Hey everyone. I got an HD PVR for Christmas and I'm so stoked, plan to have a commentary out today. Only problem is that I have few subscribers (you guys know how hard it is to get subs, so I wont go in depth about that). Polyphony took 5 years to make this game, Turn 10 took less than 2 years to makeForza 4, which smokes this game in a hundred ways. Hopefully Polyphony will regain the crown and show more focus and innovation with GT6, and not take half a decade to finish it. More online modes, proper car clubs and more ways to share content. Liveries creation. Completely fleshed out rally mode. No ugly low res non premium car models. Polyphony, take some cues from your competition and listen to your fans.

can some1 explain to me why too much horsepower is bad i put too much horsepower on my 350z and camaro and its unstable and i want my car to go fast but its loose and other people seem like they control it well.
@Iceshrooms The more power you add to the car, the harder it will be to control. If you don't direct that power correctly (i.e., accelerate, brake, and corner properly), the car will spin out of control and profit you nothing for your horsepower upgrades. Practice A LOT how to accelerate, brake, and corner in cars with less power and work your way up; by the time you graduate to super cars, you'll have the feel down.

The game is great because of the level of difficulty in driving skills. The license tests are amazing and hard and will keep you for longer. I love testing myself in every track, and I have to say that its really challenging. I can not think how someone can get golden cup in some tests when its almost not enough to get the bronze. I guess I have to find out on my own. Love the game, great graphics, realistic tracks and cars. have to say one of the best out there...
totally disappointed with GT5...i was so upset, i sold the game within a week. while the graphics were better, the game sucked. you couldn't mod the appearance of non-premium cars, no in car view on those cars either. top gear test track was only available in one game type... never again will i be tricked. i'll stick with Forza from now on.
i played gt, gt2, and gt3 religiously when they first came out. i in fact hated forza when it first came out. gt4 didn't do anything for me. forza 2 i played and fell in love with. i waited and waited for gt5...then i waited another 2 years and still nothing. forza 3 came out and my head exploded. in short it was wonderful. nearly perfect...minus the migraine generating white title screen. i was really excited when gt5 came out...even after being pissed off over gt5 prologue...

-Getting a "penalty" for hitting a wall in rally races- did it ever occur to these people that hitting a wall is, in itself, a penalty? Do they realize that it automatically slows you down? I don't need someone to kick me after I trip and break my neck.
-Tires that wear out after 3 laps, while your opponents tires magically DON'T

@spritsengiggle Everyone, no matter how good, hits the wall sometimes. When this happens, I don't need to be "penalized" for it, because I was already "penalized" when I hit the wall- I lost a ton of time because of it. It's kind of like paying taxes on your taxes.

I beat every GT there is. I got "all gold" trophies in GT4 licenses, and 8 short of all gold in GT5.
@starknightcronos i love TDU2 car models but the driving physics are annoying as hell. i tried playing a GT5 mercedes only at a Sony fair on my country, and it's more realistic and more thrilling. still... TDU2 only win on island and PED models. some car models were not so cool. GT5 like everyone said, beat the whole racing game on planet. maybe NFS or Forza can still win. I heard Forza 4 will have better detail car models.
@REDZOEU FM4 will have 1,000,000 poly's only in the auto vista feature. The amount of poly's from the racing gameplay will remain the same from FM3 but with a brand new lighting engine and slightly improved textures. The name of the song is 5oul on d!splay.
@thewho5012 wow... amazing! all i can see is FM3 cars had less than 50,000 polys for LOD1 models and over 60 or 70k polys for LOD0 models. even tracks were unbelieveably detailed and costs more than 100k polys. and thx for the music name!

