Mango's spacing in the first match was the best example of spacing I have ever seen in Melee PERIOD! The reason why M2K lost is because his Marth is based on capitalization and not forcing his way in. Mango didn't make any mistakes to capitalize on while punishing his grab and fakeout attempts. Taj played more runaway

This is one of my favorite sets ever in the history of this game.

Actually Mango plays excessively risky for a player of his caliber. He really does play around too much but at the same time his risks end up paying off because he seems to NEVER be wrong. Just watch the match, if he called out some of the stuff he did incorrectly it'd cost him a whole stock.

@IShotLazer If you're reading correctly then it's not so much of a risk. To me he was truly risky in the Grand Finals, many of his approaches (Nairing a low % Peach and shield pressure) were just to intimidate and show that he was in control. Unfortunately, Armada's Terminator-like ability to capitalize on the slightest opening made every failed attempt a stock loss.

Mango was playing extremely smart in this match, all of the "risks" were calculated and well spaced to avoid punishment.

As much as everyone agrees that trying to shield grab mango is bad, M2K did miss a few spots where that was the better option rather than staying in his shield. Mango's shield pressure is so great that M2K got heavily punished almost every time he put it up

Great set. I remember watching this on the stream, and after that distratous first match I was afraid we'd see a repeat of M2Ks P5 set against against PP, with M2K more or less giving up mentally. But he ended up putting up a very good fight for the other three matches. Kudos to him.

Not that I can really question M2K's decision making, but I sometimes wonder if he wouldn't do better overall if he just stayed Shiek for matches like these. Going Marth cost him the first game comfortably, his Shiek went much closer with Mango's Falco. His Marth gets gimped a lot more from the videos that are around whereas with Shiek he can mixup recoveries.
