For the people who seem to think it's his fault that Megatron broke try looking up other reviews of this toy. Every single transformers reviewer has had the same problem with Megatron snapping in half. Yes the toy does have a faulty waist bit holding him together. I've heard that Takara has had so many complaints about this that they've actually sent out replacements for the part meant to hold him together. I don't know why they only replaced the part and not the figure but that's what I heard.
Aw, I love it! Ones ability to successfully master this figure does not correlate in any way to ones advanced maturity! Of all the MPs this is easily the most disappointing but they had the nearly insurmountable task of making a robot out of a gun and still come close to matching the animation model. I think with that in mind they succeeded, but still, it ranks the lowest IMO. We're all grown men having pissing contests about toy robots, give him a break! Many mighty nerd-cocks here today!
i think this toy...or whatever it is should just either stay in robot mode or gun mode whichever one would choose and maybe be transformed once in a while. but i dont have it and dont really want it. the only two masterpieces i want are optimus and starscream. also, this thing is not easy to replace because right now it is really too much money

What I love the mp megatron , transformed him a few times never had a problem. It's true you have to be careful with him but he looks amazing plus with his upgrade parts . By the way did takara send you a replacement , letter , refund , anything . If u spend that much on a toy they should make an effort .

I do believe that Masterpiece is marketed as "Intended For Mature Collectors Only." I've transformed mine about 10 times, had it for a year and he's still in perfect shape. I highly recommend him

Just saw this Vid. This isn't takara's fault, its clear that this guy made a mistake transforming him. I transformed mine about 2 or 3 times already and had no problems with it. It was a pain to transform the first time though.

lol broken ???? i think you cant tranform iam do it in 45 min first time following the instructions and no broken pieces for me no i can transform him inn 10 min and stands very well think u used to much force on it i dunno
on mine the head re-fits no prob, just clips back on, the pin did fall out...so i just simply pushed it back in, unless you physically cracked the sockets or something.
happened twice during my first transform but it was all gun and solid, transforms back and forth no prob because im just careful when pulling the grip away from the barrel parts
maybe a nut on the end or something would of helped i agree but this toy isnt for the standard age group their aimed at so i didnt treat it as such.
When I got my Masterpiece Megatron, it took me 20 to 30 mins to Transform him and now it take me 10 mins to Transform him. I love my Masterpiece Megs. I've had him for a month or two and hes still in wonderful condition. Sorry for your loss dude. :(
I used to have him. I sold it. If I would of seen this review a year ago I would of donated megatron to you. Its funny I bought transmetal megatron and it broke the first time i transformed him. mp megatron isn't all bad. you just need to give your self a few hours because thats how long it takes. I was dropping the f bomb al lot during the transformation.

Anyway, great review as always. The random comedy is entertaining and the history lessons are informative. A suggestion I have though would be to split your reviews into where you talk about just the FIGURE and another half where you talk about the character's history and backstory. Again that's not to say I don't appreciate your perspective on the story.

be more patiant with him he's easy really and try pulling his chest all the way up it will go a long way in helping you place his head and sholders in even though his soulders are a pain at first but youll get the hang of it ive got it down to a fine art it only takes 5 or so minuets to transform
you are right mate, I was impressed by the easy level of transformation! although his gun mode is ridiculously big... in robot mode he is a great display toy
push the chest down and pool a litle harder this time then it will get on place i do not brake my megatron and i like transforming i do him olmost evry day so you get the head into place wen you do dat.
You gotta get the upgrades. It makes a world of a difference! The metal legs make him way more stable and poseable in robot mode, and as a gun he's got the weight you want. The add on stuff makes it feel like a bad-ass rifle. I just got mine with upgrades for X-mas and I LOVE THIS FIGURE!!!

