  • Why does this work? Is it because the air flow bellow the balloon equalizes with the flow beneath it, like in the airfoils?

  • lol at comp backround 0:14

  • Back in the sixties, there was a toy called the Johnny Astro. It used balloons and a battery-operated fan on a gimbal controlled by a linkage to a pistol grip. By adjusting the speed of the fan and using the pistol grip to point the fan, one could make the balloon maneuver to a landing. The kit came with little cardboard feet that were taped to the balloons' narrow end to act as landing gear. I wanted one, but my stupid parents never got me one.

  • used to do this all the time with my grandma's humidifier.

  • isnt that the bernoulli effect? like in the plane wings

  • no, it is coanda 'cos the air follows the ballon curve, and the leave it,pushing it in the reverse direccion of the air... :D

  • mmm, i dont see the difference xD,

it is suppossed that the ballon floates because the air which flows up from it generates low pressure, so the higher pressure pushes the ballon from the down side.

    its very confussing haha

  • yep coanda effect is an outcome of bernoulli's equation, that comes from naviers stokes equation, that comes from conservation's law like energy, momentum and flow.

  • How is that the coanda effect...

    That's the Bernoulii effect...

  • You are an idiot. Please, go kill yourself.

  • wel now arent we the stupidest of htem all? ok seriously there is a freaking fan right there

  • Nice example!! 5* lesson learned

  • It would make the car lighter by a nearly unmeasurable amount.

The Helium would leak out much faster than air due to the smaller atoms and have to be replaced often.

I thought Nitrogen would be better than air.

    Xenon would be even better.

It's an inert gas with heavy atoms.

One fillup would last the life of the tire.

  • Yes, I'm a mechanic and when we do an oil change will drain the tires and fill them up with nitrogen. It lasts a lot lobger than oxygen in tires

  • well the air is 78% nitrogen.. so when u fill up tires with air ur filling them up with almost all nitrogen

  • floating there

  • i do that with a ping pong ball by usig my mouth however you can do that too with a hairdryer... drove my mum mad so i switched to blowing it...

  • i blew up a ballon half helium half oxygen and it was just standing there

  • Did ya' ever fill a Baloon full of Your Pee Pee and than toss it out of a moving Automobile? it's like totaly awsome, Dude!

  • I'd put the hand in the outlet to prove it was the airflow. Nice video!.

  • cool :) , lol at your examiners face tho... "huh, a ballon and a heater? .. riiight"

  • Notice the stream is not coming from directly below the balloon. It is hitting it at an angle.
