  • This is full of shit! No man will give up his power! If I am wrong why doesn't USA give up evolution!

  • ''Despite all our failings, we humans are capable of greatness' - stirs so much of reason and humanity. Gives me hope. Shows me the big picture where I am just a tiny fragment. A small pixel :)

  • "The only humans in all the universe come from Earth"

  • My scientific schooling period failed me. It never seemed to me, in school, to be an amazing experience, devoid of any sense of awe and emotion it was mere facts of nature that were portrayed and how individual systems function, the origin and sense of place in the universe was never conveyed, never illustrated. Yet, watching something like Cosmos: A Personal Voyage can teach you so much more about science then 5 years of science education.

  • Im here for my daily view.

  • I'm seriously not kidding this series can bring a tear to my eye each time I watch it.

  • Love it. Hate the twinkle at the end :p

  • I have a hard time believing that we will leave our solar system. I just don't see it as a possibility for our race. The amount resources required alone... would be astronomical, pardon the pun.

  • @IlkainwolfIl Not in our life time, most likely not in a few hundred perhaps thousand years. but eventually. Once investors find exploration profitable.

  • He has more faith in the human race than I do...

  • I wish we still had the space program.

  • This should be translated into several languages in order to spread it around the world.

  • this gave me chills

  • This needs more views on all the parts! Carl Sagan is a brilliant mind that should be exposed to ALL! I ask kids at my school about Carl Sagan and say they have never heard of him. This is disappointing and frustrating. His words and wisdom should be past on, never forgotten, never disperse into the blackened darkness... Peace out Carl!!!!!!! ;)

  • Carl Saga had such a beautiful and brilliant mind.

  • This is perfect.

  • I so badly want to live in a future where we skip across the stars, and not be stuck on this planet where all we do is argue. No one looks at what mankind can do in the long run, its sad

  • For some reason this makes me cry every time I see it.

  • Do you have audio files for these? I keep coming back and really I want to hear Carl with this music on my walks to and from school.

  • Transhumans arise!

  • every time im down this cheers me up. i can not thank you for this video enough.

  • @massormedgetter1337 Carl Sagan has been dead for 20 years. This video is just a remix of his TV-series, Cosmos. Din engelska är hemsk, BTW.

  • CGP Grey brought me here.

  • This video moved me to tears. I am always amazed at the amount of emotion Carl Sagan's words can stir in you. It is a damn shame that we lost this man so early, though we will always remember.

  • Awesome video Carl Sagan! Keep up the good work! Greetings from Swedish!

  • What's sad is that when i first watched this i thought it was one of the greatest things I've seen in a long time. But when i showed it to other people they think I'm the idiot.

  • @Skullking489 who would think you're an idiot for watching a carl sagan video? wtf?

  • @StOnion who would be so blissfully oblivious to the existence of other personalities and preferances that you'd find it suprising they think us idiots?(wrongly)

  • @stiaa04 point taken

  • It amazes me that over a million didn't watch the last 7 episodes. For me, it kind of sums up why we haven't ventured further into space. People don't seem to care...

  • Carl Sagan 's words are some of the most powerful of our time. I can't watch this enough. It reminds me I have a lot to do and see before my time is up!

  • I watch this series over and over again to be inspired. The total beauty of our Universe has yet to reveal itself, but the beauty that we can see, is absolutely breath taking.

  • I wish this was shown on the superbowl

  • @MrGabeFly you mean, in place of all tv on the superbowl? XD

  • @MrGabeFly This should be shown to everyone, everywhere.

  • @MrGabeFly too bad nobody has the money to put it on

  • @MrGabeFly a three minute advertisement would cost 21 million

  • @claton95 It would be worth it

  • @claton95

21 million, vs billions in televised garbage. well worth it.

  • @MrGabeFly If I ever get rich enough, ill buy an advert slot at the superbown and play this and part 2.

  • @MrGabeFly If i ever become a millionaire, i will spend those dollars pursuing such an idea. down to the last penny......

  • Good God, I had chills through this whole video.

