indonesia, India, Mexico and Venezuela about how much of an "asset" oil reserves have been to them. Those are countries that have experienced peak oil. The ones who haven't (yet) are Canada, China, Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. 3 out of those 4 are plagued by war and civil rights complaints. I'm glad to be a Canadian in this situation but I also think our government needs to realize what the stakes are here.

  • KevinPuumala hit the nail on the head there. The Oilsands are a fucking liability. If we had politicians and leaders who had a bit of balls and some foresight, it would be a huge asset. We've basically given control to the U.S. and other investing counties to do as they please. Alberta is bending over backwards to cater to these pricks. Did anyone know that the U.S. army would be in charge of the oilsands in the event of "civil unrest". Sounds like the partiot act north of the border to me.

  • JESUS CHRIST! most americans think that canada is a cold barren "arctic wasteland" and that we have "prehistoric beast" trucks rolling around. GET EDUCATED

  • The reserves are so vast and we are using more energy to extract it than it is worth. We are poisoning more land than it is worth. We are making toxic more water than it is worth.

  • I can't believe I share the planet with the likes of people who made this garbage that was put on International Television. Talking about the tar sands like they're some big resource worth having? Like it's good for the planet? Like it's good for Canada and for the mindless Americans who use oil at alarming rates (not to mention other countries who ignore the negative effects of oil). I am in complete shock.. I figured mankind might learn something but apparently not.. still stupid, mindless.

  • That guy isn't even a fucking canadian...He's just some GOOF from ENGLAND.

  • I thought most Canadians (or most North Americans for that matter) were goofs from somewhere in Europe. This guy just happens to have arrived slightly more recently.

Anyway the oil sands have gone the way of the stock markets: dead as a dodo. This report describes the fantasy world we were living in till six months ago. No more 22 year-olds getting 150k jobs in Fort McMurray today...

  • canada and canadians are a joke. end of story. ps: watch the south park episode on your country faggot.

  • Its ignorant pricks like you is the reason people think your all uneducated rude pricks. There are alot of nice great americans but then theres idiots like you who run their mouths and make us hate you all. forshame. I hope Obama gives you an attitude adjustment. Whats bad with Canada? Less crime and guns than the U.S? and more Oil? I dunno dude it seems pretty great here.

  • i'm ignorant..funny. it's our fucking idiot citizens like MWSBD that make me comment on you fucks. so you judge a country and call me ignorant because we have fucked up people with guns and crime in the US. get a fucking clue bud and have fun continuing to live in the woods and in the country that has no significance on this earth. stupid canadian.

  • huhuh... they have forests in Canada, and natural resources.... huhuh... Those stooopid people.

  • wow bud, south park is a cartoon your not supposed to take it seriously, maybe thats why americans r fuckin D bags EH?

  • 100 billion dollars to be invested in ur toxic oil sands, why not take that money and invest in green energy solutions...theres a no brainer.

  • everyone hates americans

  • Unlike you, I have traveled extensively and I can tell you this is a FALSE statement perpetuated by ignorant bigots who try to justify their simple-minded intolerance and so is the statement that the world loves Canada. Wait until the world KNOWS Canada and then we can judge how the world views it but until then.....

  • There's a lot of anti-American rhetoric on here. Seems most Canadians(backstabbers) really hate us Americans. You know what, oil is cheap as shit these day anyways, fuck them and fuck their oil sands. We should fuck with their economy just for the fuck of it, close down the border and block all trade with them. Let them try selling all their crap overseas, see how far that gets them!

  • Please don't buy it, you'll just rack up a debt you can't pay off and then go bankrupt in 5 years. Why rush to get it pumped out anyway? Oil isn't gonna go bad, I'm cool with them just hangin onto it while the rest of the world depletes its reserves... then BAM, Canada's a superpower b/c we're the only ones with oil.

  • I don't think that most Canadians hate Americans, and trade between our boarders benefits us all.

  • Your remark is a hallmark of ignorance. The United States depends on Canada far more than Canada depends on the United States. The US currently has a HUGE trade deficit with Canada.

  • US has a huge trade deficit with pretty much everybody

  • we dont hate americans (or at least i dont think so), we hate the american dream. capitalism/ consumerism isnt sustainable. All things said though, Bush didnt really help the american world persona much :P

And closing the boarders would be commercail suicide for both sides, you guys actaully do need our oil, although Obama will hopefully change that

  • Fuck the oil sands. These old timers don't give a shit about the profound enviornmental impacts this is having, and will have long term. Sustainable energy is the only way to go, obviously.

  • Money is good here but the pollution created by the oil companies is just insane.

