You're right. These are the Davy Crockett Canoes. The Mike Fink Keelboats were a similar attraction that ran from 1955 to 1997. There are pictures of them on Yesterland.

Cascade Peak :). But where's a Mike Fink Keelboat?? Were you thinking of Davy Crocett Canoes? Those are used during busier times at Disneyland now.
