Can you help me? My Green Cheek Conure is comfortable with my hands and he lets me scratch his neck and everything. But when I press my finger or a perch up against his abdomen he just kinda leans away. Not once has he stepped up :(

Good lesson! The lovebirds ARE a bit "noisy," especially those "piercing" sounds... But I bet Emma will be much louder!

Our birds have never been that loud. Our home tends to be peaceful and quiet, so our birds respond also.

I have tried everything I can think of to get mine to trust me; its been five years already.

Find a motivation such as food. Place your bird on a stand and get them used to eating out of your hand. Then make your bird reach a little more for it while you place your hand in front of him. Soon, with enough trust, your bird will have to lean so much for the food that he steps on your hand. That is just one way. Emma comes to me, because she wants to come to me. She just needed to be taught how to step-up with confidence and strength.

When they're IN the cage, they love eating out of my hand.

When they're OUT and I try to give them treats, they get distracted and go for my hand instead. Yum. Blood.
