This is a beautiful version of a haunting, lovely favorite. The Eagles backup voices are incredible mixed with hers. Notice Glenn Frey on the piano...he's multi-talented. Love him!
A little trivia that some of y'all may not be aware of: When Linda Ronstadt was really popular back in the early 70's, there were four guys who made the cut for being her back up band. After about a year or so playing together, they stopped working with Linda and started their own band (with Linda's blessing) They called themselves, The Eagles... the rest, is history... ;)
Linda! That last look you gave to the last note played.>>>>>> I am going to put that on my wall,., That is sooo much beauty and feeling that it deserves my personal admiration.
Nice try, Linda, but nobody can sing it like that kid on the Langley School Music Project album, "Innocence and Despair." -- Not even the guy who wrote it, Don Henley.
all you screaching losers out there who call yourself singers listen and learn! this is talent....no smoke no jacked up moves no distractions just...... aaah im wasting my breath.
Her best song as far as I am concerned. What feeling and soul she projects in this version. I have been her fan for years and this song sort of tells the story of my life. Not many regrets though, I was one of the hillbilly hippies here in the mountains and I think that was the best time of my life. We believed we could make a difference and I think we did! Music is too canned today, not many artists and free thinkers out there.
The only thing of hers i knew of was love is a battle field which I didn't like I should have checked out her other stuff man she's great all those years wasted over one crappy song silver threads and golden needles is my favourite oh and she's quite a fox too.
@huskvarsm I think you have her mixed up with Pat Benatar (Love Is A Battlefield is her song from the mid 80's.. Don't think Linda ever did a cover of it?) I'll have to look up 'silver threads/golden needles' though, cuz I'm not sure what you're talking about...
@adcan45 No Photo but,... I have no forehead and I walk on my knuckles. So now that you have an image,... What kind of physical specimen would you discribe yourself self as? :D

I just watched Melanie Amaro's version of Desperado, and I have to say, it isn't even in the same league as Linda Ronstadt's version. BRAVO Linda!!!!

Love the original BUT I'll have to say Melanie owned this song when she sang it on XFactor USA

Linda Ronstadt's version of this song is the best of all versions. Backed by the Eagles makes this even better.
Takes me back to 1978, Linda Ronstadt at a Day on the Green at the Oakland Coliseum.

@Crowsfan55 Glenn would have been stage right on the piano. Odd that they never panned the camera over there, though.