Mine has never been, and never will be, transformed. It might as well be a 12" revoltech figure. I love him, don't get me wrong, but I feel the need to take as much care as if I were holding a baby. Which is ridiculous for a TOY. Hope you are well.
I dont think theyre ment to be toys cause theyre way to fragile for that, just to be displayed on the shelves is what i think theyre made for, but i could be wrong

I know the feeling. I broke my first transformer toy in over 20 years when I broke the wing on my Masterpiece Starscream the day I got it. It looks like I easily could've done something similar or worse to my MP Megatron. Aside from the Optimus Prime mold, these really aren't meant to be played with. Better luck with Grimlock?

I brought my transmetal beast wars megatron to school....my friend had it at recess...i went to the washroom and come back and.....legs and torso completely seperated...I DONT NO HOW THAT HAPPENS...he said he only transformed it....I guess megatron doesnt like being controlled. lol
Ah MP-05. I bought him. I started to transform him getting about halfway before looking at him and thinking 'Y'know, there's no way I'm gonna be displaying him in his gun mode.' I then reversed the transformation and he now takes a spot next to my 'DVD Edition' Prime (thats the cheap all plastic, orange one...sigh) as one of my small Megatron collection (4 in all, with the other 3 being the 3 versions of Animated Megatron).
Huge fan of your reviews silverbolt. However must disagree. MP 05 is fantastic, from what you have described and what other people have posted, it seems that there may be differing qualities of megatrons out there. Just got megs 3 days ago and was a bit scared to transform him but it was a lot easier than I thought. It becomes quite simple with a bit of practice, but you do have to be more careful than with prime.
Quite possibly they have fixed MP Megs up with later releases of him so if you got it early, it would have been worse but if you were to buy a newer one now then it would not be so bad.
I agree with you on this. MP Megs is a piece of shit. I got him a few months ago and he is a major letdown. I tried to transform him twice but i just had to give up. When getting his arms and ehad off the body, i just literally heard the plastic/metal parts cracking. Luckily no damage but it scared the shit out of me. Other problems with mine is that the legs flop at the hips and the torse connection doesn't click in, which makes him come apart when picked up. Not worth the $100 i spend on him.
Yo! I agree,man! I wouldn't recommand getting MP-05 Megatron. Especially because he's badly manufactured like MP Starscream. But the only Megatron toy I would recommand getting is Leader Class Movie Megatron,though I understand that most TF fans aren't please with the design,the color sceme and the raptor noise it makes,but in my opinion,it's not that bad of a figure. Or you could simply go for the premium version which is much better!
I actually like movie Megs, he looks very evil, it's just the colours that bug me a bit. I think he is blueish because Hasbro wanted to get that icy look, but sadly they failed.
Well, to be exact, The Japanese version (Car Robots) of the Megs toy only has the original 6 transformations. The white one, which is the Galvatron version has ten. So it's indeed an upgrade.
From what I understand, the RiD Megs used the Galvatron mold, thus the RiD Megs has the 10 transformations instead of the original 6.
I keep coming back to this review just for laughs, and yes, this is one of the best reviews ever. I've tried transforming mine and I was extremely careful because it really feels so fragile. after an hour of trying to transform the fucker, I gave up because I couldn't understand the instructions of how to to attach the handle to the upper body. So I transformed him back to robot mode and displayed him as is.
okay im thinking you pushed down really hard wen you should have slided. i admit the intruct manual is a little unclear about this. took me days to figure this out LOL! its the rubber thingy slide Meggys torso through it (the little pin, meggys torso is ten lose scared the sourse material out of me the first time. but its still coneected throught pin and rubber thingy)
I recently got one of these from TFSource since it was on a special sale. After a day I snapped one of the metal hinges connecting the arm to his back. Luckily I can still pose it and transform but the thing feels too damn fragile but luckily TFSource is asking me to mail it back and they'll take at a look at it.
Did you ever hear back from Takara? There's no feeling like that of getting a figure you've desperately wanted and after so little time breaking it because of poor manufacturing.

