  • ON 0:48 TO 1:39 WAS THE BEST

  • This just make me feel like having a gladius right about now!! I want to smash those barbarians!!!

  • Chaaaaaaaaaaaarge !!!!!!

  • Standing Applause!!!!!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!

  • FROM 2:30 on out is nassssssssssssssssssstttttttyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • DAMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

  • yes its the best one

  • I suddenly have an uncontrollable urge to click everywhere on my screen....

  • @RPGAssassin2291 I think VICTORIA ROMAE is more correct

  • @BloodofSpartans he's right, you have to apply the dative form

  • @BloodofSpartans ROMA INVICTA!!! (Invincible Roma) it's the actuall sentence used on whole bunch of roman monument, well at least up until 410 AD) in case of Gladiator proper sentence would be ROMA VICTA or Roma Victris, because Rome is in LATIN a feminine word.English doesn't have gender in words so I guess that's how they got it wrong

  • THIS DAY IS OURS!!!

  • UNITS, FORM FUCKING TESTUDO. (this sound more realistic than the original :) )

  • UNLEASH HELL

  • This one puts me in the mood for an epic fight :P.

  • If you don't want to pillage somewhere after hearing this, you're not alive.

  • AT THEM!!!!!

  • ROMA VICTOR! Roman General:"let's kick some but."

  • Post any funny/epic/brilliant moment u had in RTW with this soundtrack on.

-> Thinking... "what the hell is the Spanish IA doing?"

  • @x0Beck0x waiting for HOURS for gaul to attack me all the while listening to this epic music go to waste

  • A make sure after new shogun you do rome 2, and you best get same sound ppl that did this on it.

  • the music is so fuckin awesome it beats the hell out of all the other Total war soundtracks Rome is the best Total war in my opinion

  • Units, MARCH!

  • @RjBlaauw UNITS!! DOUBLE TIME!!!!

  • i will never forget marching my army into battle with this epic soundtrack

  • @icanmyshoetie = it wasnt your damn army. It was "our" army. We all have a stake in fighting the infidelic barbarians. And I must add, that after your finished with it, the army was soft and flabby and only my gest generalmanship saved our sorry asses in the next major contest. Consider yourself warned. When you get an army in tip top fighting shape, keep it that way or else you spoil the game for the next poor sucker who commands it and in this game, that can mean DEATH!

  • Reminds me of that computer game show where they re-enacted famous battles!

  • @rockyinchester Aaah! Do you know what that was called? Been trying to find it for ages now but haven't got a clue what it was.

  • @EdofEngland TIME COMMANDERS!! Haha. It's just come to me too. Classic. I used to think 'wow.. imagine if you could own this software!' LOL

  • @rockyinchester : Nice one rocky! Now to watch an episode, and see if it's as good as that 5 minute clip I remember watching yeeeears ago.

Vicars in the Teutoburg Forest sounds good :D

  • i wish this music would play in my head when i fight gipsies outside

  • @ArcticSledgeTank MP3 player?

  • @EdofEngland no that wouldn't be practical

  • Dont know, i cant rate my strategy skills because i ve never played online against other players. I ve just played it 1 time against another human foe but he wasnt really good so i ve won(Medieval 2). I am waiting for a new Medieval 2 Mod(Europa Babarorum 2) but i dont know when they re done with it, probably never..When i install Medvl.2 with the mod Stainless Steel again then i ll make some video for you. Maybe i ll install next week but i cant promise.

  • listening to this i immediatly start to see my troops marching torwads the enemy...the big clash of the front lines and the cavalery flanking and rapping the enemies lines from behind....hummm i think im gonna play this again :D

  • This song = priceless!!!

  • this music reminds me, of my armies of DOOM getting in position, i like to kill to those babarians, only diffecult to get a stabile infrastructure on west europe, i need to handle my 2 brothers, i cuptured rome, i got 70% of egypt, i got sparta, i got thad pontus side, the side next to greek, i got salamis...you know....i got all wonders, i got an army growing out of the statistic board, anyway, 1 turn takes me 20 min, without fighting, i do all battles, with fighting...........1+ hour atleast;)

  • @MoArachanox yes, but this game gets boring when you re too powerful. That always happnes to me

  • @Ixtzalit what i wrote is not easy, its hardcore for life, because i need to plan everything, diplomatics, positions, i get 3000+ battles every turn by my brothers.

its not like iam to powerfull, i need to think 110% every action i do, or i lost a crusial point, believe me....what i wrote is not iam so powerfull, yes iam, but i got war with egypt, both roman brothers, pontus.....if i count them, they over power me in statics 300%

  • @MoArachanox hmm, i played on very hard and it was even too easy. I loved the game but the enemy ai was annoying because it was too stupid. I recommend the mod 'Europa Barbarorum' Evrything has been changed, even music. But the enemy doesnt make naval invasions...dunno why.

