  • george michael sounds really similar to freddie

  • Comment removed

  • OF THE BEST SONGS OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!

  • this has to be the best cover ever, george michael is the only man who could ever come close to replacing freddie mercury i really don't understand why george turned it down when he was given the chance !

  • géant !

  • He was like struggling to sing this song, showing how great freddie was.. although i never have the chance to listen to him when he was alive, i still miss him (alright it sounds weird)

  • fd

  • Come on George, step up, you know you want to. Freddie's songs need to be sung. You owe us for having to listen to 'Last Christmas' every bloody year!

  • best cover ever

  • in what year was this concert?

  • Best moment is from 3:59 on. It's as if Freddie's soul was assending at that very moment. The smile on Brians face, the crowd claping in unison, that wall of light from the stage. Probably the greatest moment in the history of live music. So much emotion it sends shivers down my spine whenever I hear it.

  • dont be ridiculous ,he do not sound like Freddie ,just watch freddie performance on live at the bowl and compare ,george michael is amazing singer but he has got weaker voice than freddie ,not that power ,not that emotion

  • @AntonioElfHumback you the one who ridiculous, i even don't know the guy who sing up there, of course he didn't sounds like Freddie and this is a tribute concert god dammit. Brian and the others didn't pick him randomly, all i wanna say is just respect what that singers did, me my self glad to see he can bring the atmosphere of one of my favorite Queen song to the crowd, i RESPECT that, and i know Freddie would do the same. So you FAKE fans!!! get the fuck off out of here!!

  • I remember watching this live on MTV. During an interview that was aired about the tribute concert, Brian May said when he first heard George Michael on the radio, he would have sworn it was Freddie Mercury singing if he didn't know better. George Michael did such an amazing job singing this song. A beautiful tribute to a talented musician that died well before his time.

  • I don't know why, but this song always makes me cry... That's a great song, though

  • What year was this?

  • @Mattlekou 1992

  • If you close your eyes or heard this on the radio you would swear this was Freddie.

  • Always thought George sounded very similar to Freddie, especially on the Wham song Last Christmas. Nice job here

  • George Michael really is the business.........

  • 25 people have nobody to love

  • George Micheal needs to join Queen. What a fucking voice! Forget the search and that Adam Lamwhateverhisnameis. QUEEN. ITS STARING YOU RIGHT IN THE FACE! GEORGE MICHAEL IS THE MAN TO DO FREDDIE JUSTICE!

  • @whatthefluk ..yeah, you are right! It was almost the original!!! I hope they will make it real!

  • @whatthefluk His voice is pretty close to his range

  • Brilliant voice!!

  • Absolutely amazing. 3mn55 : goosebumps.

  • one of the very best singers of all time !

  • Brian May's smile says it all

  • This is the only cover I'd accept of my favourite song. George you did it great ♥.

  • It blows my mind every time, that whole stadium singing at 3:57 -- I think that's why the band looked so emotional. Damn do I miss that Freddie.

  • it'd better if bon jovi made a queen cover

  • I've always been a fan of George Michael, what can I say, I'm an 80's child:) I really wish I could have been there live to experience this one song....they chose the perfect person to belt out this tune in loving memory of Freddie. He nailed it with his own twist, plain and simple and paid the utmost respect to one of the greatest entertainers of our generation.

  • George Michael had the best performance in this concert if you ask me. He was so excited to perform this song and he was kinda happy in a way, like he was celebrating the legacy that Freddie left in this world, not the fact that he died. Great job Michael !

  • Very very good, but not Freddie, miss his voice every day :(

  • oh my god unbelievable British are lucky to have such artist

  • Highlight of the concert

  • After looking close to Roger, Brian and John you can see they are pretty emontional near the end of this song.

Very understandable seeing how perfectly it has been performed.

  • I have it all in VHS! I want to have in dvd!

  • I remember watching this on tv back in the day and this whole tribute and all the performers brings back great memories.

  • 3:55 EPIC

  • They call this owning it. George Micheal owned this on this night.

  • Great vocals by... what's his name?

  • Wow, watching this gives me goosebumps!

  • Outstanding performance !!!!!!!

  • Niet overstappen naar de Nederlandse Energie Maatschappij!

    Hun tarieven zijn echt hoog!

