  • I think only a full orchestra can do this piece justice.

  • I think the Chernabog was put in at the last minute so players could take revenge on him.

  • In which KH-game do you fight him?

  • @ThePrincessAsshole The original

  • This music gave me a deja vu. Strangely enough, no deja vu of kingdom hearts. You know the wii game little king's story? The final boss theme of this game sounds VERY similar to this one.

  • Hmmm... That part of Fantasia didn't give me nightmares. I loved that scene the most.

  • This guy is a BASTARD on Expert without fire resistances!

  • Isn't this song also in Donkey Kong Country 2?

  • @SmellyCandle42 Donkey Kong Country 2?

I have no idea, I played this game and I have not listened this anywhere in this game.

As much as I know, this music appeared in Earthworm Jim

  • when i was a little kid i thought it was satan LOL

  • *expects theme song from God Hand*

Hmm, "disappointed" isn't the exact word, but...

  • Believe it or not when I was a kid (I'm 16 now) I was actually fascinated by him because of how cool he and his demons looked

  • my reaction to seeing him in-game: Revenge is a dish best served VERY COLD. Your order is ready.

  • Chernabog scared the living crap out of me as a child. Years later, playing Kingdom Hearts, you would not believe how much I freaked out hearing this...

Needless to say, I got my revenge.

  • Nobody wants Chernabog's Wrath, thus, no dislikes.

that and this song is really good.

  • this sounds like it is from an black and white terror movie like Mars Attacks xD

  • Marvelous theme, classic or remix.

I love when classics are used like this, in such a wonderful piece of music,

and in video games! Music + experience = priceless

  • @Wadell8 Watch Fantasia. Thats where its from.

  • This is a remix of some classical piece... I don't remember what it is though. They used it in the final battle of Little King's Story. The boss scared you with appearance, symbolism, irony, action, and SHOCK. The game looks like the pages of a well-illustrated children's book. Even aptly named Skull Plains weren't creepy. But THAT BOSS... DEAR GOD... Oh, but if you plan on playing the game, don't look up the final boss. It's a MAJOR spoiler. Plus you won't understand the symbolism or irony or

  • @Wadell8 The classical piece is called Night on Bald Mountain. It was written by... I forgot his name but he's Russian.

  • meh. just isnt that great

  • This is what happened when I first encountered this bastard:

Me: *Jumps into the little hole thing* Alright time to kick Ansem's ass! :D

    *Music begins*

    Me: ...What...n-no it can't be!

    *Chernabog appears*

    Me: NO!! NOT YOU!!!

    *Battle starts*

Me: THIS IS FOR SCARING THE SHIT OUTTA ME AS A KID!!!!! >:U

  • 0 people... wait... wah?

  • this is FUCKING AWESOME

  • Only Peanut could not have haters!

  • Mussorgsky wins :3

  • notice this song is in the beginning of the "What The Heck?" song from Earthworm Jim?

  • @idmariomaster I would say the beginning of the "What the Heck?" level's music is more of a shout out or a parody to Night on Bald mountain.

  • I actually didn't realize chernabog was from Fantasia, I'd never seen it before so i thought it was a heartless, looks enough like a heartless

  • @ShmadamMasterMan77 The original plans for the game were to have Chernabog be the source of all heartless, so yeah. Mr. Time-Constraint didn't like that though. But, since they already had the boss programmed and everything, they decided it would be a waste to not use it.

  • @cuthbertwensleydale9 lol, mr. time-constraint, funny, anyway that makes sense, its a good thing they still used him anyway, he's one of my favorite bosses

  • Chernabog scared the living crap out of me but his immolation and eruption attacks are just freaking awesome, as is this music :D

  • This is one HELL of a song! *giggles*

  • this reminds me of starfox 64 for some reason...

  • *suddenly elevator music*

    Oh, sorry, wrong game.

  • took me for freaking ever to beat this guy, his flame explosions and other attacks always got me

  • If onyl there had been a Night on Bald Mountain area in Epic Mickey.

  • They also used this as the theme for Evil the Cat in the Earthworm Jim game on the SNES if I remember rightly.