do you have the toy dumbass? I have one and I can vouch on how stupidly difficult it is to transform him and the instructions don't help that much. It also doesn't help that the few texts there are are in Japanese. Can you read Japanese asshalt?
Wtf, Damn that sucks man. When I was a child I always wanted the original megatron toy. I havent bought any transformers for over 12 years. All I really wanted was a megatron..I think now I'll just get the original reissue, or the revoltech one. I don't mind that the revotech one can't transform..at least it won't be a pain in the ass like the MasterPiece one.
I got Megatron and it does look impressive standing next to 20th anniversary Prime but damn it is difficult to transform, the upper body wasnt to bad but the legs....jeez. It took me hours but finally managed it, it looks good in gun mode even if it is oversized. Ive got the transformation down now and can do it fairly easily after several times doing it, and I managed not to brake or damage it in any way. Now im just going to leave it in robot mode cos its really not a toy, its just to fragile.

look around your room is there anything that you would be willing to sacrifice to repair your masterpiece megatron? anything that might have the parts you need at least until you can get something better. The best thing to do is never panic when something goes wrong becuase now you can not remember it exactly what just happened. I know I could fix it or die trying to find the pin. I have been in your shoes believe me and I was actually able to fix mine when it broke!
If I were you I would try to find the pin or what ever came out and ,put the pieces back in properly.If you need to go to the hardware store do it! AS for the barrel did it have have another pin where it attached? go to the hardware store again and see what parts you can use to substitute to put the barrel back into place, there are always things you can find to repair or replace whatever broke.

Mine has never been, and never will be, transformed. It might as well be a 12" revoltech figure. I love him, don't get me wrong, but I feel the need to take as much care as if I were holding a baby. Which is ridiculous for a TOY. Hope you are well.

I dont think theyre ment to be toys cause theyre way to fragile for that, just to be displayed on the shelves is what i think theyre made for, but i could be wrong

i was going to get one but im not so sure.
i suppose if it does break in 2 i can always pose optimus prime with his foot on his chest and has the energon saber in his hand.

What a pity, that figure preety fragile. That's why I'm afraid to buy that figure after watching this video. Although MP megatron is impressive & looks classic, but expensive & fragile. Ur really transformers die hard fans.

I know the feeling. I broke my first transformer toy in over 20 years when I broke the wing on my Masterpiece Starscream the day I got it. It looks like I easily could've done something similar or worse to my MP Megatron. Aside from the Optimus Prime mold, these really aren't meant to be played with. Better luck with Grimlock?

for m,e he isent that much hard to transform i had transform this thing like 11 times and i havent broke him and i can transform him from bot to gun in 20 minutes and from gun to robot like in yen minutes well anyway sttill hard to transform kinda

Dude, the same thing happened to mine!! I was on my third transformation, and thought I was well on my way to getting the hang of it, but it broke!! You're right, very, very disappointing for me. Should have viewed this vid before I spent 100 bucks on this piece of shit...

I brought my transmetal beast wars megatron to school....my friend had it at recess...i went to the washroom and come back and.....legs and torso completely seperated...I DONT NO HOW THAT HAPPENS...he said he only transformed it....I guess megatron doesnt like being controlled. lol

Ah MP-05. I bought him. I started to transform him getting about halfway before looking at him and thinking 'Y'know, there's no way I'm gonna be displaying him in his gun mode.' I then reversed the transformation and he now takes a spot next to my 'DVD Edition' Prime (thats the cheap all plastic, orange one...sigh) as one of my small Megatron collection (4 in all, with the other 3 being the 3 versions of Animated Megatron).

Huge fan of your reviews silverbolt. However must disagree. MP 05 is fantastic, from what you have described and what other people have posted, it seems that there may be differing qualities of megatrons out there. Just got megs 3 days ago and was a bit scared to transform him but it was a lot easier than I thought. It becomes quite simple with a bit of practice, but you do have to be more careful than with prime.

Quite possibly they have fixed MP Megs up with later releases of him so if you got it early, it would have been worse but if you were to buy a newer one now then it would not be so bad.