  • @Ixtzalit you know there are 2 options fof diffeculties?

campain map diffecultie and battle map diffecultie

if you set it on highest, you get navel invasions.

i doubt you updated the game also with till 1.5 or something.

if you played on verry hard and its to easy, something wrong with you.

so if you both set on verry hard, and your game is up to date, 10+ respect

  • @MoArachanox I had both on very hard, and the game was uptaded. I think the 1.5 patch is for the addon, i dont exactly remmember. I ve maked the battles by myself so maybe thats the reason why the game was so easy. As first i always captured greece. After that everything was going easy because i was already too strong. The mod Europa Babrbarorum makes the game more challenging, but i ve stoped to play because the foes didnt start any naval invasion, that was annoying.

  • @Ixtzalit wanne see your strategies with my own eyes, if your not joking its some crazy shit, iam a f strategy pro, but if you find thad option easy, thads wired, can you upload gameplay? if you can, campain map play and battle map play pls

  • @MoArachanox I dont even have this game on my laptop anymore. You can believe me, i think there are alot of people which havent problems on very hard. I played medieval 2 as spain on highest difficlt. too and it was only challenging in the beginning, after i got the iberian isle the game was that hard.Ofc you must make the battles by yourself, if you dont do then it is more challenging because the auto ai cant win against superior numbers. But the comp. ai is stupid, its easy to trick it.

  • I wanna play this game again!!!! Units March!!!

  • There's truly nothing like putting Royal Pikemen in a V formation at a bridgehead with a unit of pikes under them to add an underscore [_] to the V. Put enough archers in to make the enemy come to you [if they don't have shallow rivers or artillery] and even the most powerful cohorts and even spearmen can penetrate the front. If the pike's are overlapped with other units of pikes in another V with an underscore, there is no other hope for you but to gain a major victory.

  • una de las mejores bandas sonoras de videojuegos

  • Best of the Total war series....Even if they put the wrong egypt in.

  • SHit guys why are under attack

  • best from RTW

  • Comment removed

  • I always use among the barbarians Kahil initial attack. After all, they would add the Roman Legion. They are used as bait to soften the attack posterior Ahahsttti spearhead arranged. Left and right wing cohor tLegionary and wardog and i Pincer movement closing them with heavy cavalry. Not let anyone get away so the report is written 0 enemy soldiers left total annihilation

  • always when this theme come to an end i often win the battle

  • "Roman world or bust!"

  • Comment removed

  • In this Game, I put the Triarii in the Front, Hastati and Principes in the behind to provide support units, Cavalry in the Flanks, and Archers in the rear for supressing fire against any enemy units gets near the lines.

  • @LegoRepublicese

Historicaly you should reverse your units ;P Hastati in first line, to weak the opponent, Principes after them, to break them, and Triarii to finish them with a spears.

  • @Oskareczekeczek Triarii were not meant to finish them off. The use of triarii itself meant the battle was going poorly, they were the final reserves and were only really used in times of desperation. By looking at records of roman conflicts, triarii were the last line of defence.

  • @1217ryszka Hmmm, that may explain a lot, cause Triarii was not only the most experienced, but the oldest as well, so they couldn't fight for a long time, they'd tire their old bones too much.

  • @Oskareczekeczek I will do what you suggested to me seems to me an interesting idea. I wonder what it would be on the battlefield. Thank you very much for your help in this way helps tactic against an enemy army like all the Greek cities or Macedonia. Or do you have to offer me another tactic

  • horse archer run!!!! Great Huns :)))

  • 0:48

    SHIT, GAUL NAKED ZERG RUSH

  • Some may say it is better to be feared than loved, but it is best to be both. Feared by your enemies, loved by your followers.

  • UUUUNIIIIIITTSSSS ATTACK

    Oy! Oy! Oy!

  • 5 early legionary cohorts against of 2 combined armies of gauls within a small vilage in the plaza gues what the plazas paint in the end was green and red and it was red from their blood NOT MY F ARMOR

  • How very engaging.

  • This for me is the Cannae theme.

  • Slaughter civilians? There are only 2 kinds of people: us and them. Is it better to be loved or feared?

  • This is the best one, IMO.

  • @NeoTheo9

yup, love that intense part. especially when you're winning.

  • Imagine this with music background grief with a 5000 armed from head to toe tediously slow in coming to you one goal in their heads annihilation very gruesome

  • This is the background music puts you in a state of war And of course the legions of Rome under your command

  • i always remember my epic battle against scipii and brutii families when i hear this melody... awesome...

