It was an honor, truly. I was inspired to enlist in large part because of my many relatives who served during WWII. I was always the flag waving sort and wanted to contribute a little something back. I often think back to my enlistment and miss it at times. By far it was the most meaningful thing I ever did in my life. Someday when I have kids I'll share with them the importance of such service.