  • This makes me cry every time :")

  • I think the more you study the sciences, the more you can agree in what Sagan said. Our infancy as a species is perilous, and we may never make it out there to the depths of space despite our great potential

  • Only 1 600 000 views ? WTF ?

Share this video to your friends on facebook or whatever !

It should have 10 times more views !

  • @Croustifiel 10 times more views? more like 1000

  • <3

  • I hope to leave this planet soon, I hope to be forgotten soon, I hope, in my perpetual repose no nightmare of my life here will haunt me. I hope, my daughter does not have to endure what I have had to endure and I hope, before I leave this planet, I will be able to forgive you, people who hope, you will never have to meet me and answer my questions. What dreams may come, when I have shuffled off this mortal coil I and billions of others will find out soon. Very soon!

  • @Thaulopi I hope your daughter will be able to recognize her father's egotistical attempt at separating himself from the universe. Thanks for your hopes to forgive us people. Unfortunately, what you've failed to accept is that you are one of us, not above. You are not separate. You are not beyond this existence and furthermore you in fact are the universe itself. Maybe she will recognize the only truth, that you cannot be sure of anything... Hopefully, this will make her smile.

  • We love you Carl.

  • What makes Sagan so great, at least for me, is his ever optmistic approach to our species and our future. His poetic depictions of a possible bright future where reason and intellect triumphs over fear and bigotry.. but I feel like that its far too optmistic for me to believe in, which saddens me. Nevertheless, people like Sagan are really what gives me some kind of hope about the futurue of humankind and brings me some kind of peace in this insane world.

  • About the seventh time I'm watching the sagan series all the way through now, and I never tire of it. He's such an inspiration. His voice and words erase any worries, if only for a brief moment, and strengthen my belief in the human race, for a while at the very least.

Such a grand man. If only this planet had more like him...

  • @snaekz there are none, I can only see darkness and bitterness and the final curtain.

  • @Thaulopi lolz

  • @eQual113 do you think that funny friend? Well, good for you and the ones who benefit from your sense of humor. See you in hell

  • TLO is the The Little One aka A german Starcraft 2 pro (video game)

  • Carl has been an inspiration to do great things in the sciences.

  • Every time I hear Sagan talk about stuff I feel like all of my earthly concerns are so petty.

  • TLO love

  • TheLittleOne Thank you that you have give me the link to this special guy

  • TheLittleSaferSex :D

  • TLO ♥ this silly man brought me here :PP

  • TLO just got me here... This is, amazing.

  • @Zelein what's TLO?

  • @claton95 The Liquid One

  • @revolct who is The Liquid One? :\

  • @clayton9m ok, TLO aka The Little One is the starcraft 2 pro-gamer.

  • TheLittleOne

  • If you do not watch this video at least once a day, then your doin' it wrong.

  • I had goosebumps the whole way through the video.

  • I rewatch these videos and send them to as many people as possible, because it's always reassuring to hear voices of reason say "We'll be fine, humanity will learn." rather than turning on the news and seeing how, in the short term, we're apparently all destroying ourselves.

  • Who the f*ck can even dislike such a video? Seriously... Aliens or what esle.

  • TLO honestly brought me here. So yeah.

  • @Smartwater42 what's TLO?

  • @Smartwater42 What is "TLO" Sorry for naivety.

  • Be awesome if it was optimus prime voice..

  • @dlord009 Carl's voice is better than Optimus' voice by an infinite amount.

  • @xxplicitt004 Now I think of it, you're right.

  • Who disliked this?

  • Mr Anderson...

  • Carl Sagan was and is an inspiration to me.

  • MR Sagan was lost in the sound of nothing and his false gods .

  • @Hyperion7433 As a matter of fact I wouldn't like to see Glenn Beck. But it doesn't matter who's in charge, people are faulted and will mess up. But if you listened to Carl Sagan, even he said it won't be us, but someone much like us.

  • @BushidoEffect3 one time i ate my neighbors shit

  • I really appreciate what this conveys. I believe other people should hear it.

Do any of you know how to play this? Or where I can learn enough piano to play this? I want to be able to perform this.