  • @SuperMathsBeaver yep, right before the elevator music came in.

  • @apollo5251994 I'd forgotten about that! XD

  • @SuperMathsBeaver Evil the Cat? That reminds me of Felix the Cat.

  • @SuperMathsBeaver they used a portion of it

  • Oh, my, I love this song.

  • its a shame, its like he doesn't exist nowadays. He was my favorite KH Boss of all time, and nobody remebers him...Even my family doesn't know this guy (My great-grandfather worked personally with Walt) What a pity...

  • I don't care if you call him mister fluffy and he would still be the devil!

    DEVIL!

  • im confused...i played KH1 & 2 all the way through and did most of the extra stuff....i dont remember this being in it, or that boss....o.O...where was it? was it in one of the remixes or something?

  • @Japanman888 it was in the final world of KH1, and I'm pretty sure it's there no matter what version you have. It's a while after you fight the 2nd behemoth.

  • @bluesoul1000 oh yeah!!! that was sooooo long ago....i vaguely remember flying around fighting a demon...lol

  • shoulda used the bob james version...

  • @Peanut3423 i played this last year in band

  • my first time around this dude gave me trouble, but in my third(and expert run) i killed him on the first try, really weird

  • oh my god I HATED this fight!!! I died against him like ten times!!!

  • Does the beggining of the song remind anyone of Hornet Hole from DKC2?

  • For such an amazing track and boss, the game acts like it never existed after you beat it. No journal entry or anything.

  • @Gamemaster25a Maybe Chernabog is actually a really obviously not hidden Easter Egg

  • You should do an AVGM of City Escape From Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

  • thumbs up for earthworm jim (and mussorgsky)

  • Zisteau would be proud.

  • YES!!! THIS WAS IN EARTHWORM JIM (or whatever its name is)!!! But it's not from Earthworm whatever and its not from Kingdom Hearts either. This is a classical piece not a video game piece.

  • Fun Fact: This is a bonus song in Guitar Hero; Warriors of Rock, called Barren Mountain.

  • WHAT? Isn't this What The Heck from Earthworm Jim? Or at least sound like it?

  • @dyldragon1 Nope. Its a piece of classical music written for a Russian folk tale I think. Its in the movie Fantasia

  • @JuanDVene Thanks for that, I must've sounded like an idiot lol.

  • @dyldragon1 not really. Anybody who has played Earthworm Jim b4 seeing Fantasia could get that confused.

  • Think about it

You're a little boy, companioned by a duck and a dog and you're fighting Satan.

  • Sora and co. are in for it now...

how can they beat Ultralord? WITH HYPER WINGS???

  • wait, this is from earthworm jim!!!

  • @moldingthegalaxy no it isnt.

  • @JuanDVene

go look at planet heck music: it starts out with this song and then goes to this weird elevator music =P

  • Wait... AVGM 199!? But it's 194! Sure, that 9 might be a 4, but it looks EXACTLY like the 9!

  • Random trivia: Apparently, Chernabog was originally meant to be the final boss of Kingdom Hearts, instead of Ansem.

  • i fell asleep 2 this song...

  • Anybody else expecting it to stop at 0:24 and then there to be elevator music and screaming? Clearly a popular piece of music among game developers...

  • Why is nobody giving props for Modest Mussorgsky, who originally composed the piece? -_-

  • My thoughts when Chernabog showed up: "Are you F***ING KIDDING ME??"

  • Hey peanut, can you include some professor Layton into avgm? It's got an awesome soundtrack.

  • This was the only time in a video game where I cried out of fear instead of sadness.

  • so lemme get this straight ansem's heartless is so badass he made the DEVIL his bodyguard!?

  • I hope that most people have realized that this originally isn't video game music.

I know, it'd be stupid as heck, but hey, anything's possible.

  • @13mungoman13

Of course. It's a piece of classical music... Used many years later in an animated movie... Used many years later in a video game...

    Yeah.

  • @peanut3423 Exactly. I just wanted too make it clear, y'know, cuz there's all sorts of morons out there. Someone might ask.