I Think that this game has changed Well from Direct x Lite Graphics to Directx API .The tessalating shapes and polygons Are to be ignored The thing You should be worried about is the Specific Masses of the Game for example Grand Turismo 5 Has a bit More memory Then forza 3 SImply Because Gt5 Has more Car Customisations And it also has a more shines and shadows to to the cars.
Has anyone ever noticed how some of the cars in GT5 appear in poor quality compared to some of the others? Like the F150 SVT or that rally Lancia Delta-and many others. I like both Forza 3 and GT5. All I have is GT5 at the moment-my xbox got the red ring so I figured I'd try PS3. Another thing, at least in Forza I could fully customize and tune all my cars. I hate how some vehicles like the Bugatti and some of the older Mercedes are "S" Standard vehicles-you can hardly do anything to them-lame.
I played GT 1-4 and prologue for 5 and currently play Forza 3 on xbox 360, the reason I play Forza is because 1) they dont wait 5 years between releases 2) they are quicker to implement cars the community wants to see not just what the designers want to put in game and 3) I dont own a PS3 because the last time I checked there was only one that I could play GT 1-4 on whereas I can play Forza 1-3 on my 360.
@johnnyo032003 I know what you mean about GT fanboys. It comes from both sides dude. Go on gamestop and look at all of the reviews by GT5. Many users just say the game sucks, buy forza 3 before the game even came out. They still do it today. Many gamestop users were wondering why would some reviewers recommend an xbox exclusive knowing most of them has ps3. I believe that GT fanboys lowers the rating for Forza, but Forza fanboys are doing the same thing. Remember it's a fanboy war.
@johnnyo032003 Livery editor was mentioned also. But Kaz stated he didn't want to implement that feature yet into Gt5 because. Many forum users asked for working reverse lights, skid marks, more tire smoke, damages etc. Me (personally) I've been in GT forums I asked for interior replay views to show what the driver is doing like shifting and so on. They implemented all of these. PPl is asking for in race game saves. PD is already working on that. So yea they are paying attention to these forums.
@johnnyo032003 About the 5 years, PD created a brand new engine for PS3's capabilities. Most of that coding got dumped from previous ones (GT4). Forza 3 used the same engine from their previous ones. Vision Gran Turismo was cancelled, then GTHD was in development but that also got cancelled. After that, prologue came along, this is when the future GT5 was currently under development. Using prologues new engine, they decided to redo the physics engine and so on.
@johnnyo032003 Also, GTPSP was currently under development the same time as GT5. PD were developing two games at the same time which came out each year, GTpsp and Gt5. When developing GT5, PD had hardware problems with the ps3 some features had to be taken out. This is the reason why this title been developed for 5 years.
@johnnyo032003 Anyways PD wanted another two years for GT5. GT5 only got released because Sony told them to release the title. At the TGS, Kaz apologized that there were so many features he wanted but didn't have enough time to implement them which would be on GT6.
I never understood. Gran Turismo was the first game of its kind to be called a simulator. Existed Long before Forza and most PC racing sims. Yet it has so many haters, so I can only assume that the haters are
1) Former GT Players.
2) Kids who are too young don't know the history of GT series that started during the PS1 era.
In my opinion, No GT = No Forza, No Shift, No Grid. There would have been nothing to compare too soon enough for these games to exist.
@dekoldrick yeah but it became a mainstream arcady game by targeting teenagers. its far from a simulator compared to games like dirt (one of the best physics out there, and one of the most realistic experiences - it makes me feel like im really a rally driver) or f1 2010 (again one of the best physix engines, makes me feel like a formula 1 driver) you may argue that playing those games on a keyboard may not be as good as using a pad, but it still certainly is a heck of an experience!

@thewho5012 geometry isn't the only thing important in 3d rendering if you were a little smart you would know that for example look at directx 11 it uses extreme tesselation which increases the polygon count exponentialy litteraly but most people still think normal tesselation and extreme tesselation look the same next time don't try to act like you know something when you really don't
@fergieboy10 No, geometry isn't the most importing thing. Your objects gets tessellated for the consoles potential. Games like the GT series and the Forza series uses mesh triangular object rendering. Directx API is also handled for gaming. Is there a way to generate high polys from low polys? I'm sure it is. Forza's new autovista feature uses about million polys for each car but many will be limited to that feature. Dude don't think you know me because you really don't.

