If you have any more video's of Mic please share them with us! I was too young to have known Mic when he was alive and its great to be able to see him perform... Would love to see more!
This right here is what I love about Youtube. Thanks to Patrick Glennon, over 66,000 people were in The Spirit Store that famous night to share in this musical bliss!!
RIP MIC continue making fantastic music wherever you are. You passed on some great life lessons to us before you had to leave. When i listen to your music it makes me proud to be Irish and know we have such talent. You were and still are an inspiration to this generation and generations to come. "This is our heyday baby, and we're not gonna be afraid to shout..."
Thanks so much for your wonderful music and teaching us an incredible way to go about life. Rest in peace knowing that you are forever remembered Mic.
remember it well,i did the sound that nite..it was a great gig,mic was on top form aswell as glen who did the first half of the gig on stage then joined the crowd for the rest with mic joining in along with the crowd...magic!
Has anyone noticed, the Irish know how to make great music? Mic is proof of that.. I so wish I could hear what he'd make if he was with us. He'd be 40 now :( ....
mate I actually discovered this song after I stumbled on one of your songs by complete chance. It is one of the best songs I have ever heard and you Irish seem to have a knack of making songs that make a lasting impression. If you are the guy that sings bumble bee i have to say that song blew me away. Best wishes from Australia, you are brilliant
BTW not stalking ya champ, just wanted to find out if you had more songs. Clearly not enough on the tube anyway, get to work son. As for Mic Christopher, would never have found him if it werent for some searching here, amazing artist, very sad I have found his music now he has passed
@kiwiproject oh we have noticed! and this has nothing to do with patriotism. it's just a fact.
I'm still upset about Mic even all after those years. guess it won't ever get better. got The Mary Janes' Sham and uploaded it here on yt if interested. sure u know it's Mic's band.
Mic Christophere died as the result of a fall from some steps in holland while on tour. Apparently he was out for a few beers and slipped on some steps and hitting his head. So the talk of a courier and motorbike accident is bollox. Learn your facts before posting some bullshite story. Mic Christopher was a phenominal talent and will be sadly missed. RIP Mic.
He did actually have a pretty bad accident from an RTA but recovered from it and wrote Hey Day. No need to be a prick to that other guy. Thats not what Mic would be into man. Lighten up ; )
I thought i had posted an apology, I admit that some of what I said was wrong and would like to apologise if anyone was offended to my comments. Mic was a phenominal talent.
Mic Christopher did not dead in a motor bike crash are you thinking of gilkey of 'the wonder stuff'? mic was supporting 'the waterboys' in holland, went out walking, where he had an accident! He fell off a wall and suffered injuries to his head which he later died from!! i was lucky to see him play @ glasgow's barrowlands just a week or so before he dead on the same tour! if you wish a copy of cd, please email me!! cheers, fraser. love ya mic, r.i.p.! x.
am i think what they are saying is that he was in an accident and after that he wrote "hey day" as a new outlook kinda thing, not that he died in a motorcycling accident. becasue your right with the holland bit. xD
Summer 2000 he was doing motor bike courier service and a car cut him off. He was laid up for months, neck brace and all -- and wrote this song. In November 2001 he had the fall in Holland from which he never recovered. I think two head injuries was just too much for his body to take. It's possible that he might have survived the Holland fall had he not already had a head injury the prior year.
He slipped on some steps and hit his head. I beleive he was in the hospital about 2 weeks, but just didn't make it. There's a wonderful 3 part video tribute, Troubadour, that tells his story. (see Related Videos to the right of these comments)
Listen to his intro mate. Respectfully, he didn't think anybody should have a heyday as such, so to say it was "his time" contradicts the message of the song. Having said that, if you mean it was his time as he is now deceased, God rest him, then sure.
and that's exactly how glen is carry on mic's legacy...with happiness and a refreshed outlook in life, doing something that he knows mic would want to do his entire life had that tragedy didn't happen
I'm happy for Glen and what has happened with his career -- an academy award no less. I knew he had it in him and he seems like a happy person. He deserves all the success he can get. But I can't stop watching Mic. What an amazing talent. He sang (and wrote) from somewhere deep inside that touches people still. It touches me.
Frank Sinatra recored My way before he dide, and to me its sounded like he knew his time was up yaknow?
and mic made this beautiful song nd like im not saying he knew he was gonna die but this was his "my way" its really what he's remember for and he's made an amazing contribution to music and inspired me to become a musician
Mic was in a serious accident,I think about a year before. I've heard that it him a new perspective on life, which I feel may have been much of the impetus behind this song. Given that your instincts are not far off. (or odd)
Mic was in a motor bike accident. He was working as a courier/messenger and someone hit him on his motor bike. It happened in the summer of 2000 and he was in traction. Having to convalesce he wrote "Heyday" which probably did have something to do with the accident and the brevity of things such as your heyday. Very sad; he's an amazing talent and I can't imagine the heights he could have reached.
I am a massive fan of mic and 2 b honest dis used 2 b my least favourate of his songs.. however after listenin 2 his explanation of the song it has jumped to being 1 of my favourates.. mic christopher will live forever......

Dictionary meaning of Heyday is The period of greatest popularity, success, or power; prime This was certainly Mics time.
Down through all of eternity the crying of humanity, tis' then when the hurdy gurdy man comes singing songs of love.
