Martha is just trying to show off to the Doctor, That is why he ignores her most of the time. She does not have everyones best interest in mind she just wants to get in the lime light.
She does that because she loves him. Type in "Doctor Who- Gotta go my own way". in the search bar and watch my video. She loves him but he ignores her because he is still getting over rose. she then decides that it's better for her to get on with her own life and thats why when we next see her in the 4th series she has a new boyfriend.
The time this was uploaded, Tennant's last story was the 3 parter Utopia/Sound of drums/Last of the timelords, a story that was very satisfying.
