The Phantom isn't a SUPERhero, cause he doesn't have any powers. He's like Batman, just a hero. Without the "super" part. And hell no that this looks better then Green Lantern. I know you guys are "everything was better back then", but come on... that's just insane.

I wonder when their gonna reboot this? It would do well if they put a good effort into it . I could see a good saga if they put their mind to it! But that's just my opinion. But that's if they take time and write a good script and keep it true to the comics origin.

@MrD6M6K6 an interesting thing about early comics is that grey was a hard color to print for some reason, hulk was originally supposed to be grey, but changed to green, as well as phantom from grey to purple it appears.
Looks awesome. I remember watching a little bit and as i recall, Wiliam H Macy was in it. I liked the action/adventure apect of it. Kinda like Batman meets Indiana Jones. I have got to see it again.

@MrD6M6K6 I saw the movie today. The movie as a whole wasn't as bad as I remembered it. It was fine, especially in the beginning. The costume worked better than I remembered because it wasn't a bright purple, and it had some markings on it(maybe it could have looked more tribal though). The main problem was the head piece, and maybe billy zane's posturing. I think a loincloth would be a good compromise for the underpants part of the costume. the movie has a lot of other problems though.

Originally Lee Falk wanted the costum to be gray, and even is mentioned on the paper strip in spite being colorized purple, I think on the movie it shoud have been gray. After all when they made Batman they didn´t put Michael Keaton on a blue- gray suit.

The cinematography, production design and score to this movie were all fantastic. The film looks great! It also had a wonderful sense of humor about itself. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have watched it many times. Very underrated, indeed.

Such a great movie! I should have bought it when I had the chance, I can't find this movie to buy or rent anywhere! It is so underrated. I like that he is a crime-fighter with guns, rather than hokey gadgets and gizmos, so cool. It's really intriguing too, the whole story with the skulls and the pirates. The fact that it takes place in the 30s or 40s is really cool too, makes it look cool and stylized. Any movie that makes a purple leotard-wearing hero seem cool and real, is a success! Love it!

Phantom and Tarzan are most legenedary superheroes of all the time. they gave inspiration to new super heroes like Superman,Spider-man,Wolverine, and even Batman.

@dagbli Purple is the correct colour, which is why they put all the "tribal tattoo" designs into it, to make it look better on screen. On the page, purple is correct.

The Phantom was really underrated movie. Yes, I expected much more action and fight scenes but still it was great movie. Billy Zane was so cute as Phantom. Kristy Swanson and Catherine Zeta-Jones were charming as always.

kegorogers, just FYI: the Phantom isn't technically a super hero because he doesn't have any super-powers. The term used in the 20s & 30s was "costumed adventurer", i.e.; Zorro, the pulp version of the Shadow, the Spider, etc.
I remember watching this as a kid, it was so cool. And the intro for the phantom with the drums and all was awesome. Today, your really get how cliche and ridiculous the storyline was. I hope someone someday gives the phantom the movie he deserves...

The best parts of the movie are the romanticish parts and whe they ride on the horse and go in the cave with all the jewels.

Such a great movie! I should have bought it when I had the chance, I can't find this movie to buy or rent anywhere! It is so underrated. I like that he is a crime-fighter with guns, rather than hokey gadgets and gizmos, so cool. It's really intriguing too, the whole story with the skulls and the pirates. The fact that it takes place in the 30s or 40s is really cool too, makes it look cool and stylized. Any movie that makes a purple leotard-wearing hero seem cool and real, is a success! Love it!

Love this movie so much, I don't care what people say. It was such a huge part of my childhood, and I love it so much, and I remember there was also a cartoon movie or something based of the phantom and that too was awesome! :) Billy zane is awesome.

Little known fact: Billy Zane is actually The Phantom. When the media started to get on to him about his secret identity, he starred in the film to draw the attention away from himself.

i dont mind b movies and i really dont mind superhero movies..hell even one of my favoritt tv series as a kid was "defenders of the earth" thats how i remb the phantom.. but for some reason i was unable to watch more then 15-20min of this movie before i turned it off.. not saying it failed back then or that it fails for kids around 6-9 years old because i cant really speak for them or then.. but ye...it failed

Phantom and Tarzan are most legenedary superheroes of all the time. they gave inspiration to new super heroes like Superman,Spider-man,Wolverine, and even Batman.
this movie is actualy very good movie coz its hard to do good movie about character like Phantom, and Team who make the movie their money was limited. if someday we see another Phantom movie it would be cool if Steven Spielbeg or Peter Jackson would direct it.

SyFy is producing a miniseries for air in 2010, but it gonna shock a lot of die hard phantom fans as the new Kit Walker, shuns the traditional suit for something different. I feel it with have the flavor of superman returns, glad he back but who is this guy?

Someone should make a new end better version of this movie.
The mask is totally wrong...he´s eyes are showing...and the phantom outfit would have looked better dark blue instead of purple.

@dagbli Purple is the correct colour, which is why they put all the "tribal tattoo" designs into it, to make it look better on screen. On the page, purple is correct.

this movie did the hero justice!!!!! the new syfy movie of the Phantom sucks!!!! They have ruined the characters costume! it looks like crap!!!! They should have left the costume alone there was nothing wrong with it! It is the true Phantom costume!

The Phantom was really underrated movie. Yes, I expected much more action and fight scenes but still it was great movie. Billy Zane was so cute as Phantom. Kristy Swanson and Catherine Zeta-Jones were charming as always.

kegorogers, just FYI: the Phantom isn't technically a super hero because he doesn't have any super-powers. The term used in the 20s & 30s was "costumed adventurer", i.e.; Zorro, the pulp version of the Shadow, the Spider, etc.

I remember watching this as a kid, it was so cool. And the intro for the phantom with the drums and all was awesome. Today, your really get how cliche and ridiculous the storyline was. I hope someone someday gives the phantom the movie he deserves...