Ik ben energie adviseur en weet waar ik naar moet kijken

  • splendid performance

  • spendid performance

  • Probably Lemmy would not be the best election to sing a Freddie's song, but it would have been nice see in the stage another metalhead besides Tony Iommi

  • I am a hard rock and heavy metal fan who thinks QUEEN is one of the greatest icons of genre, and even though George Michael is not precisely Lemmy or Rob Halford, his perfomance probably was the best that day.

  • Best performer on the day. Good version in it's own right.

  • Freddie was for sure looking down with a big grin on his face, saying "I like it!"

Thank you Freddie, for giving the world music that will love forever & being the greatest rock star/frontman of all time, there will NEVER be anyone to come along to match your greatness ever again...

  • Goosebumps every time

  • george did good

  • 3:47 sounds exactly as Freddie

  • Comment removed

  • Great performance ... but I was a bit worried George's hair was going to fall off.

  • what a good performance. brian may does the solo better live

  • It's sad that when I saw the title, I thought of the Justin Bieber song.

  • great!!! the best in this tribute... Freddie was happy listened George!!!

  • the best performance that day, look at the smile on Brian Mays face

  • I guess I didn't expect this kind of performance from George Michael, great!

  • @Pietruss people forget that he has a really fantastic voice. George is a really talented singer.

  • @schnoooozie Agreed! You can listen carefully to George with both your ears and your heart, and find that he sings absolutely beautiful, as well as technical! He is an amazing singer that must not be forgotten!

  • Great effort by George! Best cover on that concert.

  • He's not well but he is out of hospital and doing better then he has been the last days. Hes getting back on full strenght and then he will be playing the canceled tours. Good luck with that GM! X

  • For everyone interested: George Michael back from hospital and he's doing well.

  • I adore George Michael and really miss Freddie RIP xoxo

  • @catalinsaftoiu Cataline, foloseste goole translate . Craciun fericit si asculta Queen, Thank God it's cristmas ca merita. :) salut

  • @gremlincrown1666 Roger Daltrey is also very good

  • George, Freddie would be proud of you, for sure!!! best performance of that day!

  • FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • this is actually pretty good....... he is the only person who can cover queen songs and not make me want to kill myself...(jk btw)

  • GOD I love this...

  • i would of loved to of been at that show!

  • Freddie smile hearing George

  • george sounds better than Freddie , to me

  • Close you eyes, and listen... very very close to Freddies voice...

  • people, see how Gary Mullen sings Queen, you will shit your pants.

  • This was the best performance

  • I remember watching this live .. there had been all these top singers changing keys and still struggling with Freddies vocals .. Then George Michael came on and just owned the day ... You can see Brian May's face saying it all ..

  • I was born on the same year Freddie died =(

  • All miss to Freddy Mercury Here :(

  • Jesus, George. Could you have done Freddie any prouder? I don't think so. I really, really don't think so.

  • hearing the entire stadium sing those notes in key! Gave me hard core chills!

  • That's just amazing!There's a man in the hungarian x faktor,who sang this song ALMOST like George M.His amazing,watch him:Kocsis Tibor-Somebody to love.

  • i got goosebumps hearing this song, this amazing tribute really shows what music is all about

  • George did great in this tribute, he didnt try to copy Friddie, he honoured him without insulting the fans, he added his own spark :) nice one George!

  • Perfect

  • I regret being born in 92.

  • I love the chorus behind of Roger.

  • I know he's gay and all, but who cares. It's so awesome how he sings the songs, he sings them so.. perfectly.

  • @CherryAppleSnoopy What a stupid opening to your sentence.

  • @DannyMeteora What an ass you are, but then you were hoping for this respense weren't you??

  • @DannyMeteora You know, it never ceases to amaze me how little respect people have for themselves. Congrats, you win the smallest mind of the year award.

  • Very good cover!!!!!

  • esto si es musica! no como esa mierda de bieber!

  • Only 636,231 views for one of the most beautifull moments in rock history?

  • George Michael is in the Vienna's hospital fighting pneumonia. Please pray for him to get well soon, we can't afford to loose another legend....

    P.S.

    post_akh_diz@akhwien.at

This the e-mail of the hospital in Vienna, where you can send your "get well" wishes to George. Karin Fehringer, the lady who is responsible for the PR at the hospital said that she will care for forwarding.

  • @felishaaaaaaa

i heard he got a wee chill while dogging at 3am

  • @felishaaaaaaa is he ok? has he gotten better???

  • Kind of similar voice with Freddie

  • George michael nails it basically <3

  • Can anybody find an actual recording for freddie mercury singing this?