  • when i hear rome total war this song always stays playing in my head ! =]

  • lol same too me xD

  • its probably cos of time commanders if you've watched that series

  • ROME HBO doe you mean>?

  • whats that?

  • oh lol its a Serie about the Romans.

I thought you mean that bij ''Series''

  • yes, what they did was the picked for random people from the publick to play the specialy modded game on TV , it was amazing, search Time Commanders on youtube to find out more

  • okay i will do that!!

  • I Just installed the SPQR mod.

but i think im gonna uninstal it=S

    the original is much awesomer!!!!

  • When i started a cilvil war at first timr i conquered the Main city Rome and it was freakin hard to hold it.

  • Heh whenever I conquered Rome I'd exterminate the population. Then if they still gave me trouble, I'd have my army leave the city, let the rebellion take over, conquer it again, and exterminate the population again. They behaved a bit better after that.

  • weird how the game encourages you to slaughter civilians isn't it? but it's true that people are never satisfied. :p

  • always when you conquer rome occupy it not exterminate it

  • Listening to this, feels like I am playing the game, Awesome music, Just Awesome

Man, if I was in a real battle and hear this music being played, Id wet my pants

  • I like how the general beat of this song is like the rythm of a marching army.

  • Jeff van Dyck => Pure genius.

  • Dude, how can you not love this score? Jeff van Dyck is a genius. This song pumps you up! And always plays when you start marching your troops.

  • scalywag66 i dont know what that mean .... and dont want know.... oh i like the music ^^ the beast part 2:28

  • best song of the game 5/5 !

  • "Units, march!"

  • @acelikespie "aye!"

  • This is truly war music! :D

  • i was beening twat on total war this music and imaspim the online rive was going mad kill my romes but wt was left fight to death and some beat his greeks

  • what? lol

  • 0:00 - You stand in front of your army and order them to march ahead. You split the army into two momentarily as they pass you up on both flanks of your General Bodyguard unit. Marching ahead steadily, at :18 your missle infantry speeds up to get within range of the vile dogs ahead of you.

0:30 - You order your Missle Cav to run ahead to help protect your infantry missle and harrass the enemy a bit while the army continues to steadily march ahead. The enemy realizes they're in trouble now

  • 1:00 - Your 3 missle cav units are now within range and go into the circle and shoot formation and begin to harass the frontline of enemy infantry. The enemy begins to drop and skirmish their missle inf thats in back of their army to the front to ward you off while at the same time deploying some light cav. Your missle cav stops circle and shoot and go into skirmish mode once the enemy light cav gets nearby. They mistake the skirmishing for running away and head back to their positions.

  • 1:50 - With the enemy cav running back to position, your missle cav go off of skirmish mode and back into circle and shoot and recontinue to harass and nearly wipe out the light cav whos back is turned to your cav. Your missle inf now within range aids in the harassment as the frontline enemy inf continue to fall little by little. Meanwhile the rest of your army steadily marches on getting closer by the moment, the enemy is getting ready for battle.

  • 2:30 - The rest of your army, now within a reasonable distance begin to slow down as the grand fight gets ever closer. Your army takes their last steps The heart starts racing, the adrenaline gets pumping, the emotions start raging as both armies stare each other down as both are ready , for TOTAL WAR!!!

  • 0:48 !!!

  • listning while playing evony!

  • this makes me want to fight

  • Gets the blood pumping

  • Holy Shit! This music made me wanna play this game again.....

  • @amaister93 yesssssssss mee toooooooooooooooooooo

  • when i get into fights at school i alway here this song play in my head and other rtw soundtracks

  • lol awesome, it encourages you...i usually have soundtrack 8 in my head, reminds me of an angry boar ready to charge head-on into a crowd of people and obliterate every one of them

  • man this music reminds me of time commanders!

  • Whooo!

    Hail Time Commanders!!

Bring back that show and let teams of Total War geeks at it!

  • Their general is dead! Now their men fear us! Thrive them from the battlefield!

  • :-D

  • In war, truth is the first casualty.

  • Awesome music, really missed listening to Rome TW soundtracks I used to paly this game and completed it with 5 factions.

  • This songs sounds in those battles where your enemy has a bigger army and more posiblities than you of winning

  • Ever since i saw the movie "300", i always use the spartans in custom battles, lol

  • I came, I saw, I conquered-Julius Ceasar

  • After one of his lesser known Campaigns in the East.

