My turnips Grew Long and Root more so that of a carrot, it wasn't really Bulbous at all... i planted them early. and waited till recently to pull a few Big plants up. is it still too soon? there are some smaller plants still out there but i doubt they will mature before the frost. Any tips? Anything would be much appreciated. I am not really sure what type they are either ... I got the seeds from walmart and they have a purple crown. If that helps identify them.
Celtic can be pronounced both ways. I am not Irish, I am Scottish. My clan is from around Glasgow, and the word is pronounced "seltic", as in the greatest football team on Earth!
Depending on your part of the world, you might have to wait to plant your turnips that late. In the Ozarks, they do fine (bulb plant in the ground. As far as that Yank comment goes, why don't you come tell that to the Ozark members of the St. Andrew's Society! No offense taken!
We Irish love our turnips. We never plant them outside until the month of May. I don't know why the Yank on here plants them in the spring and he should say celtic pronounced keltic not seltic. So Yankee there you go thats two mistakes you made even though I like your Irish theme. No offence intended.