  • Be sure to check out some of the high paying oil industry jobs available at Oilcareer com

  • I live right next door and I would'nt want to work in that shit hole......

  • The people that bash oil on here make me laugh. What do you think makes your keyboard, monitor, circuit boards? What propels you to work everyday so you can make a living? How many loved ones rely on oil and it's products for a living? Keep bashing away, Alberta Owns You.

  • more like " I own Alberta " .

  • No it is not an arctic wasteland. I don't know where americans get this idea that there is a huge temperature difference over the 49th parallel. It's funny to joke about it being cold up here, but to really think that Canada is an arctic wasteland is pathetic. Stupid 60 minutes.

  • Yes I know.

Here is what it would be like if there was that sudden change at the border.

Glaciers and ice caps form when it is too cold to melt all the snow and it builds up over time.

    - The Mississippi would cover entire states from all the melt water at the border and send tsunamis at places like Cleavland,OH form the ice shelf to the north!.

-The 120F contrast would trigger storms capable of devastating cites like Chicago and New York.

Doesn't sound like very true does it.

  • Plan on spending $2000 on safety courses, $2000 on gear, and well over $2000 to rent your buddies couch per month. Those industrial camps are mostly for the prime contractors employees. Joe blow who suddenly turns up and finds a job in the service industry is probably out of luck. They are looking for "SKILLED" employees. You might make $20 an hour working at the 7-11 but the cost of living will make you no better off. $120,000 is only for those with a trade already. Glad I don't work there.

  • But Kudos to those who do and want to make something of their lives and the area. It takes guts and pride. Alberta is the greatest place to live with the most opportunity in Canada.

  • What are you talking about?? Bro, We have monthly living allowance from $1000 to $3000. We have Travel allowance from $1000 to $2000. We have moving allowance $1000. WE have Clothing Allowance every six months. We singing bonus from $20000 to $110000. All this not including our paycheque. I'm not bragging about it just the facts. Peace!

  • Read what I said again, it was about the stupid comments of local politicians attracting those WITHOUT skills or a trade. Sure the perks are great and no doubt you are in a better position to elaborate on them. That living allowance? Only the smartest will convert that into benificial income, they are giving it to you because you need it to afford to live there. Glad you are happy with the money...Ft Mac isn't the only place those dollars are made and I don't have to live there.

  • Skilled? There are complete dullards in ALberta who make more then 150,000 a year. I did a week course myself and made 100,000 in 7 months. I wouldn't consider myself a skilled trades person. I have half an Arts degree and a one week 'trade' course

  • Like many other commenters before me I find the stereo-typing of the north, the oilpatch, Ft McMurray and the liestyle dissapointing. It's not Tundra and you can be a drunk and divorced in any industry you choose. What most disturbs me is the comment by the MP for the area that they need 100,000 more workers. I am from a town who's mayor said a similar thing, and all it brought were deadbeats, lowlifes, the useless, the un-informed and the un-skilled, created a new homeless population overnight.

  • We Canadians have sold our souls to the corporate devil to create hell on earth here in once beautiful Alberta.

  • i've yet to see "hell on earth" and alberta is still beautiful...not quite sure what your talking about....maybe get of your ass and mow your lawn!!

  • Lets wait 50 years and then we can go have a look. When there will be 1000 square miles of lakes filled with oily water, I wonder if Exon will chip in to clean it up.

The majority of the oil from Alberta ends up in the US. A bunch of people are making alot of money in Canada now... great. What will these people tell their grand children in 50 years when the oil is all gone and all that is left is a waist land?

  • they'll say,"you see this beautiful forest....this used to be oilsands production that was reclaimed to look like this park like setting....thanks oil companies....know what you're talking about and learn to spell!! WAISTland?? c'mon now!!(wasteland)

  • Idiot...did you ever think that there are people on the internet that are not english. When you learn my language, let me know.

Amazing the ignorance and arrogance of so many english people on the internet.

If you think there's no long term affect on the environment, you're just as ignorant on that subject.

  • and EXON?? again c'mon!!(Exxon)

  • you know someone lost an argument when hes picking on grammar

  • Dude, maybe you don't grasp the concept. The land is "SATURATED" with oil right now - naturally. Maybe you can ponder that while you're saving seals or whales and starving the poorest by turning viable food crops into biofuel.

  • Hmm, I don't recall bashing Canadians, but I do recall you bashing Americans. What's wrong alienincognito, you can dish it out but when it flies your way you say you're targeted because, "...I'm CANADIAN...., ". Poor little nationalistic racist alienincognito hiding behind his mommy's flag.

  • wow...."poor little nationalistic racist hiding behind mommys flag". i don't know what to say....you have pity for me? oh my!!