  • 720p does not do this video justice

  • Wow. This video (along with pretty much anything Carl Sagan has ever done) makes me want to climb up on the roof and start screaming. He did so very much for us all, and there will never be another quite like him. Thank you for sharing this.

  • I watch this while I do everything

  • the beginning makes me think about minecraft

  • awesome

  • The world bankers disliked this

  • people dislike this...i don't even...

  • cool

  • WOW!

  • Thank you for this! Despite the prevalence of an anti-intellectualism and anti-scientific mindset in the US, I have notice that a good size of my generation (millennials) is starting to wake up. This needs to be aired to as many people as possible. Can't wait for Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey

  • It's been a good year, Sagan Series

  • So what do we do? Stop funding NASA T.T

  • Sounds gay, but this makes me tear everytime.

  • Comment removed

  • screw sleep

  • atoms in my body, ya think we would meet up here in 2,500 years or so?

  • Well, I guess someone believed there is a future for humanity. I, for one, do not. Contrary to the popular belief, people in the stone ages weren't any more savage or primitive than we were. I don't think there is any real reason to think that people in the future would be better than us.

That is what my cynical self thinks, but I wish that Sagan was right.

  • I really love Carl Sagan. His voice calms and cheers me. He's so free with his knowledge. He's so wondrous, rapturous. I love his joy at explaining things and I love learning things from him. I wish we could all be more like him. I don't know how I got started watching CGP Grey's favorites but I'm glad I did. Every day with Carl is a better day than without!

  • Nasa should get damwswe to speak for them

  • I like how in the playlist I'm in this video is picked twice in a row, I definitely could watch this all day.

  • what kind of people are those 149 that don't like this video???

  • awesome quality.

  • Nice people, you have Carl Sagan trying to talk peace and equality and you fucking idiots want to argue about religion and atheism. Creation and evolution. Why don't you all just accept each other or just the fuck up and get over it.

  • @benderbot44 Because it matters. Because ideas eventually determine our actions. And if those ideas are bad, those actions will be as well. Well that and of course lots of biological impulses which cause us to be really zealous about our ideas.

  • @benderbot44 Because those topics have very much to do with science, and how it will be taught to younger generations. I agree though, with your comment ! ( The swear word was probably unnecessary ;) )

  • Carl Sagan's voice would have been great for Apple commercials.

  • carl sagan is a beautiful speaker. he talks of the future as if he has been there. possibly one of the greatest philosophers of our time. bravo sir!

  • This is the most beautiful video on Youtube.

  • A lot of people brought me here, from Kevin to CGPGrey, but Carl made me stay.

  • @nemesis962074 Brilliant.

  • I've watched the first few episodes... It's like we're children

    We are simply curious.

We are scared of the dark.

We want to find someone else to be with.

We need someone to look up to.

We need someone to guide us.

We are just children, and we always will be.

  • I've never been so proud to be a human being.

  • Thank you who ever posted this videos, you have done a great favor thanks and not only to me , but to the thousands or even millions of people who are seeing this right now , you have brought hope again to me , you have brought hapiness , and for that my friend is more valuable than anything you could ever imagined, so thank you a lot and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

  • Ive educated myself to become a chef, not because that is what I mostly wanted, but because that my future looked brighter for me. But now... my craving for space and science is almost unbeareable. I wanted first to become an astronaut, but I realized that I simply want to be a part of our scientific achievements, our development. I want to know what my knowledge can do for space science, perhaps how to eat better? How to make a decent meal in zero gravity? Whatever is is, I want to do my Part.

  • Dr Carl inspired me to learn and be amazed at the natural world. I've missed that voice.

  • I love you

  • I cannot emphasize enough how incredibly well done this series is. It gives hope to those who are confined in the everyday ignorance permeated throughout society. It puts life in perspective, and makes your realize that while we still have a lot of work to do, we've come a long way.

  • aarrrg, nooo. why cant my eyes suck the tears back! Curse you nameless diety that i don't belive in

  • I have been watching the series recently thank you! Merry Christmas!

  • 147 people have broken speakers

  • where can i pay money to download an hd version of this?

  • This series brought tears to my eyes. Good work sir.

  • @Delta2800 Every time I see this I tear up.

