I used to think the Hebrew language was strange and difficult. I am learning Hebrew at a free site, Hebrew4Christians (just google it) it has sound. You can start as simple as the alphabet, Go through the Psalms, the names of God and much more. It has a glossary also. I like the daily site blog that tells of the upcoming Shabbat and Jewish Holidays. It's great.

What does having a Jewish grandmother to do with being Jewish? Was your mother Jewish?
Even if she was, this is immaterial. If you have adopted Christianity (belief in Jesus as the Messiah etc) you have excluded yourself from Judaism. Of course you may believe whatever you like, whatever makes you happy, but it remains a personal belief. It is NOT Judaism.
You are mixing up Judaism with Xtianity. The two are mutually exclusive, although Xtianity does have Jewish roots. Xtian Zionism is a very important factor in the world today.

It was gentiles that started a new religion call Christianity. Jesus was Jewish.

He did show mercy to some Gentiles who approached Him..but only after they acknowledged that He was the Messiah of the Jews first. Gentiles are not supposed to have their own religion... in the book of Acts they were in the synagogues learning.

As tings stand at the moment I am afraid that by adopting Christianity, one key feature of which is belief in Jesus as the Messiah (other: Virgin Birth, Trnity etc) you cannot call yourself a Jew.
However, if you observe the 7 Noachide Laws you will achieve salvation. Much easier than being Jewish.

Beautiful song, but for Jews we have a direct connection with G-d: our very souls connect us to Him. Everything we do, in fulfilling the mitzvot He gave us for all time brings us closer in our relationship with Him. We live with Him, talk with Him, are always in His presence. Sin may take us further away from G-d but can never remove G-d from us. Teshuva - repentance - simply means return. While Jews do not proselytize to non-Jews, for a Jew to embrace jc actually takes him AWAY from G-d.

I used to think the Hebrew language was strange and difficult. I am learning Hebrew at a free site, Hebrew4Christians (just google it) it has sound. You can start as simple as the alphabet, Go through the Psalms, the names of God and much more. It has a glossary also. I like the daily site blog that tells of the upcoming Shabbat and Jewish Holidays. It's great.

What does having a Jewish grandmother to do with being Jewish? Was your mother Jewish?
Even if she was, this is immaterial. If you have adopted Christianity (belief in Jesus as the Messiah etc) you have excluded yourself from Judaism. Of course you may believe whatever you like, whatever makes you happy, but it remains a personal belief. It is NOT Judaism.

The saying is quoted in the Bible in regard to the end times. Israel will not be saved until they cry this out to the messiah they have forsaken, "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn." Not sure of what relevance this quote from Zacharias is with regards to Jesus (OT, as you say, so why introduce it?).
The thrusting or piercing refers to swords, and if you read the other verses, even in Ch 12, you will see the "thrust through" or "pierced" are the Israelites. So it comes under the 'quoted out of context' category'.

It is of paramount significance. It is an OT reference spoken by God. He is forespeaking that not only will He himself be pierced by Israel, but that they shall not be saved when the end comes upon them until they look on "Me, on him whom they have pierced." they shall cry out and mourn. Me is a singular term and this is God speaking saying 'me'. It very clearly refers to the Messiah. The singular 'me' spoken by God does not refer to a group.

2) The 1st & maybe 2nd Gospels were slanted towards Jews but later Christian New Testament not, John in particular, is certainly not aimed at Jews, though it has been a holy task of the Catholic church till the C20th to attempt to convert Jews), who were uninterested as a whole.
However, by Helen & Constantine converting to Christianity the whole Roman empire eventually became Christian (and the rest is history...).

earthalien77 - the answer is simple. The OT speaks of a messiah that Jewish believers understand to be Jesus (Yeshua), who will come to the Jews first, then go out to the gentiles. Jesus is the Jewish messiah who then went out to the entire world. Jewish believers are still Jewish, not Christian. They simply know their messiah is Jesus. It was gentiles that started a new religion call Christianity. Jesus was Jewish.

@xdesertwolfx - Yeshua did not minister to the gentile nations. He stated plainly His mission was "to the lost sheep of the house of Israel". He did show mercy to some Gentiles who approached Him..but only after they acknowledged that He was the Messiah of the Jews first. When he was resurrected he instructed his apostles to go and make disciples of all nations. Gentiles are not supposed to have their own religion... in the book of Acts they were in the synagogues learning.

We Messianic jews are jews who accept the truth...that is, Yeshua is Messiah...Still jewish but follow both old and new testaments...a true relationship with Yeshua as it is meant to per the scriptures.

Yeshua was sent from G_d as the messiah prophesized by Isaiah....If you don't belive it, that is up to you. As tings stand at the moment I am afraid that by adopting Christianity, one key feature of which is belief in Jesus as the Messiah (other: Virgin Birth, Trnity etc) you cannot call yourself a Jew.
However, if you observe the 7 Noachide Laws you will achieve salvation. Much easier than being Jewish.

@dvdtrr - actually neither Jews or Gentiles who believed in Yeshua as the Messiah were called "Christians"... that didn't happen until OUTSIDERS started calling them that in Antioch (see the book of Acts)... it became a way to cause division among the followers of the faith.