  • @peanut3423 and used in another video game

  • @peanut3423

What is the classical piece called?

  • @leviathan1173 dude, its the title of the video. night on bald mountain

  • This version of the theme is good, but it still isn't as fast or holds a finger to Modest Mussorgsky's original (I'm a classical music aficionado, and I like the Slavic composers the best).

  • Every video game needs a scary boss. Earthbound's was Gygas, Kirby's was Zero Two, American McGee's Alice's was the Red Queen, and Kingdom Hearts' was the Disney's symbolistic SATAN.

  • if you look closely you can actually see phantom (the boss at the clock tower)

in fantasia during the night of the bald mountain

  • Earthworm Jim :DD

  • the begining kinda sounds like the library7roller coaster song from dk country 2

  • Please Vampire Killer or Look Pimpin.

  • IT'S THE F****** DEVIL! But isn't weird that this was in Kingdom Hearts and Earthworm Jim?

  • @jhardyrules I digress. Disney does not own the piece. Whoever wrote it does. Disney only used it for Fantasia, as they with every song IN Fantasia.

  • Wasn't this in Earthworm Jim?

  • It was awesome that they used chernabog as a boss.

  • WTF, the intro's a remix of Planet heck's music from the first Earthworm Jim?!

  • @Timberwolf139 sorry fantasia came first which played this theme

  • @quizboy99 oh, never mind then

  • playing this in Orchestra was a pain... fun, but a pain

  • I started listening, and I remembered this theme right away, but not from KH!!!

And I don't know from where I remember it

  • When he is in the end of the worlds, the world of all the heartless, does that mean that this would is hell? And BTW, what does an disney character, even though he's pure evil, in a heartless world?

  • thoughts as a kid "oh crap, whats going on, what the he..OH SHIT, NOY YOU AGAIN!"

thoughts when i'm older "HA HA, PAYBACK TIME SUCKA!"

  • You know, I may prefer this over Darkness of the Unknown

  • Win. This piece is also the final boss theme for Little King's Story. Pretty obscure, but a great soundtrack.

  • I have always liked Night on the Bald Mountain, because it was perfectly fitting for dangerous situations, or when you feel being observed.

By the way, when are you going to upload "What The Heck?"? If I recall correctly, it used to be in your AVGM list.

  • Just so you know, Czernobog is not so much the devil as Death incarnate.

  • @TRRProductions11 So.... like the Grim Reaper?

  • lol u have also a costum song on guitar hero warriors of rock named barren mountain and its this exact same song

  • Ah yes... I remember that film back from First Grade's music class....

The teacher held up a cardboard over the TV when that scene with the naked ladies came on... I just sat there wondering "What the heck is this film about?"

  • FTW.

  • @joshscorcher I heard earlier that Chernabog would be present in a future KH game, so we may get that. Still, I thought this battle to be the best boss in the game (or one of them). What do you think of it?

  • Better than the final boss

  • *shivers*man i remenber him he was a pain to fight and man did he scare the shit out of me when i was a kid he kept one thing from the movie that i acutally like he never talks and hes part of a mountain no breaking off and flying about just staying there not moveing from his spot

  • OH GREAT SCOTT, I REMBER THIS BATTLE. Donald Kept spaming thunder on the guy and goofy and i had to kept hitting him [BAD MESTAKE!] And i had to waste all of my potions keeping those 2 alive.

  • Ren & Stimpy And EarthWorm Jim music FTW!

  • @WOOTcorey I know that, but I believe peanut used this version of the song in that part of said countdown.

  • Freaking amazing!

  • SIGH...such an awesome song. I wonder how awesome the battle would be if done nowadays. Kingdom Hearts II's battle system was much flashier, and this would be awesome with some reaction commands that fell into beat with the melody.

  • As much as I like this boss and the music, its sadly a boss that comes out of nowhere

  • Oh man. I remember this boss. Took me about 10 tries at least.

  • funny how the final boss of Blood is called chernObog :O

  • I was one of those strange kids that actually really liked the Night on Bald Mountain sequence, so this boss was quite a nice bit of nostalgia for me. :3

  • This guy was so fun to beat up because of childhood memories... until I realized that I was fighting the devil with an oversized key and my partners are a duck and and a dog. Reality sucks when you are playing a video game.

