  • my greatgrand parents lived up there !!

  • Hey Thank you for this Youtube Video that you upload.... When you have time Look up ~~~> The "Chorizeros" were the Yankees of East L.A. in the years after World War II. In the barrio, baseball wasn't just a game, it was an event...... P.S Fu~~> the Yankees!!!!!!

  • did yew hear what that fag ass giants fan said

i wanna kick his ass soo bad

    no body disses L.A.

  • its all good. atleast you guys got a stadium out of the deal and a world class baseball team. instead, us here in nyc got two housing projects. some of the worst in the city. a borough that never recovered and is only now showing signs of rebuilding. a shitty baseball team that was supposed to replace the two that left. a stale baseball culture dominated by moronic yankees fans. curse you o'malley and robert moses!!

  • Los Angeles sucks. The Dodgers ceased to exist on September 24 1957. They can have this Hollywood version

  • @MrMojoRisinII Brooklyn dodgers forever!!

  • we should have left you the giants.....take em ...keep them...dodgers were meant to be in los angeles...blue skys all year round...true blue..

  • The Dodgers were synonymous with Brooklyn. LA should have gotten their own damn team and left them in New York where they belonged! Who gives a crap about anything in California anyway...

  • The Brooklyn Dodgers were 50 years ago. GET OVER IT

  • @beatlebrian because no one cares bout brooklyn.. i mean this is holywood who doesnt wanna come here.

  • @beatlebrian ok you take ramirez I'll take Campy enjoy your bogus team!!

  • I like how the white guy knows more than the Mexicans who were kicked out of their homes to make way for the LA Nobody's.

    O'Malley.........what a guy.........what a piece of garbage.

  • The least O'Malley could have done was let the name and colors the REAL Dodgers wore die in Brooklyn. The man had no heart what so ever and Brooklyn was good to that man and he took a wet shit all over them in the end.

  • Thank you for taking the time to give everyone a bit of history - my grandparents lived on Chavez Ravine along with my mother and her 11 brothers and sisters - my mother is on the Chavez Ravine Story by quadextu -she passed away 5 years ago -and yes, I am a big Dodger fan 2 but I don't forget all those residents whose homes were "stolen" by the City of Los Angeles! That is something u don't 4get! TO TLAGT: They were not poor people, small minded people like u should take it as a history lesson

  • Well, next time start your own team before stealing one from Brooklyn.

  • Nice job, Gabriel! Yes, I am born and raised near there, and I was 9 yrs old in 1962 when all this went down. BUT, while I do know lot's of unfair things happened, lot's of good things happened. The Ravine had it's good points and it's bad. If the Dodger's hadn't taken the area over, someone else would have. Some of those homes were just horrible! But bless you for your nice tribute & for being a fellow Dodger supporter! I hear you all the way, bro!

  • Julian A Chavez aka Chavez Ravine is my Great Great Great Grandpa may him RIP and I agree with edogincali they were ROBBED

  • come on DANZIG2288 they didn't ( give up there homes ) they were ROBED. They were undered paid less than half of they home and forfully EVICTED thats fucked up.

  • Hey, Understand the COLD FACTS. There are no "Brooklyn Dodgers". The Brooklyn Dodgers don't exist. Keep that in mind. "Absorb that hard fact." Mr. Robert Moses "screwed" Brooklyn years ago. Too Bad. Brooklyn isn't a Major league Baseball town. "GET IT". Go see "THE METS".

  • COLD FACTS, Robert Moses did not "screw" Brooklyn, he screwed the ecosystem that once lived Robert Moses Part and Jones Beach. O'Malley screwed the Dodgers and the city of Los Angeles greatly helped him by evicting these people.

So do you "GET IT?" Go see....."A BOOK"

  • It's embarrassing that all the yuppys are trying to make Echo Park look like West Hollywood.

  • Yup, there a bunch of faggots!

  • I'd much rather have Dodger stadium than a bunch of housing projects full of poor people.

  • I just love hearing this. How many games have you been to at Dodger stadium? Do you know what a freeway is? Do you know what traffic is? Fans can spend hours getting to the stadium and getting back home. And if they're willing to spend that much on gas and time in traffic then I guess they're pretty damn good fans.

  • I don't know what Subway system you are talking about, but the NYC is one of the best in the world and I have been all over the world. Most places around the world close their subways by midnight, this is 24/7 365 days a year chief.

To get to Yankee Stadium is a very easy and fast, whether you are coming from Manhattan, Long Island, New Jersey, Queens etc.

So this crap that "Yankee fans have it tough," is bullshit. You want bad transportation? Try getting to the Nassau Coliseum.

  • Dude, great job on this. Much respect.

  • Wow, Did it had to be like this?: "The Los Angeles Dodgers". Brooklyn had a very bad deal from its own New York City Politicians. Walter O' Malley was sick of "New York City Politics". The City Of new York refused "the Dodgers" to have land on Flatbush Avenue & Atlantic Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn. The area had public acess to the Long Island Commuter Railroad Line and the New York City Subway System. The City Of New York Government said no. New York City made Brooklyn a big looser.

  • Thanks for sharing the info. I already knew about this but it's great to see.

There are dark secrets EVERYWHERE and of course we should try not to dwell on the past so much. I agree that the people who gave up their homes should be remebered by everyone.

We're in debt to them all for sacrificing what they had so we could enjoy our wonderful Bums!

  • The Los Angeles Dodgers were the "Forgotten Brooklyn Dodgers" who no longer exist. The Dodgers won one Championship before forsaken Brooklyn for Los Angeles. Just like George W. Bush stole the U.S. Presidency in 2000; The City of Los Angeles stole "The Dodgers" from Brooklyn. "The American Way" is stealing....

  • Hey, check out where the Dodgers used to be before coming to Los Angeles. Check out what the people or City Of New York did to Ebbetts Field in Brooklyn, N.Y. after the 1957 season.

  • People in Los Angeles cared less who the Dodgers used to be called and where they came from. However, Los Angeles loves "The Dodgers."

  • Yup...Change is the only thing constant, my friend..., i grew up in Echo Park myself...played little league at the park in the 70's. Everytime I drive on the 101 fwy, I pass that field and remember how weird it was to have this field by the fwy! You should see the documentary on the Dodgers on HBO...it describes the reasons why the Dodgers moved here from Brooklyn...I sure would not have wanted to be a Dodger fan at that time!

Hey, I went to Clifford, King ang Marshall!

  • You should see what they did to the area where Ebbets Field was... after you stole the Dodgers from us. Nobody wins.

  • VERY NICE VIDEO... THANKS

  • Wow you leaving because you couldn't afford rent and being evicted are two different things

  • When we moved into the building we lived in, there were 9 Apartments available. They needed to rent them out. We are a big family, and they let us move in even though we were too many. We were told to just put 2 kids on the contract because there was no room on the contract to add more. I beleved them.

  • Limited resorses we needed the place at that time,we lived there for years. We were Evicted because they were remodleing the Building we lived in, and they wanted people with no kids and better income. They had us because of the contract & I could not fight it, Plus no attorney. We could not afford the rents in the area because the area became a higher income area, and an artist comunity. I should know. I'm Gabriels Mom.

  • Thanks for that documentary, is there a plaque at the stadium to remind people of the sacrifice that the community of Chavez Ravine gave to Dodger Stadium. Every big city has its dirty little secrets, the only difference is the brave chose to reconcile while weak hide in ignorance.

  • Thanks for watching. I'm not sure about the plaque but the response to this film has been very strong. There have been more and more cultural events in the last few years to reclaim the history of the Echo Park area.
