There were hundreds of different tribes; all with different languages and cultures. Some made peace with the settlers, others tried to kill them on sight. Many tribes were at war with each other. If you did your research, you would know that the reason the conflict exists now is not because of religion, but because of the disputed control over Kashmir. India doesn't want to give it to Pakistan, and Pakistan wants it, causing the fighting. The same would be happening even if Pakistan were a country with some other religion in the majority.
