Compare Dark of the Matinee with this song or Twilight Omens. The style is totally FF only at a higher level. They've gone beyond themselves but the integrity of who they are and what they stand for remains. Change means growth, adaptation, and evolution. Change means we'll get to enjoy FF a lot longer than those bands who do not grow as lyricists, musicians and human beings. I'd rather be listening to new and different FF for many years to come than have them be a blip in a retrospective.

The Beatles didn't do it with class they changed because of an outside influence...Drugs. Franz are basically doing the same thing. I really like this album because it still holds the classic Franz dance feel but adds more elements. You can hear some of their influences in their songs and its amazing.

I agree with rbksug. I adore their first album, the second was ok, this is a big disappointment. even can't stop feeling sounds crap compared to the "in-progress" version of the song I heard years ago. WHY???? this makes me a sad panda. a long wait is not rewarded :(

well if you listen to linkin park or the killers, very good bands, their bands changed very dramaticaly. For example, listen to Linkin Park's Faint then Hands Held High, or Listen to The Killer's Humans then Somebody told me. Compare the two songs. Most bands have changed.

This is nothing new, bands do it all the time. The Killers, Muse, and Franz Ferdinand; they all made a big change their third album and received crap from their old fans for it. The truth is, ANY CHANGE is going to piss off a chunk of the original fanbase, but it's necessary for any band to evolve.

Personally, I think this is probably their best album so far. I feel the same about Day & Age for The Killers and Black Holes & Revelations for Muse.
