  • thanks for the clip, can i jst say your filming leaves a lot to be desired.

  • There is also thr bottom of Vale Streeet Totterdown Bristol, about 1 in 2.5

  • The road in Clovelly is so steep you get a donkey cart to pull you back up.So they have a private road for residents to drive on its very steep not sure how steep though. The donkey road aint a real road just a series on cobble stones.Cars not allowed.

  • That's nothing. We used to go down there in homemade go-carts...No brakes!

  • Not sure if this is the steepest.I would think the road down Clovelley is steeper.Though only residents and their visitors are allowed to use it.

  • @albion2742 Steepest road is in cumbria, goes up a mountain 31%

  • Gotta cycle up that monster. Looks perfect

  • I remember going on holiday to Whitby, N Yorks, 13 years ago and there was an extremely steep street near the town centre. The pavement was a huge flight of steps.

  • :54 bad place to park car

  • it's just asking for trouble!

  • No Way Is That The Steepest Road In The Uk .. i Live In Harlech And I Can Even Ride My Bike Up .. All The Way To The Top ! .. And Im Only a Kid =.=

  • i live in harlech!!!! that road is cool 2 go down on a bike!!!

  • I mean it looks fairly flattish to me. I really have to be there inn person to see it for myself. I always feel that driving (travelling in my case) up a hill is a much better indication of its true steepness. Porlock hill looks steeper to me from the footage I have seen and i have been up it but not for a very long time though.

  • Porlock looks steeper, but Ffordd is a very narrow road, and the hairpin at the steepest part is extremely tight and extremely steep. If your brakes go out, you are hitting a wall.

  • @columbusmozart vale st in totterdown bristol is the steepest it was in guiness book of records we went down it today in a vectra its so steep that the front of the car hits road at the bottom then the rear of car scrapes as you flatten out its awsome my mrs was nearly sick lol

  • Stayed at the caravan site at the bottom of this road a couple of years ago and if i didn't know the area from previous visits the trusty old sat nav sends you this way as an old fella was telling me while finishing a stiff drink to calm his nerves after he just came down it with his caravan.

  • LOL!.....?

  • The Wife's car nearly rolled backwards downhill on this road, with loads of cars coming up behind us!

  • Heheh,I grew up in Harlech, have very fond memories of this hill...it IS really steep, try walking it and you'd know.I remember some local lads nicking a sofa outa a pub and going down the hill on it...now that was funny!

  • I once drove up it, and trust me, that is one steep road to climb driving, glad they have made it one way lol.

I also ran down it drunk when I was at Coleg Harlech in 2000/01 when I was a very young 39!

  • Lame.

    ...when does it get steep?

    Someone said it is 40%

    looks like 20% at most

  • The steepest street in the world, called Baldwin Street in Dunedin New Zealand, hits an INCREDIBLE 35 degrees at it's steepest slope.

  • I meant to say percent grade, not degrees. It hits in incredible 19 degrees or 35 percent grade slope.

  • Yeah, but you can clearly see the sign at the beginning of this video indicating a 40 percent gradient. Which is somewhat more incredible than 35%

  • At the hairpin curve near the bottom.

  • Yeah I just want to know what song that was as well.

  • That's pretty cool. I was watching thinking 'Eh? That's hardly challenging' and then it got to the view at 1.20 and I thought 'Now I know what you're on about!!!' V well done - but you want to get yourself to Applecross in the Highlands!

  • Walked up there today. It's one way now for cars [down], The building on the left at the start of the vid is Harlech Tandoori which I recommend!

P.S. Like the roots reggae...Love and Guidance To you.

    Cymru am Byth!

  • Memories! its not one way and have you tried to pass a car on it? Many moons ago I got 7 us in a mini from the Queens to The Castle! Have staggered up and down it too. its a piece of P*** you wuss's.

  • Wow, this brings back memories. Always used to travel from Brum down to Harlech every year when I was a bit younger. I remember falling down on that hill, infact I used to walk up there quite a bit, I slipped on a banana skin!

  • Ah, driving down Ffordd Penllech...bravery, or stupidity? lol. Having walked it up (and having to stop 4 times to catch my breath, especially at the hairpin on the steepest part) by hats off to you, I think.

  • Yeah, spotted this from the bottom and kinda knew then the car or m'legs wouldn't make it if we're going uphill!

  • Well, you couldn't drive up it anyway, it's a one-way road. I cannot judge from the video, how fast were you able to go down? Despite the jiggling of the cam, it didn't look like much more than 10mph.

  • whats that song in te backgorund?

  • Its by Prince Fari, cant remember the name of the track sorry but all his stuff is kinda Dub/ambient.