  • alienincogito, you've already exposed yourself as a bigot. So, are you racists because you're insecure about your own intellect? Do you have such a low opinion of yourself, that you need to tear people down because of the color of their skin, or their ancestry? Why are you so insecure?

  • ummmmm....i'm pretty sure you're going to tell me!! low opinion of myself.....hmmmm...you must be right. alas i am an insecure child who is a racist, a bigot and suffering from "low opinion of myselfitis"...that and I'm CANADIAN....darn.

  • As far as drilling offshore, you do of course realize that we literally got hundreds of offshore platforms off the coast of Louisiana and Texas right? We're just going to expand that to any state that's game. $4 gasoline transformed a lot of environmentalist into a more pragmatic mindset.

  • and as for being a national racist...if you say so...and i know america needs a change...but is it really ready for obama? sorry to sound racist but if they shoot white presidents.......remember slavery fella? .....ya i thought so!! do you really think people change.......don't get mr wrong though...i liked pres. palmer in 24....i'm sure obama is a good guy as well...but....i smell trouble....hopefully i'm wrong(most likely).

  • alienincognito, you're a nationalistic racists aren't you? Your statement, "..you voting for obama??...wow...i smell trouble there...sadly....with a name like that!!...sorry but it's true....good luck with that america.", based solely on Barrack Obama's name shows your prejudice. I bet your fellows will distance themselves from a bigot like you, huh? So, we finally get to the root of why alienincognito dislikes America.

  • Canada supplies more oil to the US than any other country....20%...

And we can continue production like this for almost 200 years.

  • Good deal JohnnyRock2000, good deal!!

  • I say what's good for Canada is good for the USA and vise versa. I think it's great Canada is going to really make out on the Oil Sands. Canada can sell the stuff for whatever price and to whomever they choose. As far as the Chuck Norris comment, I've never heard it. Regardless, I think it's a good thing that we are going to start pumping a lot more oil here. Why not?

  • the chuck norris thing was on "The Daily Show"...and yes i know they "parody" lots of things....but this wasn't. and you voted for bush?? wow...and you question MY intelligence!!!....lol...you voting for obama??...wow...i smell trouble there...sadly....with a name like that!!...sorry but it's true....good luck with that america. and to think they will be drilling on/near national parks and beautiful coastlines...something your government didn't want to do. more work for me.

  • LOL, I like the American government, hell, I helped elect them. And the current American government was ELECTED in our democratic process, so a lot of other Americans like it too. Sure, there's loons everywhere that bitch about everything under the sun, but it's voters and not those that bitch who get their way. Canada and the USA are in the same bed due to our geography, same with the USA and Mexico. Left wing loonies always point their fingers at others when they themselves are to blame.

  • how would an out of province worker go abouts to applying @ working on the oil sands?

  • decide what you want to do and go from there. the internet can provide you with all other info.

  • alienincognito, I'm just responding to your attacks. What, did you think this forum is your own little soapbox? If you're going to spew nationalist paranoid crap, then I'll be here to vet it. Actually, I enjoy this give and take, I find it entertaining. I'd like to hear more of your anti-USA rants and your reasoning for believing them. Oh, no need to bring up your unverifiable level of wealth, I'm sure most people on here all have the means.

  • it's everyones soapbox. and the chuck norris comment is true....i call it "the roundhouses for oil" campaign. chuck says "drill more wells"...and dammit...the usa is must drill more wells...chuck said so!! it was kinda stupid actually.....hence "what a joke". and who does like the americans (government)???....really...who?...so paranoid.....no...

  • alienincognito, your education level is moronic if you find it impossible to to parse an analogy through a contemporary example. Your xenophobia has more in common with fascist regimes than most of your contemporaries. Perhaps you should think about emigration to say, China. At least there you should feel at home with your fellow USA bashing totalitarian comrades. I await your quacking reply.

  • wow...big words.

  • what did you pay for your education....i get paid for mine.

  • and you keep commenting on my education level and that i must be immature, insecure and a child?? as though you NEED to belittle somebody just to satisfy your OBVIOUSLY tattered ego...go back to spankin it on your pam anderson "baywatch" poster....and when you're ready to join the "real world"...the doors always open.

  • So if you want to be spoken to like an adult, then speak like one. A man is in control of his emotions and uses logic. A child throws a tantrum when he doesn't get his way. If the shoe fits, wear it. I SUPPORT the extraction of the oil sands, I think growth is a good thing. I'm happy people are getting rich up there. But lets not paint everyone with the same brush here. If that logic applies then we could call all Canadians decapitating, cannibalistic killers. And that's ridiculous.

  • "decapitating, cannibalistic killers"??? what? there's something wrong with you..guy!!