@TheKoreanGuy09 Actually Forza does have a history, it may not be as long as Gran Turismo's but Forza has been around since the days of GT3 or 4 IIRC. The difference is GT5 is being made by to the same standards that every other GT was made to which is the standard of what Kazunori Yamauchi wants the game to be, whereas Forza has always been made to the standards of the community, Sure there may be GT5 forums or whatnot but I feel Turn 10 pay more attention to the forums than Polyphony

The turn10 creator, Dan, stated that he highly respects the GT series which is what got him racing sim and to create the Forza series. You say that Turn 10 pays more attention from the community. I love testing myself in every track, and I have to say that its really challenging. I can not think how someone can get golden cup in some tests when its almost not enough to get the bronze. I guess I have to find out on my own. Love the game, great graphics, realistic tracks and cars. have to say one of the best out there...

totally disappointed with GT5...i was so upset, i sold the game within a week. while the graphics were better, the game sucked. you couldn't mod the appearance of non-premium cars, no in car view on those cars either. top gear test track was only available in one game type... never again will i be tricked. i'll stick with Forza from now on.

i played gt, gt2, and gt3 religiously when they first came out. i in fact hated forza when it first came out. gt4 didn't do anything for me. forza 2 i played and fell in love with. i waited and waited for gt5...then i waited another 2 years and still nothing. forza 3 came out and my head exploded. in short it was wonderful. nearly perfect...minus the migraine generating white title screen. i was really excited when gt5 came out...even after being pissed off over gt5 prologue...

You can tell that this game was designed by a bunch of DOUCHE BAGS:
-Cars that you buy for hundreds of thousands of credits that cannot be sold- WTF???
-Getting a "penalty" for hitting a wall in rally races- did it ever occur to these people that hitting a wall is, in itself, a penalty? Do they realize that it automatically slows you down? I don't need someone to kick me after I trip and break my neck.
-Tires that wear out after 3 laps, while your opponents tires magically DON'T

@spritsengiggle Everyone, no matter how good, hits the wall sometimes. When this happens, I don't need to be "penalized" for it, because I was already "penalized" when I hit the wall- I lost a ton of time because of it. It's kind of like paying taxes on your taxes.
I'd like to see you drive a 1,000hp+ car and not burn up your tires.
I beat every GT there is. I got "all gold" trophies in GT4 licenses, and 8 short of all gold in GT5.

@starknightcronos i love TDU2 car models but the driving physics are annoying as hell. i tried playing a GT5 mercedes only at a Sony fair on my country, and it's more realistic and more thrilling. still... TDU2 only win on island and PED models. some car models were not so cool. GT5 like everyone said, beat the whole racing game on planet. maybe NFS or Forza can still win. I heard Forza 4 will have better detail car models.

@REDZOEU FM4 will have 1,000,000 poly's only in the auto vista feature. The amount of poly's from the racing gameplay will remain the same from FM3 but with a brand new lighting engine and slightly improved textures. The name of the song is 5oul on d!splay.

@thewho5012 wow... amazing! all i can see is FM3 cars had less than 50,000 polys for LOD1 models and over 60 or 70k polys for LOD0 models. even tracks were unbelieveably detailed and costs more than 100k polys. and thx for the music name!

Personally i have been with GT since ps1 and loved it all the way through, but then i found Forza, which i think is quite good. GT5 seems pretty good to, the only thing that gets me is that only 200 cars in GT have a cockpit view when all 500 odd in Forza have!

Has anyone ever noticed how some of the cars in GT5 appear in poor quality compared to some of the others? Like the F150 SVT or that rally Lancia Delta-and many others. I like both Forza 3 and GT5. All I have is GT5 at the moment-my xbox got the red ring so I figured I'd try PS3. Another thing, at least in Forza I could fully customize and tune all my cars. I hate how some vehicles like the Bugatti and some of the older Mercedes are "S" Standard vehicles-you can hardly do anything to them-lame.

I played GT 1-4 and prologue for 5 and currently play Forza 3 on xbox 360, the reason I play Forza is because 1) they dont wait 5 years between releases 2) they are quicker to implement cars the community wants to see not just what the designers want to put in game and 3) I dont own a PS3 because the last time I checked there was only one that I could play GT 1-4 on whereas I can play Forza 1-3 on my 360.

@johnnyo032003 I know what you mean about GT fanboys. It comes from both sides dude. Go on gamestop and look at all of the reviews by GT5. Many users just say the game sucks, buy forza 3 before the game even came out. They still do it today. Many gamestop users were wondering why would some reviewers recommend an xbox exclusive knowing most of them has ps3. I believe that GT fanboys lowers the rating for Forza, but Forza fanboys are doing the same thing. Remember it's a fanboy war.

