  • If you have trouble finding ground pork, just buy some boneless country ribs, cut them into chunks and mince them in a food processor. You can do the same with shrimp or chicken, just pulse it until it is ground up.

    spring rolls = served cold 

    Egg rolls = Served hot

    Both are wrapers with filling in them only spring rolls are healthier, and thinner then most eggrolls

  • one thing I do instead of cutting and shredding the cabbage and carrots is go and get a bag of cole slaw mix, it's already pre made and ready to go which saves some time. if you can't find ground pork go into any store that has a meat counter and they will usually upon request grind some up for you, if they don't have it already pre-packaged.

  • even when the rolls go brown, leave them in the oil for a bit longer if you guys feel the meat isnt done, plus im sure it is, oil is VERY HOT. Il make this stuff all over summer! for my bentos

    I agree.. precook the meat guys. Those egg roll wrappers can cook to dark brown in less than a minute.

  • I made these last night making about 20 pork and 20 shrimp eggrolls and I cannot thank you enough for making this video. Cannot stress enough that you should watch how hot your oil gets though, they do not take long to burn if the oil is too hot.

  • @nopmop Your oil was too hot. The outside cooked before the inside was able to reach the right temperature. Cook it longer at a lower slightly lower temp.

  • @keniajk You can cook the meat and veggie mixture before filling the wrappers, or you can try cooking them on a lower heat. Learn from your mistakes instead of giving up.

  • i know it looks yummy... but...i made them like 10 minutes ago and they tasted awful. i dont know if it was because i used ground beef instead of pork or chicken, but they were sooo bad. and the worst part was that they were a little expensive to make.

    now i have to throw them away because i dont want my dog to eat oily food.

  • @keniajk Good call, I would'nt want your dog eating your shitty cooking anyway. This is a simple recipe, if you fuck it up when making it then it's on you.

  • @keniajk I think the ground beef by itself would taste a bit greasy or dull, I imagine better meats would be poultry or seasoned pork. I know expensive, but the results maybe better. good luck!

  • Great recipe. I made it the other day with a few changes. I omitted the noodles though that was only because I didn't have any, used teriyaki instead of soy sauce, put a bit more sugar, double the amount of garlic called for, and curry powder.

    I believe the roll itself contains egg (like pasta), as opposed to some rolling paper that is rice based.

    Haha, I do not really like eggs and don't eat them (though if they're mixed into the product I don't mind), so I was always hesitant to try eggrolls because I assumed they would be quite eggy, as you say. Didn't know what I was missing until I actually tried one.

  • I swear egg roll isn't real chinese food. I think its some crap Chinese restaurants in America invented that made use of cheap local ingredients. Real rolls are wrapped in fried tofu and soaked in a sauce, tastes way better than egg roll.

  • most of the chinese food you see in america is americanized deep fried stuff. Its an american palate thing. In either instance, it would be like calling a bigmac a real cheeseburger. Its all relative.

  • @kovona honestly speaking i believe that they are two separate entities in and of themselves for the simple fact that its just the wrap around the filling, as a matter of fact theyre one of the great customizables next to buns, sandwiches, and pizza, not to mention pasta think about it the only differances in any of them are the fillings/toppings and the bread or base or noodle