  • This peformance is brilliant.

He sings it on his own way, but he gives th energy of this song just like freddie gave it to the song!

  • @JorDBosch

    woops Freddie*

  • when i first heared this version on mp3 i actually thought it was Freddy. but now i see its George Michael i hear a slight diffrence in voice :P

    awesome job Michael

  • is very close, but another voice!

  • Instead of Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert try Justin Hawkins (great unique voice and a huge Queen fan) or this genius with the great voice to tour with them! But the best would have been if Roger and Brian would do the singing themselves

  • George Michael is the only one that even comes close to the late, great Freddie...RIP Freddie...We miss you!!!

  • Not a huge fan of George Michael, but this... this is incredible ~

  • Incredible performance. Should have taken on the job as tthe band's new frontman, The transition from Mercury to Michael would have been seamless.

  • awesome! x

  • no michael szacun- to bylo dobre

  • Perfect George!

  • buen cantante sin duda george michael, aka lo hizo magnifiko.

  • Somebody to love is my favourite Queen song and George Michael did the best cover. Simply wonderful.

  • Rest in peace Freddie...

  • Rest in peace!

  • 20 year ago Freddy died. Rest in peace!

  • 22 idioti non sanno cosa sia la musica...

  • George Michael Performance is BETTER than Freddi Mercury..

  • @yosraz1 Ergh....go and liste Mercury Live on Newcastle 1979 or Sao Paulo.....here Michael hit good A4's and B#4's and hit the falsetto note, but Freddie hitted B#4's, C5's and C#5 in a great part of his performances

  • @FreddieMercury1994 ..you have your opinion and i have mine and i believe that George performed it miles better than Freddie..Sorry but this is my opinion

  • George Michael..you're AWESOME

  • More than100.000 people claping their hands at the same time!

Today, it would be impossible. Everyone there would be with his mobile in the hand...paying atenttion to take a pic instead enjoying the concert.

Maybe, those seconds, are one of my fav concert moment ever!

  • @dperdi If you like that, go watch Live Aid and Freddie work the crowd on Radio Gaga.

  • Queen + George Michael would have been much better than Queen + Paul Rogers.

  • GREATEST VIDEO OF ALL TIME!!!!!

  • Noone could ever replace the great Freddy.... But George did an amazing job with this... The only one who could have made live QUEEN after Freddy... AMAZING SINGER!

  • how could people possibly dislike this???

  • George Michael is DEFINETELY one of the most under-rated and under-apprieciated vocal TALENTS of the 80's/90's. he's the only person who can cover Queen song's and NOT make me cringe. good job GM.

  • @blindingsun nice peter can do it better than him

  • I've seen the whole tribute concert few times and George unfortunately seems to be the only one who can sing :///

  • 3:18 ... LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

  • The best show ever!

  • the best performance of the concert!!!

  • pure magic

  • George would be the best replacement. What a great singer.

  • @ProfDundi Replacement? I hope that was the only word you could think of. No-one can replace Freddie.

  • @GreatWhiteBrow I understand your quite romantic idea, but everyone is replaceable. If a unique singer like Bon Scott was successfully replaced, why not Freddy. Nothing in offense I think Freddy was great and unique, but Queen are still alive and touring and and from all the singers they've toured with so far, and performed with, George is by miles the best.

  • @ProfDundi I see your logic. You make a fair point and I have no idea how the hell I spelled Freddy wrong.

  • great !!!!!!

  • brian's applause closed the subject

  • George is the only one, besides Freddie, who can sing this song the way it should be sung! Love this one!

  • brilliant song, amazing cover by George, freddy would have loved to have seen this

  • Just the way he dresses.....

  • AGAINAGAIN ;D

  • 4:02 Just look at Brian May.

He know that Everybody loves that moment of the song.

I love it and I have the same smile at my face when it comes.

    And that smile is priceless!

  • Freddy Mercury was in the soul of everyone who sang his songs that day

  • I am a huge, huge fan of George Michael since 1983.....and i am so very proud to be one. Isn't he amazing?

  • amazing, absolutely amazing

  • Best replacement for Freddie!!!!

  • Something like this won't ever happen again.

On that final note.... Freddie was there for a moment.

And that's proof that he will never truly die.

It's up to the people today to honor his memory and let his music live on.

  • I love you George!!!

  • Love it.. Love it .. makes me miss freddy mercury .. alotttt ..
