The search for the treasure began in the late 1700's.

Here's how to do it: Drill down to the fill-tunnel's apex at the same angle that it descends. Insert a heavy duty airbag 1/4 way down it and inflate it. After removing the water in the pit, insert a big piece of concrete type of drain pipe down it to where the fill tunnel enters the pit. Drill a hole from the surface to the fill tunnel just beyond where the airbag is and pump in concrete. Afterwards go down there and hammer away at the pipe.

people bury treasure with the intention of coming back to claim it at a later date. the measures taken here indicate several lines of defense against whatever is down there ever seeing the light of day again. i think it would be wise to let whatever is down there stay down there. also, notice the structure of the flood shafts in relation to the shafts inside the pyramids of giza...almost identical. i'd say the tomb theory is a very sound one

To anyone who question Peggy Adams seeing the 3 british soldiers ghosts', there was an interview during the later years where she and her mother were interviewed and she has sworn by the events of the 3 apparitions. The interview transcript is available if you Google it. The only thing Ms. Adams said was NOT true was that she NEVER visited the citadel and that story was added by a journalist.

I heard somewhere that they pumped dye into the water to find the locations of the sea shafts... why not do that again, mark which areas of the coast the dye shows up at, and use controlled explosives to seal the shafts? If nothing else, it should at least slow down the rate that the shaft fills with water, maybe even to the degree where a regular pump could be used to keep it dry...

I believe someone else has recently solved the whole mystery and they are melting down the treasure right now,including the Ark of the covenant and the holy grail. My theory is as follows. There was a huge pit that was used as a comunal toilet, one day someone had a really smelly poo which everyone could smell. They then went on to attempt to fill the pit in order to mask the smell.. So if eventually it is dug up everyone will DIE from a prehistoric poo!! ;p

There is a new theory to this. A translator recently said the message on the stone slab was misinterpreted. it does not say "40 ft below 2 million lbs are burried". He said in reality its a series of directions. Using the triangle discovered on the surface and those directions it points to Birch Island. An island very close to Oak Island. They think the purpose of the pit was to hide the directions. The treasure is on Birch Island.

If i burry treasure the basic idea behind it would be to be able to dig it up again at a later point in time! - so this seems very unlikely!

A native treasure like suggested on other occasions is even more unlikely since neither Indians nor Inkans regarded gold etc as "treasure" or valuable.