  • i love tho heard this music when i charge with my armored elephant^^

    GO CARTHAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FORWARD MARCH. lol i love the game (julii and brutii) and seeing thoose small little greeks and gauls bieng run down by my cavalry, crushed by my infantry, destroyed by my archers and smashed by my catapults =]

  • pretty fun when you have 240 men per cohort !! and about 320 for prime cohort.

  • hey is there a way to recruit the prime cohort in campaign? i've tried many times but can't ever get them.just the stupid regular cohort.

  • well the only way to get the prime cohort is as a gift from the Senate when you complete a mission. Such a shame !!

  • alright thanks.ive never gotten those for a reward. just war elephants or scorpions.

  • The first cohort is from Rome, and if I remember correctly they carry the flashy gold eagle standard. If you like them as a trophy then go complete a couple Senate mission to get them. But you might find yourself not willing to put them in a fight - cause losing the gold eagle is pretty embarrassing.

  • How could you lose the Eagle in the first place?

They're monsters, you can pretty much throw them at just about anything short of an Elephant and they'll bring it down with ruthless efficiency.

  • i beat a guy using urban cohorts on multiplayer with parthian infantry and cataphracts. you just gotta kow what ur doing

  • Well I'm not a good player and I don't play RTW often. :(

Even though I use Romans almost all the time, I prefer the pre-reformed units. Triarii and merc hoplites are only units that saved me getting whipped by calvaries, something that happens a lot. :(

  • Don't have y0ur flanks exposed and try having y0ur cavalry on y0ur flanks but have triarii on the left and right ends, missles in the middle urban cohorts behind and a front row of Triarii.

Works for me. I like my archers they do the fun stuff xD.

  • what u need to do is give ground in the middle and just have ur flanks cramp ur enimy and destroy them and split your chalvery and attack a seperated nits.

  • Everyone has their own strategies, you've just got to find one that works.

I often use the Roman Triple Acies formation, front row of Hastati, Second row of Principes, third row of Triarii.

    Equites on the flanks.

Fight with the front row first, throw in the second at a key moment and push the Triarii in just as you want to break your enemy.

Once they're routing, use your Equites to mop up as many as you can before they're all off the field.

  • right, that's the best tactic :D

  • Actually, it was traditional roman formation, for real. ^_^

  • I know. The key to ANY formations is the Roman tradition of having reserves though. If you commit every unit you have on the front line then you have no momentum, you're just an obstacle in the enemies way.

You put half of those units behind the first half, suddenly you can make a tactical descision to reinforce a weak section of line, protect your flanks from Cavalry or even encircle your enemy.

  • Have you read Machiavelli's "The art of Antique war"? Very interesting and it really helped me to play when I just started playing total war games. Something like a game guide it was. =)

  • I've only touched on Sun Tzu's Art of War and Zhuge Liang's War Manual but I'm aware of Niccolo Machiavelli.

  • I've read Sun Tzu, but never even heard about Liang. Hmmmmmz.

  • He's often referred to as Konming.

  • for real! i destroyed a legionary cohort with a eagle using bull warriors! and of course i conquered the world with spain. its easy to win total victory with spain.

  • Man! 00:49 so siiick!

  • I heard this on time commanders before ever playing RTW. I though "they made great music for this show" hah

  • This song reminds me of the hose of julii destrying the army of gaul

  • julii ftw

  • I like this music when it is a cavalry charge...

    GO PRAETORIAN CAVALRY!!!

  • of course it is a roman song......they were PERFECT.......send them forward, the enemy comes out the other side chopped into bits

  • Makes me think of large roman armies

  • Always reminds me of a Huge Heavy Greek Phalanx marching to decimate some persian light infantry

  • haha that made my day :D

  • hehe im glad

  • bloody powerful song

  • God, this music is addictive. It's the perfect theme for the roman legions, marching forward like a juggernaut.

  • Comment removed

  • Im gonna buy this game tomorrow and the first i gonna try to play its Carthage, Because when i hear this music i can only see the Elephants storm against the enemies line! xD Thanks for this music! 10/10!

  • Download it XD

  • Blasphemy! :p

  • :D :D Torrents FTW!

  • Units forwaaard!!!

  • Well, this is one way the FBI can find piraters xD...

  • marching

  • P.S. And sorry for double posting:

As enemies, these men are perfect. They are running from the battle in terror!

    =D

  • Hehehe, he always sounded so excited when he said that ^_^

  • I really love this part, it used to send chills down my spine every time I heard it in battle

  • dıf dıfı dıf dıfı dıfı dıfı dıf dıfı

  • When this was being played on the Internet at the height of it's popularity, and both you and your opponent's chosen army's began to close in on each other and this music kicked in and was blasting in your ears, man, what an escape this was.
