Ive got a brand new 300mw green laser and it doesnt burn through a cd case :'( it only just pops a black balloon!! is something wrong with it?!...obvioulsy its way way WAY brighter than my 5mw and you can clearly see the beam in a light room or daylight but it really doesnt seem as powerful as yours?....wanna swap ;-) ha

how did you get such a high mW. If I want to buy a laserpen online with 300 mW, I have to show "KvK nummer". I don't know how to explain that in English exactly. But I think it's the "Chamber of Commerce." The only laserpen I can buy is 5 mW.

@goodjellymusic actually 300mw contains both radiation mw and light mw added together. The good pro lasers reduce the radiation via filters to make the visible light stonger. Example. Good 5mw laser pointer is fully 5mw of light because 2-3mw of radiation are filtered. So if you have a 300mw pure visiable light laser and you pull out the radiation filter you may be looking at 400-600mw laser. This is how some people can produce lasers with same rating but be much brighter.

Green light is obtained by doubling the frequency of the IR laser. A lot of that IR radiation remains unconverted. It's IR that's burning and melting things, not the green light. If IR hit's your eyes, they would be damaged irreversibly. Because you cannot see IR, the eyes would not blink, and pupils would not contract.