  • Hey remeber this from Top 15 Most Disturbing Bosses this is my favorite KH Theme

  • Fun fact: In the Japanese version of the game, there was no Night on Bald Mountain. When ported to the US, they added it just for this boss only, making Chernabog the only boss with his own theme.

  • And now you can fight the devil in Kingdom Herarts. Cool.

  • From what I hear, the original plan was to make the Chernabog the final boss of Kingdom Hearts and Ansem be defeated at the end of Hallow Bastion. The final level was going to be a long climb up Bald Mountain to defeat the embodiment of darkness itself (said Chernabog.) This didn't work out during development, but they still kept it in as a surprise mid boss.

  • He should really come back for KH3.

  • @TheManiacalGamer That or throw in the Firebird from Fantasia 2000.

  • Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa WHOA! I DO NOT remember this in the game AT ALL!

  • @GamerCherri haha, yeah, I always forget about this boss aswell! xD It's RIGHT before the last boss fight(s) :)

  • @Smileoscar Oh yeah! I think I'm starting to remember now.

  • Funny, I remember only being scared of the pissed off Yen Sid from Fantasia. Chernabog didn't really scare me that much. Nor did the sequence itself.

  • Fantasia scared the piss out of me as a kid. This is exactly why...

  • Isn't this the version you used for the Queen Slug For A Butt segment in top 15 Most Disturbing Bosses?

  • @SuperRetrodude no, it's another remix used for her if i recall correctly

  • @SuperRetrodude That's because that song is also in Earthworm Jim in the What the Heck stage.

  • @SuperRetrodude THAT'S how I know it! I've never played the game this comes from, but it seemed so familiar.

  • While easy, it was still a fun and memorable battle, in both good and bad ways.

  • Awesome music. It even speeds up as he's about to be finished.

  • Chernabog was kind of a Giant Space Flea from Nowhere, and a Big Lipped Alligator Moment, but it kicked ass. Loved the fight, it was so fun.

  • Good music, good music.

  • Good choice: too bad that Square did'nt pick up again Chernabog. For now at least.

  • Calling this video game music is a bit of a stretch.

  • @hark2e It's an edited verson of the original A Night on Bald Mountain that was used in Kingdom Hearts (a video game) & the music, along with Chernabog himself, scared kids witless; so it does get classed as a piece of video game music since it was used in a video game

  • I never watched that movie.... that's one trauma averted!

  • @Chrizzz42 You should! It's (in my opinion) the greatest Disney film ever made!

  • I loved this guy! never really was afraid of him when I was younger, more intrigued than anything. shame he was so unforgettable in the first game and didn't get any other mention.

  • also i've heard this somewhere other than Kingdom Hearts and Fantasia. not sure where but i know i have

  • @hinaruto14 Probably Earthworm Jim.

  • @hinaruto14 earthworm Jim?

  • @Aceofstars64 yeah thats it

  • @hinaruto14 Me too o.O

  • man Chernabog was tough as hell. Kingdom Hearts is one the best games ever

  • I think that reason they put the Chernabog in Kingdom Hearts was simply so kids that were terrified of him could exact their revenge.

  • Never got to this guy, unfortunately... always wanted to, though.

  • this was such a tough boss fight

  • My god, I loved every second of this boss fight.

  • I'm ashamed that I never actually saw that movie.

As for the song, yeah it's awesome.

  • Hectic :)

  • *trollface*

  • It's Remixed? I never noticed.

  • @aggeroff The beginning is far slower in the movie since it's building up but since the fight is much more fast-paced in the game, they sped it up.

  • holy hell this guy in DDD? DO WANT

  • Always atmospheric,

    Always a surprise boss battle

    Always Awesome Video Game Music

  • 1st comment

  • When I first saw him at Fantasia my mum switched off the TV and told me I was too young to watch that.

When I fought against him in Kingdom Hearts, I thougt: 'Ha, mum, now I'm old enough to BEAT him!'

    :D