@johnnyo032003 Livery editor was mentioned also. But Kaz stated he didn't want to implement that feature yet into Gt5 because. Many forum users asked for working reverse lights, skid marks, more tire smoke, damages etc. Me (personally) I've been in GT forums I asked for interior replay views to show what the driver is doing like shifting and so on. They implemented all of these. PPl is asking for in race game saves. PD is already working on that. So yea they are paying attention to these forums.

@johnnyo032003 About the 5 years, PD created a brand new engine for PS3's capabilities. Most of that coding got dumped from previous ones (GT4). Forza 3 used the same engine from their previous ones. Vision Gran Turismo was cancelled, then GTHD was in development but that also got cancelled. After that, prologue came along, this is when the future GT5 was currently under development. Using prologues new engine, they decided to redo the physics engine and so on.

@johnnyo032003 Also, GTPSP was currently under development the same time as GT5. PD were developing two games at the same time which came out each year, GTpsp and Gt5. When developing GT5, PD had hardware problems with the ps3 some features had to be taken out. This is the reason why this title been developed for 5 years.

I never understood. Gran Turismo was the first game of its kind to be called a simulator. Existed Long before Forza and most PC racing sims. Yet it has so many haters, so I can only assume that the haters are
1) Former GT Players.
2) Kids who are too young don't know the history of GT series that started during the PS1 era.
In my opinion, No GT = No Forza, No Shift, No Grid. There would have been nothing to compare too soon enough for these games to exist.

@dekoldrick yeah but it became a mainstream arcady game by targeting teenagers. its far from a simulator compared to games like dirt (one of the best physics out there, and one of the most realistic experiences - it makes me feel like im really a rally driver) or f1 2010 (again one of the best physix engines, makes me feel like a formula 1 driver) you may argue that playing those games on a keyboard may not be as good as using a pad, but it still certainly is a heck of an experience!

@dekoldrick Yep GT started the whole playstation, Xbox raceing era off. With out GT. there would be no proper raceing games. Yeh theres no damage on the cars on GT 1, 2, 3 and 4. But in my opinion its the enjoyment of the game its self thats most important, not the amount of damage your car gets when raceing. What do you think?

@thewho5012 Sorry bro but every video I've seen of Forza 3 has really low ratings on game websites because GT5 players go on their sites and vote down the Forza videos. Almost all video game websites have GT5 vids rated higher than FM3 because of this. That just goes to show you that GT5 players are fanboys who are scared that someone else made a better game and are insecure. Sure I love GT5 but I dont have a PS3 I have a 360 and I play Forza 3. One day I hope to have both PS3/GT5 and 360/FM4

@thewho5012 geometry isn't the only thing important in 3d rendering if you were a little smart you would know that for example look at directx 11 it uses extreme tesselation which increases the polygon count exponentialy litteraly but most people still think normal tesselation and extreme tesselation look the same next time don't try to act like you know something when you really don't

@fergieboy10 No, geometry isn't the most importing thing. Your objects gets tessellated for the consoles potential. Games like the GT series and the Forza series uses mesh triangular object rendering. Directx API is also handled for gaming. Is there a way to generate high polys from low polys? I'm sure it is. Forza's new autovista feature uses about million polys for each car but many will be limited to that feature. Dude don't think you know me because you really don't.

Tracks like nurburgring, seeing from sunset to sundown is breathtaking. And clearly shows it's using lots of beautiful quality. Many other gamers agrees with the same thing about nurburgring. Everything else you're saying about ps1 quality everywhere you're completely wrong.

@TheKoreanGuy09 Actually Forza does have a history, it may not be as long as Gran Turismo's but Forza has been around since the days of GT3 or 4 IIRC. The difference is GT5 is being made by to the same standards that every other GT was made to which is the standard of what Kazunori Yamauchi wants the game to be, whereas Forza has always been made to the standards of the community, Sure there may be GT5 forums or whatnot but I feel Turn 10 pay more attention to the forums than Polyphony

The turn10 creator, Dan, stated that he highly respects the GT series which is what got him racing sim and to create the Forza series. You say that Turn 10 pays more attention from the community. Sorry dude I have to disagree with you on that one. Many things were mentioned. Damages got implemented is because mostly the U.S asked for it.