I agree with you on this. MP Megs is a piece of shit. I got him a few months ago and he is a major letdown. I tried to transform him twice but i just had to give up. When getting his arms and ehad off the body, i just literally heard the plastic/metal parts cracking. Luckily no damage but it scared the shit out of me. Other problems with mine is that the legs flop at the hips and the torse connection doesn't click in, which makes him come apart when picked up. Not worth the $100 i spend on him.

Yo! I agree,man! I wouldn't recommand getting MP-05 Megatron. Especially because he's badly manufactured like MP Starscream. But the only Megatron toy I would recommand getting is Leader Class Movie Megatron,though I understand that most TF fans aren't please with the design,the color sceme and the raptor noise it makes,but in my opinion,it's not that bad of a figure. Or you could simply go for the premium version which is much better!

I actually like movie Megs, he looks very evil, it's just the colours that bug me a bit. I think he is blueish because Hasbro wanted to get that icy look, but sadly they failed.

Well, to be exact, The Japanese version (Car Robots) of the Megs toy only has the original 6 transformations. The white one, which is the Galvatron version has ten. So it's indeed an upgrade.
From what I understand, the RiD Megs used the Galvatron mold, thus the RiD Megs has the 10 transformations instead of the original 6.

I keep coming back to this review just for laughs, and yes, this is one of the best reviews ever. I've tried transforming mine and I was extremely careful because it really feels so fragile. after an hour of trying to transform the fucker, I gave up because I couldn't understand the instructions of how to to attach the handle to the upper body. So I transformed him back to robot mode and displayed him as is.

okay im thinking you pushed down really hard wen you should have slided. i admit the intruct manual is a little unclear about this. took me days to figure this out LOL! its the rubber thingy slide Meggys torso through it (the little pin, meggys torso is ten lose scared the sourse material out of me the first time. but its still coneected throught pin and rubber thingy)

I recently got one of these from TFSource since it was on a special sale. After a day I snapped one of the metal hinges connecting the arm to his back. Luckily I can still pose it and transform but the thing feels too damn fragile but luckily TFSource is asking me to mail it back and they'll take at a look at it.
Did you ever hear back from Takara? There's no feeling like that of getting a figure you've desperately wanted and after so little time breaking it because of poor manufacturing.

do you have the toy dumbass? I have one and I can vouch on how stupidly difficult it is to transform him and the instructions don't help that much. It also doesn't help that the few texts there are are in Japanese. Can you read Japanese asshalt?

Wtf, Damn that sucks man. When I was a child I always wanted the original megatron toy. I havent bought any transformers for over 12 years. All I really wanted was a megatron..I think now I'll just get the original reissue, or the revoltech one. I don't mind that the revotech one can't transform..at least it won't be a pain in the ass like the MasterPiece one.

I got Megatron and it does look impressive standing next to 20th anniversary Prime but damn it is difficult to transform, the upper body wasnt to bad but the legs....jeez. It took me hours but finally managed it, it looks good in gun mode even if it is oversized. Ive got the transformation down now and can do it fairly easily after several times doing it, and I managed not to brake or damage it in any way. Now im just going to leave it in robot mode cos its really not a toy, its just to fragile.

Oh Man Simon I feel sorry for you dude. Did you ever hear back from Takara? What was their response? Well I gotta say its nice to see not every Transformer isn't worth it. Plus not every Transformer is one you'll rave about. Even though you balance out good with bad about the figures, this is the first one I saw where you really hate the figure.

look around your room is there anything that you would be willing to sacrifice to repair your masterpiece megatron? anything that might have the parts you need at least until you can get something better. The best thing to do is never panic when something goes wrong becuase now you can not remember it exactly what just happened. I know I could fix it or die trying to find the pin. I have been in your shoes believe me and I was actually able to fix mine when it broke!

If I were you I would try to find the pin or what ever came out and ,put the pieces back in properly.If you need to go to the hardware store do it! AS for the barrel did it have have another pin where it attached? go to the hardware store again and see what parts you can use to substitute to put the barrel back into place, there are always things you can find to repair or replace whatever broke.
