  • Jim said he saw Texas in Cardiff the previous week and did well, they did ok but got canned to feck lol

  • Geat memories! We came up from Lancashire, 4 of us still at school!

The Bhundu Boys should have appeared but had problems with their flight from Zimbabwe. Before Simple Minds came on there was a message from Amnesty International on the big screens followed by 'Pride' by U2 which was blasted out over the PA....At this point, had there been a roof on the stadium it would have been blown into orbit!

I was at the front but couldn't spot myself from these clips. Happy days!

  • @shellovski Thanks for sharing that story!

  • We were there !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o)

  • Great find tony,cheers mate.

  • @tattysnr Thank Neil!

  • My first Minds gig too. What an awesome day that was. Got there about 10am to queue, and the atmosphere was amazing.

  • @DJayFootball Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed the concert!

  • Was there Tony, you have to see them again&again&again....46times,them some more..Let there be love on this tour was Sensational..well done Tony...

  • @feenoSM I went to to the Roundhay Park concert in Leeds, Mike. That was my first ever concert.

  • I think Kerr got the message and stayed clear of all that earnest guff by the time `Real Life' album came out.

  • Love Simple Minds but the music suffered a bit with all the self rightous, political naiveity. Leave that sort of crap to Bono.

  • @faddy24 Agreed! Glad the Minds stopped all that a few years later.

  • @faddy24 As Adam Clayton said in a certain U2 movie, 'some say music and politics shouldn't mix - I think thats kinda bullshit' and I totally agree with him. Some of the best songs / best music are of the protest variety and that document the times we live in - Street Fighting Years was a class example of that, heavily datestamped with a big fat 1989 all over it, and probably SM's finest hour imho. JK and CB are to be commended for being songwriters and musicians of integrity and dignity.

  • @alternatereality85 - thou doth protest too much. I could not give a flying fuck what Adam Clayton supposidly said many years ago. I stand by my opinion as no doubt you stand by yours. End of.

  • @faddy24 The word is 'supposedly', not 'supposidly'. And I really couldn't give a flying fuck what someone like you has to say. Now its end of, I've decided.

  • Wow! My first ever Simple Minds gig. This brings back many great memories. Thanks for posting this.

  • @brianf72 No problem Brian! Glad the video brought back memories!

  • Those fans got it spot on, once you've seen SM you have to see them again.....and again.