  • i REALLY dont get how people can dislike this

  • I'm sad to say in my debate team at the highschool I attend, we have the topic of the Advancing of Space Programs. Only 3 people agree to advance while the rest laugh at SETI, NASA, the ideas to expand the human race outwards into space. They call it a waste of money and time.

These are the people soon to be the future voters, citizens, and possibly leaders of our world's nations. I wish they could understand the words of Sagan, and realize the ignorance of their words.

    It hurts man

  • @DesolateGrunt

I don't like how many people are against funding this sort of research and development, either.

Most of the arguments I've heard against this have to do with immediate economic benefit.

  • @stayawayfromtheshed ive had exactly the same reaction from some ppl ive talked to. These are the same ppl who support having a military, the fact that every nation (except those that do not have a military force eg Costa rica) put a sht load of money into military projects instead of projects that actually benifit humanity and the earth, it is disconcerting. Thats why ive created a petition for my government to abolish the miliatry defence force here in new zealand.

  • @DesolateGrunt All civilizations become either spacefaring or extinct

  • @DesolateGrunt

I suggest running these videos in front of them.

  • @DarqeDestroyer youtube "the sagan series (720p)" and you will find one in which someone combined all 8 into 1 vid.

  • i have had the most depressing one month behind me. kind of better now, not feeling so futureless and lost. come here, hit up Mr Sagan as usual, and have eyes full of tears, as usual, again...

    :)

  • Related video: "Breasts are the Best"

    sigh.

  • good video!

  • no matter how many times i watch this video, its still amazing.

  • what is that song. its amazing but simple :)

  • why no adsense on this account???

  • Alot of people view a world based on science and progress as strict and alot of thinking and no feeling, this is so wrong. Sure the math and the very science is important! But whats even more important in physics? The understanding, the understanding of the actual physical picture, seeing the red lines. How do one find those red lines? Its hard, it's what seperates most people from the greatest minds, not their math or information, but something machines will never replicate, creativity.

  • Beautiful...just beautiful...Thank you sincerely for following your bliss, for giving Carl Sagan's beautiful soul to the world again...He's very much here today still inspiring us to open our hearts, to humbly seek the truth, to appreciate the often overwhelming wonder of life on Earth and beyond, of the Universe within and without... Namaste

  • I love how a lot of the comments below mine are discussing death, on such a humble video. hehe, Anyhow, Love the videos! And Keep up the great work.

  • TURN ME INTO A DJ! check my video!

  • !°!

  • Humans wont live for another 500 years.

  • beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm not afraid of death, I just wish I could live long enough to see the future.

  • boring i wana watch smosh not this boaringg spase sht if i wanted to learn about spase id watch the inconvinent truthhh wit that looozer algor

  • @MrPROJECTBLUE Stop the video. Search for what you want, than watch it. The amount of time to do that would have been less than the time it took to post that comment.

  • SO SO AWESOME!!

  • ok

  • How have people 'disliked' this, it was beautiful.

  • over the past few months i have been going through a bit of a tough time, struggling with doing simple day to day tasks and have been kind of depressed. watching this series has been inspiring to me, the words of Carl Sagan have always had a big impact on my mood, and this has helped me get into a mindset where i feel i can overcome the challenges i have been facing and am extremely thankful to have experience this short series. he was truly a remarkable man, both scientist and poet.

  • @ITSROBHERE i agree, i am going through times as well, and these videos have helped a lot. i hope everything turns out well for you.

  • Just listen to Carl, this man should and can inspire us all. Just be better humans, for all our failings, like Carl said, we can achieve greatness. How many rivers do we have to cross? Let's go people, his message was deeper than words will ever say. He wants greatness from us, and we really can achieve it. IT TAKES US though, the people, the next SAGANS, the thinkers, the dreamers, us, the ones that think outside the box, we are the ones to really change things. It's time people.

  • videos interessantes , cientificos- shalom

  • wow, just wow

  • bought Pale Blue Dot because of these videos

  • I Like how "Breasts are the BEST" is the first suggestion next to this vidio

  • My nerdometer just went off the scale!
